  1. As I mentioned above for some reason the 8:30 isn't listed on the initial booking page. Select 8:15 and it will then tell you this isn't available and give you other options including the 8:30. Hopefully this will work for you!
  2. What car does he want you to buy him Bazza? I had two metro's as a student and although I loved them at the time I wouldn't want to go near one now as they just fall apart in an accident. At least newer Astra's (from J reg), Corsa's etc have door protection bars and airbags.
  3. Its mainly that high because of the 30K miles a year which makes the future value very low.
  4. Have a look at: http://www.lexfreechoice.co.uk/freechoice/...nline_quote.htm Examples figures: Vehicle Details LEXUS IS200 2.0 SPORT 4DR MAN List Price £ 20,500.00 Cash Price £ (Including 36 months Road Fund License at current rate) 20,389.91 Contract Type Maintenance contract with full RAC cover. Contract Duration 36 Miles Per Annum 30,000 Deposit £1000 First monthly payment (Including £35 Administration Fee) 1,035.00 Followed By 35 monthly payments of 567.52 Optional Final Payment (Balloon Payment) 6,450.00 Total Amount Payable 27,348.20 Credit Amount 19,488.57 APR 8.9 % Excess Mileage pence per mile 9.2 Monthly Payment Breakdown £ Finance 468.86 Management 83.97 VAT at 17.5% 14.69 Total Monthly Payment 567.52 I got it quite a lot cheaper than that through only specifying 20K miles a year and as it was a new model out the predicted future value was much higher.
  5. For people like me who didn't have a deposit (I'd just bought a house) buying outright wasn't an option. I wanted to keep the car for no more than three years and do about 22K miles a year. Paying off a £22500 car (they were more expensive in those days!) plus interest over 36 months is very expensive so I looked at the personal contract plans that offer a final payment, but lower monthly figures. This is still the same as leasing in that you don't own the car at the end unless you pay them a lump sum which I probably wouldn't have the money for and would be wanting to change the car anyway. Then I looked at leasing and the price per month was similar, and you can still pay a final payment at the end to buy the car but with leasing I was able to include maintanance packages for true fixed cost motoring, including roadtax. In the 67K miles I did in the IS200 I had some very expensive bills. £787 for the 40K service for example and I got through many Bridgestone S03 tyres so I definately think leasing worked out better for me as I didn't have to pay for any of it.
  6. Mine is now booked as well :) Same ferry as Loz, 8:30 out, 23:00 return. For anyone else booking when you select the date and time for the outbound trip it only offers 8:00 or 8:45, select one of those and it says not available and offers you the 8:30!
  7. Your not going to let him drive the Lex then bazza?
  8. Which Maguires polish was it you used DLJ?
  9. There are a lot of rich people who took that chance because they believed in their idea and made it work. If they had never taken the chance they would be stuck in an 9-5 job probably having not progressed far. I'm not brave enough to try it.
  10. Loz are you going to go for 7:45 or 8:30am going out? How about coming back? 23:00 or 23:45? As you said you can normally turn up earlier and just get on the next ferry.
  11. Getting a group of us on the same ferry would be good fun.
  12. I think you need to register on www.posl.com and then access 'latest offers', registration is free and doesn't commit you to anything. I go a couple of times a year so I was already registered.
  13. Or slightly earlier out and later returning: Outbound Route: Dover to Calais Method of Travel: Car Outward Date: Sat 4 Oct 2003 Passengers: Adults: 2 Outward Time: 07:45 Pets: 0 Fare Type: FREEDOM FARES Return Route: Calais to Dover Return Date: Sat 4 Oct 2003 Return Time: 23:45 Total Quote Ferry: 33.00 GBP Insurance: 0.00 GBP Total: 33.00 GBP
  14. Seems a little expensive Loz for a day trip, I normally pay a lot less than that. Outbound Route: Dover to Calais Method of Travel: Car Outward Date: Sat 4 Oct 2003 Passengers: Adults: 2 Outward Time: 08:30 Pets: 0 Fare Type: FREEDOM FARES Return Route: Calais to Dover Return Date: Sat 4 Oct 2003 Return Time: 23:00 Total Quote Ferry: 33.00 GBP Insurance: 0.00 GBP Total: 33.00 GBP
  15. The signs use Radar, the RoadAngel module only picks up Laser! Thankfully most mobile speed traps now use laser.
  16. I have one and I'm very pleased with it, never gives false alarms and hasn't missed a camera yet. I don't know how well it works on mobile speed traps as I haven't been through one yet.
  17. Mostly history, us guys and girl that were here from the start!
  18. GS430? And you moaned about me buying an old mans car!
  19. Sorry to hear that Claire, especially as he won't admit its his fault. Hope you get it sorted out quickly.
  20. Nice one Steve, are you going to keep the barge as well?
