    The police were sitting at the entrance to my office yesterday watching people come and go from the supermarket opposite, I'm sure they were checking for people using phones.

    I was reading AutoCar a couple of weeks ago, they fitted them to their M5. It didn't take long for them to be stopped by the police and given a ticket! (for having the number plates on not for speeding)

    When this occurs is the air con on or off? Air con can help clear the screen quickly but the downside is if the car has been left for a short while the car can steam up from the condensed air.

    Bluetooth car kits will not be illegal, nor will using an ear piece as I understand it, as long as you don't handle the phone at any point. Most ear pieces have a call answer/end button and that can also activate the voice dialing.

    I'm sure the MOT insurance has small print with a number of exclusions such as tyres? Maybe it mentions bulbs too.

    There was a discussion before the forum's were lost about certain phones which will work with the Nokia Bluetooth Car Kit (CARK-112). Does anyone know which non-Nokia phone's will work?

    I also heard this is a good way to sell a car quickly on ebay. Mark it as no reserve and it will get lots of interest and if it doesn't hit your minimum price pull it near the end (because you sold it elsewhere of course...). Thanks for the info on the leather Gary. That was a little more than I'd hoped.

    I think the only way you'll get money back on mods is if you sell the car privately.

    I don't know of a way of getting a cheaper crossing for 7 days. They seem to have got wise to people booking 2 separate day trips as they say they will charge your credit card with the full single fare amount.

    I take it your coming for longer than a day, or even a couple of days? The ferry companies seem to make their money that way, charging people that want to go for 5+ days a fortune.

    Same here, I'm very happy with my road angel. I had a snooper 815 before this and it just gave false alarms all the time and drove me mad.

    Loz, you can set the phone to connect automatically, much easier than having to select accept. Depends what you want but I never have any reason not to connect when I get in the car. Rod, as Loz said at the moment there would be no point in you changing, you'd loose the external aerial and charging facility. If you change the phone do look at bluetooth though, I've got the Nokia 112 kit and I love it.

    At that age there shouldn't be anything wrong, check out the alloys as Ian said, and also look for stone chips. Older cars suffered from ball joint problems, corroded alloys and brake disks and also stereo problems but you shouldn't see any of those. Welcome to the club!

    As well as the iPAQ options (and there are quite a few different type's available, I've got the NavMan unit) Garmin do a dedicated unit, the StreetPilot III which are available for £705 which is a good deal. I'm very happy with my NavMan solution, it does everything the more expensive factory fit options do.
