  1. Look for inflatable roof rack on Google there is a great one that leaves no damage and can be assembled placed and removed easily. Very strong too.
  2. It was in Saudi Arabia so petrol no problem 20p a gallon. Very fast for the size of it but badly rusting away. All parts horrendously expensive. Hydraulic doors air suspension and pumps!!! very long too. We did 125 in it one trip out, pretty scary with chunks of wood and all sorts in the road on the way to Medina. The Cadilac had the alloy engine and it was just never right, the mechanics only understood the cast iron ones. It lasted me a week. The headlining fell on me and it was just like riding in rice pudding, no feel, and the A/C had no ooomph. <_<
  3. I just find myself admiring the lines especially when I see someone else's. Mine looks a bit tatty on one side due to a bump but the other side looks great. Its the newest car I ever owned except for the Toyotas, but the best by far. I've had a 1984 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, Mercs. 1978 450 Se, 1976 450 SEL 6.9, 1986 350SE, 1982 350 SL, 1985 BMW M 530, 1985 BMW 635Csi and an XK Jag 1984 (I think). All my other cars have been Toyota Cresidas 1986.1989 New and Camry's 1998 New . 1999 New - (LS200 base?) along with the 1982 Mazda 323, 1976 Crysler New Yorker(WOW) 1951 Ford Pop, VW camper vans 57,62,67,86. Commer van, Austin 3 1/2 cwt Pick up. Fiat 124 estate. The Lexus is easily the best. The Crysler was the most ridiculous. The Csi was the flashest and the 6.9 the most prestigious.
  4. Is it a contact for it to light up (as in bulb) If there is a mesh that is the element that heats the lighter but it should be down the hole I'm guessing....
  5. Thanks Rob, that was a simple one!
  6. Pressure bleeding forces the fluid and air out of the pipes by forcing clean fluid through using a pump rather that the intermittent stabbing on the brake pedal
  7. Hello there. Since yesterday responses to topics have been listed under the originator and are not shown in full, links only. Like a site map. I can't see that I have changed preferences to view in this way. I can't find any preferences that give this as an option either. How do I get back to the whole thread being shown unabbreviated?
  8. I was impressed by the photo of the SAAB manual in the glove box! Why though would you not believe the description we'd all say the same privately they are great cars. It does look a bit OTT in print though. Edit : I just noticed that it has 4 wheel drive!!!!
  9. I just called. It seemed too good to be true. It was. 96, Ls400, on drive, 6 years NC, CB post code location (low risk), Over 50 driver only, no business. Tried them with £1500 value for the test with one expired SP30. No accidents. £397.95 Refused to consider putting the classic van on as an extra and were talking about £160 on top. R.H. Only deal with Equity Red Star and are not brokers for any other insurer. What was you quote for exactly? You appear to have done well.
  10. A key turn in the lock will close the windows after you get out. Driver's at least.
  11. I just had the same without the light on my MkIII new battery in the fob sorted it.
  12. Thermoacc Sorry that you took offense I wasn't having a crack at you. It just seemed like a cheaper alternative! (and a cheery riposte) BTW. I don't own a garage and there are pros and cons re. all garage operation styles. This is not such a serious site that we get nasty...Honest! Just a joke. Stay and join in!
  13. I prefer the originals too but I like the MkIII ones best. Me partial ?
  14. David lexus re. water pump and pulleys no the hell they did! It was only after I got it back thatsomeone suggested that it was worth doing at the same time. Oh well!
  15. Or check out your own crack in the mirror and make a bloody oily mess on your mate's drive!
  16. The brake stuff is easy enough to do. Some say that the belt and pump are not too frightening but I was concerned about doing it out in the rain. I've done brakes but paid Lexus for the timing belt. No one suggested the water pump at that time so it got missed.
  17. The remote has a different coded internal. I have 2 internals with dif. no.s on they are not interchangeable. I see no obvious way of doing it unless it had a programmable chip. The spare has the code. in a circle with a horizontal line between. 2.s 12
  18. Mine does not slide it is a fob, has 4 buttons on it. lock unlock trunk and hazard and the "chipped"key is separate The other key is just a key too but apparently not "chipped"
  19. Total for Lexus to do the belt on my 96/7 63,000 service miles inc. wash, oil, filter, drain plug, timing belt, plugs, brake fluid and coolant replace. £713.00 service and belt £400 + £42.13. plus VAT.
  20. A decent FM transmitter with ipod charger and auto seek will cost around £40 Tesco have one without auto seek for around £15 No auto seek means you have to keep tuning it on the fly. Radio signals, empty when you start off, are often full down the road. No charger has it dying on you.
