  1. Not only Lexus GB read the forums, the Lexus Team and dealers around the world also read this forum but very few of them reacted, sometime you can tell by their post descritption.
  2. My advise in previous post will work for this case
  3. This is only for temporary relief but it won't take them long to sort it out and put one back in or short the circuit. I've got my old car stolen even with the relay and battery removed from the car.
  4. He does not want the car to be able to start even if someone has got his key. The best way to do this is unscrew the two wires from the battery terminal and then use a deadlock to lock the terminals of the two wires together.
  5. Some cars have less paint resistant than the others, even of the same model. If there're a lot of chips that look like paint's faulty you can contact Lexus GB requesting for a respray.
  6. It sounds like you're the kind of person enjoying luxurious and quality without having to sacrifice too much of your cash, hence 250 SE Auto would be the pick for you.
  7. Most people are unhappy is due to bad experience with the dealerships. They are the culprit and they are the one to blame not the Lexus Corporate. Dealers are working independently which Lexus has no control over it, if we don't like this one we can go to other one or complain to the Lexus head office if they did something bad to you. We got to think this way and enjoy all the good stuffs of the Lexus we own, enjoy the immense pleasant of driving it, looking at it, the luxurious and confort as we had paid for the prize and joy. If you have a chance to get in touch with the Lexus people (not the dealers) you will know how grateful you are for owning a Lexus because they are really nice and care for Lexus owners.
  8. Mud and sweat still penetrate through the seat cover in the long run. You still have to clean the seats but less often, otherwise it will reek.
  9. I believe those have rattle free IS must be driving like grampa and usually using smooth city roads. Had Never stepped over 5,000rpm and had never been on the country road.
  10. Glad to see you've all niggles sorted. I believe all Lexus owners are pursuing for perfection "If we are not fussy we would have been driving a Mitsubishi" :D
  11. How much more petrol does it take with supercharger on, 10%, 20% ?
  12. All dealers are tricky. If anyone happen to haggle hard and get very heavy discount, make sure that you add additional condition of delivery date that you can use against them. Otherwise they will keep putting the date further and further, that you end up getting no car or years later. They occasionally use the heavy discount order for the full whack buyer near the delivery. For Infinity, you must justify yourself how much discount you've got and whether you will get the car without adding more money to your order. The dealer might be trying to compensate for their lost by adding more option for extra money.
  13. If you can not live with these rattles and insist to have it fix then contact Lexus GB but you must be prepared to accept the possibility of getting back a car with loosely interior and minor damage exterior. If you go back to same dealer for the fix then the same hoof hands person will have to clear up the mess and you don't know what he will do to your Lex when he's not happy, so insist to go to a different dealer. I have to admit that I've almost screwed up my Lex since I bought it brand new last September. I went back to the dealer almost every week for the fix of some rattles, woffle noise and some other minor issues. Until the end I've decided to fix some of the rattles myself and leave the rest to fix after a year or two. So just enjoy the car when it's still new as we've paid that much for the joy and prize.
  14. @Dayglows, hope it works out fine for you but I doubt all noise can be fixed properly. It's most likely you will still get the old and some new bug after the fix as I've mentioned before.
  15. I have not experienced any problem either so far, probably it's a bit too early to judge as my IS200 is only several months old. Needless to say that Lexus is far more refined and solid than Ford and the name does stand out in the group. But the cost for running and maintaining is certainly more than keeping a Ford. In all, if you enjoy luxury and pride and you can afford it then Lexus is the best choice. I have not heard any thing bad about RX350 and I'm thinking of getting one in the near future. Do you mind to briefly list the issues that might be concerned ? Thanks :D
  16. Thanks guys for sharing your valuable knowledge & experience. It's great to have learned something here indeed. Actually brake pad wear is not an issue but brake dust is really a pain in keeping the car clean. I think that's inevitable. @Jamboo, by the way what's Mr Sheen trick that you've mentioned above ?
  17. Recently been on a friends IS200 Auto for a day trip around. Notice that he used engine braking quite often instead of stepping on the brake pedal to slow down the car. He changed the gear to 3rd or 2nd when the vehicle ahead suddenly slowing down or approaching a traffic light from high speed. He avoided hard braking by using engine braking instead. He's got his IS200 for almost 2 years now but I don't seem to notice any problem with his transmission or engine. At the end of the day when I checked on the wheels, there was hardly any brake dust on the alloy wheels and the brake pads still looked as new. He told me that he only had to clean his alloy wheels every couple weeks, where as I have to clean mine every couple days in order to keep the alloy wheels shiny. Does anyone here use engine braking or driving in this style ? According to the theory frequent use of engine braking could cause damage to the transmission or engine, isn't it ?
  18. Needless to say its_a_doozy is still waiting for the parts and still has to go back there for the fix. You won't know what they can do to your car if they know you're stepping on their back.
  19. Did you have the problem before replacing anything ? It sounds like combustion problem that can be due to air mass meter or the sensors
  20. Sorry for the reiteration as I've mentioned it in many posts before. If you really love or care for your car, don't go to the dealer for any fix if you can put up with. It's not always but most of the time you will end up with more damages than done. When you got your car back from the dealer, check it very very careful inside outside for dirt/oil, mark, scratch, crack, creak/rattle etc. And for those hidden part that you can not check, you can only be obsessed about it.
  21. I had experienced a few times when tried to fix one thing it introduced another including dirt, mark, scratch or rattle if you look hard enough. I would not go back now if anything not really necessary. I always noted down the ODO reading making sure that my Lex is not used for any other purpose. In your case, I think it's been used for some pickup. You should complain to LGB if you have evidence.
  22. Sounds like the hood switch sensor has been tempted or not sit in properly and the alarm can go off anytime even left untouch. Any Auto Electrician can reposition or adjust it properly.
  23. I used to provide quality genuine oil and filter (because they don't carry it) when serving my old car in the cheap garage but didn't expect that it also happens to Lexus service. Anyway, what's the benefit of providing the oil when servicing the Lex at Lexus Dealer ? Won't they think it inferior and end up not using the oil provided since you can't really tell the differrence :D
  24. The country would be more safer and nicer if these low life scums are eliminated. Make use of the forum and organize a group of gutted people. I'm sure these low life scums will come back if you put the car back there. Record it with the video camera and put them to justice.
  25. All dealerships are running independently, they usually don't care much about individual issue but your money. If you have any problem that really concerns you after having booked the car in to fix one or twice, you should at least NOT to go back to that same dealerships and try another one. But the best solution is to contact the Lexus Head Office informing them about the issue and obtain the proper procedure for the fix. They are the only one who really care about the Lexus reputation, I have to admit that they take very good care for Lexus owners. Keep in mind that after making complaint to Lexus Head Office, don't go back to that particular dealership for any service as it won't do you any good at all. It happened to couple people I know
