  1. im 99% sure the IS doesnt have a fuel filter. I tried ordering one off Chris.S and im sure he said there isn't one. Craig
  2. sad news, there is nothing more annoying. ah well it will look as good as new soon. Craig
  3. Ive Just had my service done on my car. I have 91K on the clock but brought in feb and it was ex bt fleet hire so was only serviced by Lex once so because I'm so trusting? I decided to have a full service early. I ordered a timing belt and tensioner, oil filter and cabin filter from Chris.S, many thanks, and brought some spark plugs from local garage. I had all fluids replaced including Diff trans and brakes. all belts swapped and traking done aswell as the mot wich it flew through. it cost £250 for all the garage work including MOT and fluids and about £130 for the parts from chris aswell as plugs and v belts. the Garage Ive used for about 5 years and trust them implicitly (plus the head mecanic has had a IS200) I picked it up this evening and Its unberlievable. I turned the radio off, wound down the window and asked my wife 'can you hear that?' she said 'No' I said 'EXACTLY ' It was so quiet. when I first bought it was good and took a while to realise that I hadn't stalled everytime I stopped but now Ive started getting paranoid again! It's far too quiet! It's not just the engin It's the cabin aswell when you drive along It's just so quiet and comfortable If these are this good It must be amazing in the LS and GS as these were ment to be Lexus' unlike the IS I can understand why people get frustrated with rattles in the new models because that would be all you would hear in them. I love my LEX. Craig
  4. From time to time I get flack but normaly Im just on during 'busy work periods' at work so i get away with it. she's watching Americas next top model at the mo so it was this or watching paint dry and well, Ive obviously ran out of paint!? Craig
  5. yes kind of try this, again sorry for rubish quick drawings: Im sure you get the idea. to stop it from falling on its face I would just put a small fixing onto the speaker shelf. When I do any alterations to any car I try and make it so you could take it out and no one would know so hence not just screw them to the seat. are you using your sat nav? is it coming through your new stereo? Craig
  6. Ye it was hard to get my hands on for a reasonable price. I could only get one though. Maybe when the box is delivered i can try copy its dimensions and make an amp enclosure to match on the other side. That would be exactly what i want to do! I think it might be fiberglassed though and an arse to copy perhaps do something like my idea with just the amps agains the seat, that shouldnt involve too many complex curves and be out the way for boot space and spare wheel. up to you. how much was the stealth box? Craig I always go sealed aswell, sealed is supposed to give you quicker response so do variations in base and ported is best for real deep bass but that is repetative. Also porting a box isn't just a case of drilling the right size hole, there's alot more to it than that and Im no techy working for infinity or B&W, it's easy to get a sealed box to sound good and easy to get a ported box to sound v v BAD. Craig PS Niraj's stuff always seems to look good and very well finished so it will be interesting to see what he puts on here. PPS are you using your sat nav? I thort they worked through the stereo?
  7. thats really good. must have taken ages to edit that as well as that. Craig
  8. thats a really nice stealth box. niraj has a good idea with mounting the amps in an opposite stealth box. would look good and not take up too much useable space. Craig
  9. Shame I dont have pics of the ones ive fitted in cars before but all I did was measure the standard box make that out of mdf but the face of it i'd extend and cut a hole out of it and mount the amp next to it from behind so all wires were hidden. You should get a general idea from the diagram (sorry, i did it in 5 mins in paint, works only drawring program) it should just fit behind the big mat and back to the seats and between the arches so you could get to your wheel and I always use conector plugs so If you go on holiday say and you need the space you just unplug and take it out. dont worry about screwing it down because the weight and fit will stop it moving too much. Make sure joints are tight fit and only use mdf sealing it with silicone and filling with car filler. If you spray paint use pva 50/50 mixed with water to seal the spraying surface or the paint will soak in and give an awfull finish and make sure you give it lots of undercoat. v important for there to be no air holes in the sub box. I used 12mm and occationaly 18mm, 18mm is over kill though. the whole for the sub could go in the top or back facing the seat back or in the side facing the arch, whatever will sound and look best. I generally spray painted mine to match the colours of my cars but you could carpet it or fiberglass it to make it fancy, up to you. the last one had a second slot cut out for a multichanger aswell. hope this may help craig.
  10. thats worrying! I live in a water world!
  11. yes Ive done it with wing mirrors but make sure you turn the oven off after you've baked them for about an hour and let the pieces cool for an hour or more other wise the paint will stay soft and you'll put finger marks on it. some people use a hair dryer, Don't, it just distorts the paintwork. I think I put it on about 80°C too. Craig
  12. I feel well sorry for them though, I'd be gutted if it happened to me. that white van man cracked the creen with his head! thanks alot Craig
  13. its the petrol cap cover try lexus though it may be a warantee job.
  14. yeah but there is 2 extra, 1 in each front post and i think there is an extra curtain across the top aswell but cant remember exactly. Craig
  15. cant critisize others but can put the middle finger up in a picture!? bizzare.
  16. 2000-2001 changed the radio changed the speaker grills on front doors added air bags lowered the suspention (sportier ride but still very comfortable) changed the front grill dark cromed the rear lights I think that is it. Craig
  17. I drive like a grandad now but when i had the starion I thort I was invincable. I clearly wasn't but It showed alot of new cars what quality 70's Japanise engineering could do. I often had little races but they were always well intentioned and gave each other a little wave at the end to say thanks. I even had a brand new 320 evo 8 race against me and there wasn't much in it. the most satisfying was having a carrera 4 pull in behind even though he was trying to cut me up and overtaking a TVR chimera (must be a small one as the 400bhp would clearly have blits it). them were the days If I could afford an FQ400 evo IX I most definatly would!
  18. Well the one i have had has never given be problems - apart from the once i have made...:) i was looking in to ford but i'm sick of them now..... so no swap... it's only 11 years old and got 182,000 on it. you'd be mad to miss out on a bargin...:) Nah, sorry. I love my IS. many thanks for the offer though.
  19. I think they will be too thick. the main problem is speedo would be out. the width you would perhaps get away with but it would not be as safe as the correct size, if im wrong somone will let you and me know.
