the original problem i had was blinky dash and radio back lighting not illuminating when lights put on, i went to sort blinky dash out and as a bonus sorted the backlighting im not sure which capacitor does what but for 11pence each and a few minutes soldering its worth doing the 3 of them the extracting of the dash takes up the most of the time

just got codes read at a toyota dealer. code came up as p0325 knock sensor 1 circuit (bank 1 ) basically engine running slightly to lean so im told and the cost of the read by toyota dealer NOT A PENNY, were as a local mechanic was wanting £40,figure that out!!!

i sorted my problem with radio backlighting and blinking dash for the grand price of 24pence and a hour of my time 2yrs back on a mk2, have to look up what i did and i will post the fix up later ok Hii I read that post, Amazing! There is no way I could attempt that due to my disability. Would you be interested in fixing the problem for me? I'll Pay you of course! (a bit more than the 24p. lol) its been a couple of years since i did this fix and just found the info again for what i did to fix it,i originally was just sorting my flicky dash lites and whilst sorting that it also sorted out my backlighting BONUS lol. right here goes hope i mind it all. you will need to source out 3 capacitors from a electronic store,i got mine from maplin at a cost of 11pence each(wow the expence hehe) the caps are 16v/10uf, 25v/4.7uf ,and 50v/10uf. first u have to remove dash and get to the circuit boards thes 2 of them a small one and a large one the 16v/10uf is located on the small one identifyed by the code c212 so unsolder this then resolder new one in place. on the large board the 25v/4.7uf is coded c142 and the 50v/10uf is c147 unsolder old then resolder new ones in place. im not great at soldering but managed to do it so u shudnt have to much of aproblem,or get a auto electrican to do it for u at a cost. it took me about 1 nhalf hours to do this myself and cost me less yhan 40pence in parts, i have a diagram of the circuit board and how to remove dash if ur not sure how to extract dash without damaging it. hope this helps. it made my day when i sourced this info and sorted it myself as lexus quoted me £1200 to replace dash p.s this was done on a ls400 1993 mk2..pps heres the circuit board layout with caps highlighted http://apaqdigital.com/ls400/instrument_circuit.jpg here the other link on how to remove cluster www.lexls.com/tutorials/electrical/instrumentcluster.html .............. highlite this then copy and paste as icant get it to link on this page coz me stupid when it comes to computers so the mrs says

ive a mk4 ls and ever since checking fuses by pulling them out to look at them ive had 2 warnings pop up on the display 1st was the vsc which i managed to get cancelled out my self but now my check engine warning display keeps popping up after the 1st 5mins of starting up (only on the initial start up off the day), i stop the car and switch ignition off n on again and its fine for the rest of the day, i always kno its about to come on as car is slightly unresponses on the accelerater n then wee red lite comes on with check engine warning on display, but like i said if i pull over n switch off completly then on again everything is great till the following day wen it all happens again. ANYBODY ANY IDEAS before i head to lexus in aberdeen

yep this is the 3rd time ive seen this car advertised in the past 1 n half years,by 3 different owners last one was in carisle if i mind right and sold for £2000 on ebay

ive the same problem with my mk4, dismantled everything last week and cant find the bulbs?????? ITS NOT THE SAME AS THE TUTORIAL AS FOR THE MK1,2,3. circiut board is totally different, gave up in the end, if u do find a fix for it let me know cheers

hi,not long got myself a mk4 ls and decided to put gold plated badges on,i purchased a set but the front bonnet badge is a tad to small,contacted the seller and he said it is for a ls and the was a run of different sized grills for the ls????????? news to me as i also have a mk2 ls and badge same size as mk4, just wondering if this is true or ive been sold a grill badge for a gs,rx,is. or are the front badges all a standard size? appreciate any info on this thanks

am now the very proud owner of a mk4 ls, am chuffed to bits with it. my train journey down south was a 10hr nitemare(public transport) my return trip was 7hrs of bliss, wife reckons i need surgery to remove perminent grin ive now got lol

ta but i wasnt offering anything for sale I WAS WANTING hehe i know wot u meant tho, ive now got a mk4 ls pik it up on saturday, leaving my house at 0630 catching train and 10 hrs later i'll have the keys in my hand for a 7 hr luxury drive home yeeha cant wait

sensor wire on brake pads is loose or broken it happenend to me and i just joined wires bak up n lite goes out

claiming on hoose insurance as mrs isna on my car policy and me no taking blame for something so STUPID on look out now for mk4 ls wifes paying for it heehee then sell jag n pay her back boohoo, and i will not EVER buy any other make of car,dont get me wrong jags nice but once uve had a lexus and then drive anuther make of car the comparrision is like (re comfort)sofa to park bench etc etc

as to ur question no 2 yes there are holes when u take of badges of the bak,ive a mk2 and went to debadge it and found holes behind all rear badges

ive 3 cars in household and she wrecks the one i love the most and the one she likes the most(why she cudnt wreck her own freelander or my jag i dont know), i wrongly got a x-type jag just the other month and its :tsktsk: i regretted it within hours and decided id run it for a bit then sell it and pick up a mk4 ls400 in the near future WELL THE FUTURE HAS CROPPPED UP QUICKER THAN I THOUGHT so ive to thank the mrs for that...although my ls is 14yrs old its much much better than my 4yr old x-type. i will never ever stray again from lexus and most importantly never let the mrs drive it p.s anybody want to buy a x-type jag lol

:) had just fitted new headlite bulbs to car for its mot today and mrs says "i'll take it out of garage for you". ah sweet i thought :D mmmm yeah rite she hits wrong pedal and demolishes workshop bench and tools and equipment go flying every where, as she plants car wer bench shud be, :tsktsk: oooops she mutters im not used to automatics.. .. me im gutted damage substained is headlite, side lite, wing,bonnet bumper and scrapes all over roof and boot wer tools bounced of bodywork, insurance assessor coming on friday to view damage to car and garage and equipment, due to damage and age off car 93 mk11 me thinks its a ins rite off

is it not the brake pad wear indicator. the break pads have a wear indicator on it and once its down to the wire it breaks the loop connection and on comes the warning lite on the dash , ihad this just last month but pads were ok just the wire had snapped so taped them up and no warning lite on now

i had this fault on mine and lexs dealer quoted over a grand for the sort.... i sorted it my self for 12pence and a hour of my time 12p was for a cap and the time was taking instrument cluster out and soldering new cap on sorted dash and centre console if you look bak into my posts the fix is there somewhere under blinky dash

i had the same problem with mine,i soldered on a new capacitor in the instrument cluster and it was sorted,canna mind which one but i'll look it up again n get bak to u..... the orinal fault i had was a blinky dash n sorced out a diy fix for the dash and it sorted out my lights on the centre console as well

ive just this minute walked bak from dropping my car off at garage to get the exact bit fitted pity i didnt see this b4 could of photo'd it n showed u. to answer ur Q yes it does i got quotes for said bit rangeing from £98 down to £53 for nearside all OEM,...................OOOPS SORRY just read ur post again it was nearside FRONT im getting fitted

i found the same panel last week as well with plug socket and still not the wiser to wot its for mines a 93 mk11..... didnt find any money either lol
