    well if it makes you feel any better I am looking at trading in my wife's e class fully loaded 3.5 years old with 25 k on the clock Cost us 34k best trade in 14,250 for an unmarked car ...and I was told Mercs dont loose value quickly!!! Alan

    two areas can cause the b pillar ratlle Its due to the fitting of the door latch or the grab handles can r attle as well Hold them down if continues its a trim off job and padding out the screws..I had mine done and its about 95 % gone alan

    The service depts at the dealers do look at the forum When I had all the original rattle problems Lexus woddford told me that they were reading to forum to see how common the same problems were and if other dealers had solutions to the rattles So its more hit and miss and I expect they only look at issues like warranty problems esp with the new models where they little info from lexus gb to go on alan

    HI I am interrested to know how many of the rattly cars are now 100 per cent rattle free. Both of mine have had the dash and stereo rattles done One also the b pillar whilst they are better they still are not as they should be. i have always felt that if a car rattles when new no matter what is done to it it will always rattle and vice versa Alan

    there are some around if you are not too fussy on colour I got one a month ago 2 week wait cadoxton slate sussex mm sel if I wanted a silver the wait was until sept with the new reg and al ratlles sorted at the factory...alan

    Tell them you will cancel the order as its too long to wait I bet you get the wheels free..or they should be able to swap them over with another car Things are not great in new car sales Iam surprised they are giving you any hassle at all! alan

    Just an off topic question.. Around us these cameras are springing up like (poison)mushrooms. Three of them on a one mile stretch of road...and to make matters worse the old limit has been reduced from 50 to 40! If you have not seen them they are on very tall poles (smallr and square) and the format is digital I wonder do they still flash if you are over the limit or are they truly digital alan

    Two main rattles The one needs the dash removed and new pins fitted to stop it hitting up against the front rail and glass Also thicker rubber bead fitted to make a better fit,, The second it from the air con vnet area that needs a bit of trial and error but invloved adding 'felt' arounf the radio housing to get a better fit both can be done with 100% cure but needs some expertise I am sure all lLexus service centres and getting to be experts on rattle fixes or these cars! alan alan

    All the new Is models have a firm ride Its a bit better on teh 16 inch wheels Kate if you have been told that the luxury version will soak up the bumps better dont buy that! If you want a softer ride then the BMw is not better ! but the mercs are alan

    I a pretty sure that as of September these rattles will be sorted They know where the problems are as they are the same in all the cars Well documented and at about 500 quid a go to fix it they will want to get it sorted alan Ps I have driven about 5 new cars and only one was 100% quiet although mine ( now back from Lexus woodford) is purfect..so it can be sorted with time and lots of patience

    hi all the new range have firm rides its better on the base model with 16 inch wheels but not too different from the BMw 3 series we have had rattle issues with both cars but now both are quiet..one little better than the other I agree with you the BMw interior is cheap and very dull to say the least I beleive the rattle fixes are in place on cars built after May so none are ih the Uk yet So wait a bit, But all said and done they are lovely cars..BTw the audio on the BMw is very poor compared to Lexus so if it rattles just turn up th e volume alan

    A recent article I came acrosss written by an expert in leather care states that other than keeping UV off the leather seats..nothing makes much difference at all. He goes on to state tht using creams and sprays only makes car owners feel that they are doing something to prevent the leather from ageing or cracking I have always used lexol twice a year on on my older cars the leather still looks quite good.. Anyone any comments? alan

    hi Glad your car is sorted I got mine back quiet and enjoying the drive Lexus did put some miles on the to test it extensvely for rattles but gave it back with a full tank to compensate I thought you would get good service from james in the end. alan

    HI Does anyone think its a good idea to change the oil in the diesel engine before the 10k.. I have always changed oil every 6 months and as theoil is only shell helix and not fully synthetic I wonder if its a good idea. alan Ps I once listened to merc ( according to the service book) and by 50k the engine was drinking oil..only to be told you should have changed the oil more often!!

    That sounds like a top tip. Aircon is one of those things that really should be used regularly, if not all the time. Not using aircon for long periods can affect the seals and lead to a build up of bacteria leading to smells. Some people don't use the aircon during the winter months and then get a musty smell when they first switch it on in the Spring. Thanks the car is almost new so I was surprised I read somewhere that toyota sell an aicon cleaner but Iwill take it back.I do use the aicon summer and winter surprised this has happened so early on alan

    HI I think this has been covered before but anyone found a lasting cure for the aircon smell.. now that i have zero rattles how about zero smell or least new car smell!! alan

    HI I am sure they wil see it right even it means full replacement of the seats. I drove a sports demo only a few months old and the seats show a lot of wear I wonder how much the fabric was tested prior to being fittted alan

    HI No auto lock and any Toyotas My daughter has a yaris...I am always on at her to central lock the doors...Surely if its on the Us models its only a software mod Perhaps we shuould lobby Lexus Gb to add this safetly feature..there are plently of nanny features so why not this useful one! Alan Ps One of the other user groups are having a big meeting with lexus gb to delete some of the nanny features..wonder how they will get on

    HI The rattle( tapping) that appeared to come from the satnav housing turned out to be from the ventilation grill above and behind the screen Took the dealer 4 hours to fix had the grill out four times and felt added around it ..now as quiet as it should have been !!!! BTW the loan car on an o6 plate..5,500 miles and does the seat creak..is this the next saga...well at least there never is a dull moment and lexus dealers will have lots to do!! alan
