  1. The IS250 SE-L passenger airbag can be turned off and on via a switch by the door hinges. Not sure if the same applies to all IS250's and IS220's but assume it does.
  2. You can switch them off, it is on the same littel panel you use to set the speed and revs warning.
  3. Today I drove up to a building tp park and the front sensors started bleeping. I'm not sure if they continued to bleep when in park as I switched off straight away ( must try again to see what happens). When I returned to the car the front sensors started bleeping as soon as the engine started and still in park. I thought it a bit silly as I could see a huge brick wall about 6 inches in front of me. But, thinking about it it does make some sense. The obstruction could be something below eye level so not obvious but reminding you to engage reverse gear. Just a thought,
  4. Deano 84, you are Dislexic and I appologise if my comments sounded harsh, but your message would be easier to understand if you used "ponsy old boy talk" as you call it. Slang is only understood by those familiar with the meanings so your question was not easily understood by some readers. oldun
  5. just because your from shetland dont try to take it out on innocent posters, dude. Firstly, what does the fact that I live in Shetland have to do with it? Secondly, your reply suggests a degree of bigotry which I find offensive and has no place in the LOC forums. Oldun
  6. Tried my IS250 SEL today. Weather was cool, 9 degrees C and on starting in park(obviously) engine was doing 1600rpm. Gear into drive with brake firmly on and the revs dropped to 1000rpm. This is what the car has done from new, and presents no problems. It may affect those with a manual transmission a bit more though. I suspect that because the engine runs so lean to improve fuel economy, the "automatic choke" enriches the engine more and for longer than old engines use to. oldun
  7. Thanks everyone for your very informative replies. I think I will wait for an LCD with 1080 pixels as they seem to be the most future proof. Fortuneately I have a Sony 32"CRT TV which is still working just fine, but was thinking of getting ready for high definition programmes. oldun :)
  8. I am planning to buy a new TV, at least 32 inch up to 42 inch. LCD is my first choice, but would consider Plasma if it proves to be a better choice. whichever one would of course have to be HD ready. I must admit to watching far too much TV, so one that stands up to a lot of use is needed. There is such a big choice of makes, and then so many options within the different makes I don't know which to choose. Picture and sound quality are more important than price (I would rather pay a bit extra for quality and relability) up to a point. Any suggestions, experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. oldun
  9. Am I reading this right? A car is approaching you fast in the outside lane, and you pulled out in front of him. Sounds like a damned stupid thing to do, were you testing his brakes for him or acceleration the onslought of a heart attack? Then you complain about cars passing you on the left, what the heck were you doing in the right hand lane if there was room to your left? When you mentioned good lane discipline, it sound like you sit in the middle lane all the time. Hope i'm wrong with this Jamboo, but thats how it reads to me.
  10. I find I have to read some things 2 or 3 times before I properly understand the meaning, purely because its not punctuated. Nowadays I see huge senctences which have no punctuation. Rather than breaking up senctences with punctuation, it is now common to stuff all the information into one long sentence, this is difficult to read quickly I find. Senctences? twice :o
  11. The Sony Ericsson K750i workd perfectly in my IS250 SE-L, although I never tried transferring a whole lot of numbers. I just entered them individually as there were not that many. The speed dial works a treat by the way. :D
  12. When you say "After a long drive or a rainy day - simply dust down the car". Did you do that with the car still wet? If so it sounds like the ideal thing for me. oldun
  13. I don't see what the problem is! Both Orkney and Shetland have places called ****t. The one in Orkney was an RAF station during WW2, so sal****er should be perfectly acceptable as both ****ts. Could a Moderator please explain why T.W.A.T.T Oops, I press the wrong button before completing my point then :duh: Could a moderator please explain why T.W.A.T.T and S.A.L.T.W.A.T.E.R (sans . )are unacceptable words? Families live in T.W.A.T.T and I am sure they would be very offended to hear their homes were classed as offensive words. As for S.A.L.T.W.A.T.E.R, it covers 70% of the worlds surface, so if it offends anyone then they need to look for another planet to live on. oldun

  15. What's green and got wheels? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Grass. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I lied about the wheels.
  16. What did Little John say to Robin Hood when he saw the Sheriff of Nottingham's men coming? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "Look Robin, here comes the Sheriff of Nottingham's men" :P
  17. Answer to Point 1 Pressing the map voice button does not repeat with a TMC announcements. I would rather concentrate on my driving and let the system lower the volume rather than have to press buttons to make it repeat. I guess the obvious answer is that it should be a feature that can be selected. Answer to Point 2 Obviously a passenger could use seat adjustment buttons and if he/she had memorised a seat position THEY CANT USE IT WHEN MOVING. That was my point. Ok it should be used when you first get in but if one button has been set in "relax" mode, seat goes back, rake goes back, you cannot just press a button to operate it and return to original position when you want. No great hardship in using adjustments manually I know, it was just a case of WHY. I'm sorry Whoosh, if you would rather concentrate on your driving why is your radio so loud that you cannot hear a guidance message? :duh:
  18. On point 1. I have had a number of cars with Sat Nav which cut the radio sound when making an announcement. Having listened to an exciting murder play on the radio and the sound cuts out just as the murderer is being mentioned is really annoying (you know the situation I mean ). Now in my IS250 if I should miss an announcement, all I have to do is turn down the volume and press the Map (voice) button and the last message is repeated. So I and my passengeres never miss an important part of a radio programme and I never miss a navigation instruction. Best of both worlds I think. On point 2. Why doesn't your passenger just use the seat adjustment buttons to alter the seat position? If he/she had memorised a seat position and then not used it, don't blame Lexus. oldun
  19. You've no idea what bad weather is. :D oldun
  20. After 1250 miles my 250 SE-L still remains rattle and wind noise free. :) oldun
  21. Hey! I didn't hear anyone shouting about Inheritance Tax when only the very rich had to pay it. Wives used to work to supliment the family income so they could have a reasonable standard of living. Now wives work so the family can move from their perfectly adequate home into a bigger one costing hundreds of thousands of pounds, have a new car every few years and three holidays abroad each year. People today want more of what a few years ago were classed as luxury goods and the State to look after them from cradle to grave as it were. Just remember, there are millions of people much better off than the average person in the UK. But, there are also billions of people in the world fare worse off than the poorest people in the UK. The perfect government does not and never has existed, so just be thankfull for what you have. You are the rich compared to when your parents were children and super-rich compared to your grandparents days. Generally speaking that is. oldun
