  1. That's truly disgusting. I hate having to repair other peoples work/gashness. I had to rip out and repair a fair bit of wiring in my wife's Focus because some clown had savaged a hands free mobile kit into it. :tsktsk: Hope you get it sorted buddy.
  2. I got Blueprint lower ball joints from a local motor factors for mine 5 years ago, can't fault them, and they're still going strong. Mintex brakes seem to be the brakes of choice for most and you can get complete sets off ebay for a fairly reasonable price. Exhaust, it depends what you are after. Most aftermarket catback systems are £300 upwards, shop around. Also there are loads of threads on here regarding exhausts, use the search function.
  3. Don't quote me on this but I think one is the light sensor for the auto headlights and the other is the solar sensor for the A/C. I can quote you on that. That's exactly right. I don't know which one is which though.
  4. I haven't timed it, but if my engine's up to temp and idling, my fans kick in after about five minutes for a short period.
  5. Wow, with that many fault codes I'd suspect the ECU but it could be possible you just have lots of things wrong with the car. May be a job for a toyota/lexus tech to diagnose this one.
  6. That's a pain in the bum just to change the bulbs. I don't even think it's possible for the L/H fog because the wiring loom is so tight. I think what we're trying to ask is, how flexible is the front bumper with the Trd lip attached when peeling back the arch liner?
  7. Just put loads of rags around the subframe and stuff to mop up any spillages. Or........jack the right hand side of the car up massively, 45 degrees at least. Then the filter will come off straight down, voila, no oil everywhere.
  8. Without decoder, I have standard ones in my main and dipped beam with no problems. On a side note, it's strange modern cars have multiplex systems to tell you if you have a bulb out. It's good that the IS200 has a brake light failure detector because it's difficult to apply the brake and have a look at the back of your car at the same time. But do you really need your car to tell you why the road isn't as illuminated as it normally is? Idiot proof motoring I suppose, it's the way of the future.
  9. That looks like your piston seal has leaked and inflated the boot. Impressive. I'd strip the caliper and take a look to make sure your piston seal hasn't split.
  10. That one's in the driver's footwell. It's a 15A fuse labelled CIG. I thought i'd mention that the cigarette lighter has it's own fusable link at the base of the cigarette lighter itself.
  11. I'm not sure if the locking catch and the cable assembly can be disassembled. I suspect you'll have to do the lot, sorry. Regarding the flap, that's even worse to replace. It's riveted to the bodywork so the old rivets have to be drilled out and replaced.
  12. Or you can call it the alternator drive belt, which is what it's called in the workshop manual. I don't think it shoud be reffered to as a 'fanbelt' because it doesn't directly drive a fan. But that's symantics for you.
  13. Yep, simply remove and replace for the dipped and main beam. The fog lights differ slightly. 2003->on is H3 bulb. 1999->2002 is HB4 bulb.
  14. Removing the lock itself seems pretty simple. Just a case of removing the L/H wheel arch trim in the boot and locating the back of the fuel filler cap. The filler flap lock disengages with a clockwise turn and a pull. The fun part would be tracing the cable through the car and back to the release handle. It's not difficult removing trim, most of it's press on catches and clips etc. But it can be time consuming.
  15. Ask your Lexus dealer how compatible the 2 colours are. If you decide to go over to pink, you will probably have to drain and flush the red stuff out first.
  16. Not true, look in your engine bay. The fans on an IS200 radiator are driven electrically with motors. Read my post again. There are 3 auxiliary belts. The 2 most important ones are the ALternator/Water pump belt and the Power Steering belt. The air conditioning belt isn't as important as the car will run without it (just don't select AC because nothing will happen).
  17. I'm pretty sure everything suspension, chassis and body are exactly the same. Obviously engine and exhaust are different. I think the electronic cabin controls are slightly different too.
  18. I think it keeps the ecu nice and dry with the warm air coming off the radiator.
  19. The IS200 has electric fans, hence no fanbelt. But it does have 3 auxiliary belts. 1. Power Steering (looking at the engine it goes to the pump lower left). 2. AC Compressor (looking at the engine it goes to the compressor lower right) 3. Water pump and Alternator (looking at the engine the water pump is on the left hand side of the engine block and the alternator is on the right hand side of the engine block at the top). The only belt I would drive without is the AC Compressor belt.
  20. The bolt tightens at the end of travel. Like any normal bolt. The threads inside your caliper carrier might be shredded, that might explain why your bolt tightens before it's reached it's end of travel.
  21. Like Rudus says, heat the nut with a blow torch until it's cherry red then get a spanner/breaker bar on it.
