  1. Got car back today dash rattle only slighly better is spite of the dash out routine Now the rattle seems to come from AV screen display area Like a tapping sound on and off..not temp sensitive Anyone had the same sort of rattle yet. B pillar buzz on passenger side still there And no response form LExus GB..surprise surprise I reakon its time to dump both cars much the pity as they are great to drive just hell to live with unless you have lots of time to spend at the dealers, writing letters and running up phone bills! And I thought buying and driving new cars was meant to be a treat esp when they cost 30k or more!! alan
  2. I think I will be. Bought car mid January this year. 4,500 miles on the clock. Quiet as a mouse when I picked it up. Slowly got more and more rattly. What's the point in making a car thats so quiet inside if it's going to start ratlling, no matter how slight the rattles/creaks. I bought a second one having been assured that all build qaulity issues had been sorted..not so at all its no better at all! My new one is in at the moment for the dashout job I have made a complaint to lexus gb about it at least my local workshop is very good and honest !! Alan
  3. with all the rattles and other issues buy neither and wait till the coast is clear! Make no mistake these are wonderful, comfortable cars to drive but not until lexus listen to us and get the build quality up to scratch alan
  4. Alex kirby is awy at the moment but the other two are more senior. I am sure you will get a new dash and seat! All lexus people are meant to be trained to the same high standard but this does not seem to be the case. All of us shuold get together and demand compensation for the poor build quality of these cars.. They are a disgrace to the brand alan
  5. Complain like crazy what shocking and shoddy work the email for lexus gb customer service are steve.settle@lgb.lexus.co.uk gill.want@lgb.lexus.co.uk I think you should try to get a new car form them How old is the car? I had extensive work carried out for rattles at Woodford but the car was returned as new..but still with some little rattles Good luck alan
  6. It took a day for my dealer to take the dash apart and fix two rattles, but I did gain a new one. Whereabouts is your rattle ? Welcome to the club..( rattle club that is) Yes its a dash out job MIne had it too now replaced its quiet and no problems As a number have been done Lexus know about the problem and how to fix it. The dash is taken out for quite a few other jobs so although it takes a long time to do it will be fine...but as for lexus build quality etc dont get me started.. How old is your car as I thought the rattle issues had been sorted on the newer built ones Good luck alan Purchased March 06 . The rattle seems to come form the passnger side of the dash from your desription its a dash out job..I quite agree with you that ripping the dashout with all the looms etc is 100% out of order. We all should join together and demand some compensation form Lexus alan
  7. Rattles on the GS sound the same problem on the IS This seems to be a lexus trade mark so much so that the reliability index has now dropped from 1st to 6thand below FORD. alan
  8. 52 always driven mercs and bmws so its a big change alan
  9. Contrary to what I had been told none of the cars sold in the Uk have been upgraded to deal with the rattle issues So there really are no old or new ones Alan
  10. yes that is it in a nut shell..but when are lexus going to wake up!!! alan
  11. Hi I note that in the reliability index by warranty direct which Honest John favours over JD Power( see below) Lexus is now 6th...below FORD and SKODA.!!!!! At the start of the year it was first. This surely is damming for lexus and does not auger well for the future as well as residual values of our cars. I knew that at some stage build quality issues would start to impact their rating and here is the proof. Alan [They ( JD Power)are questionnaire opinion surveys. If enough of the owners questioned give the cars the thumbs up then the car does well in the survey. I prefer Reliabililty Index by Warranty Direct because that is based on the hard facts of real warranty claims, not people's opinions, prejudices and desire to protect the value of their investment.]
  12. Hopefully get rid of the build quality isssues for a start! alan
  13. Well it had to happen!!! our new lexus has now developed the dash and b pillar rattle. The dealer checked it today and agreed that its the dash out job. I really thought that Lexus Japan had had this sorted but no one seems to know if any action has been taken out there at all. I cannot see lexus on this form being anywhere near the top of the JD POwer survey next year! My only comfort is that the last rattle was cured and did not cause(so far) any other problems I feel that all of us should now make a complaint to LExus GB directly so that real action can ben taken in Japan to sort this out so other buyers dont have to go to the trouble that we have had to to get what we paid for..and a long term promise that if the dash removal causes problems in the dash area in the long term we will be covered and compensated alan
  14. Hi Well there are 3 dash rattles The one is a rattle..like a tapping sound due to the dash hitting the glass This is caused by the clips that hold the dash in This is a dash out job 3 days. Your rattle sounds more like the lesser on which is around the video screen and ventilation grill this is a radio out and felt padding job.... half a day There also is a rattle from the fornt speaker grill which is easy to fix All of these are known to lexus and fixes are on the dealers web sites for them to use Your car is an 'early one' the factory fixed these only on the very latest build dates good luck alan T

  16. I hope I get asked because I'm not that impressed. I was attracted to Lexus because I'd heard about the fantastic service you get from Lexus dealers and to be honest it's no better than I got when I had my old Ford Orion years ago. I've just paid £230 at Lexus Newcastle for a 10k service on a is250 and to be honest you wouldn't know it. 1. They've charged me £10 for loan car - first time that's ever happened to me. 2. The oil has cost 3.74 per unit for 13 units - I have no idea what units we are talking about - can't be litres. £48 for cheap Shell Helix seems excessive. 3. Charged for screenwash and I'd filled the reservoir right up the night before. But the main thing that ****** me right off was the fact they haven't even washed it. I've had Audis and when you get back in after a service it's been washed and hoovered and they put an air freshener in. It's a small point but at least it makes you feel like you've had some value for your money. I'm probably being a right moaner but I was given the impression that Lexus Customer Service was a step up from Audi, not two steps back. This is a disgrace You shuld report the dealer to lexus uk every time my car has been in for rattle etc it has come back spotless. In fact there was a mark on the armrest and it was repalced FOC!! Once where they had done a lot of test driving it was handed back with a full tank of fuel..that is whatt lexus is all about ..if they still want to win JD Power survrys each year! alan
  17. The new Is I suspect will still do quite well Largely because other luxury manufacturers are so bad now We have had Mercedes refuse to replace the ball joints and 4 badly corroded wheels under warranty! Years ago Merc could no do enough for customers even eplacew things pas the warranty date... Lexus still try to go that bit further. I know that I have rattles etc but the car is very reliable and the local dealer haas done everything possible to rectify the problems. The only thing that I feel is that LExus GB do not seem to go that extra bit that they claim that they do. Their customer service at that level should and could be better.. once it is clear that the dealer is not looking after customer's complaint adequetly. All said and done i would still buy another lexus! Alan
  18. HI welcome to your new 220 The handbrake can be adjusted mine needed it. rattle may evenresult in a new seat depends on the dealer Forget 6th in the UK the car is a 5 speed box! which is a pity but as the car does well at 2,500 rpm at 70 and the fuel useage ok I am happy to leave 6 th alone until we venture abroad alan
  19. HI Well now that summer is here at last how are you finding the front seat 'coolers.' Mine seem to work off and on and in traffic make little or no difference at all. Are they linked to the aircon settings? driving speed, temp settings etc Any thoughts alan
  20. There is a 100% cure for the dash rattle Lexus australia would have access to teh video made whe my dash rattle was cured alan
  21. Hi Has the dealer not fixed the problems also the satnav..that sounds appaling.. Have you taken any action to get the car sorted we have 2 and the newer build diesel has been A1 I would not buy from our local dealer but the service dept are VERY helpful alan
  22. I quite agree both have great overtaking ability ..prefer the petrol for smooth power delivery alan That's the thing with the Petrol/auto, it is just so smooth, and if you like that sort of thing it's incredible, especially in a small exec. The diesel on the other hand seems to give more feel. I did a 250 mile round trip yesterday, filled up on the way out of Leicester, and averaged 45.2 mpg, this included the swift exceution of a fair few "overtaking" opportunities on some A roads and motorways. Made me smile a few times... For a change I didn't use Cruise, and wasn't driving gently at all. In my old A4, if you floored it the guy behind you couldn't see a thing 'cos of the soot...this one never seems to smoke at all.... The car feels well run in at 2000 miles, and has loosened up considerably. 1st to 2nd is best if you take 1st to 3000rpm/18-20mph. It's also easier to drive from 15-18mph in 3rd, and now 4th at 30mph though the response is leisurely. In the Petrol you can actually stick it into 5th at 30 mph and it's still responsive, but I could never get a manual petrol to over 22-3 MPG in pure town no matter how hard I tried. My diesel now manages high 20's in town. This is not brilliant by any means, as I still think any diesel with 4 cylinders in this category should be engineered to provide the best in terms of economy and performance and 30plus regularly is expected by most drivers in this field. I still think Lexus tried too hard in making it the fastest (greatest BHP and huge turbo) and the most economical (hugely tall gearing), and to some degree failed both When they did the official tests for the Co2 etc, they must have got the best possible the car could give...I suppose this is where the Sport gives a better balance...still not tried one...maybe on Thursday!! :winky: PS - Still a great car to drive...no real regrets buying one, though I have a small rattle from the B post drivers side! Great summary puts the IS220d in a nut shell! I also have new b post rattle but it is easily fixed( I am told) with just taking the trim off some more insulation and an adjustment on the catch. The passenger side one I had is gone and has not come back!! alan
