  1. all i did was take them off. sand them with medium sand paper and then fine thenuse halfords own brand paint as it is very good, use grey metal high build primer and finaly sprayed them satin black (dont use gloss or a proper car colour paint as the finish will look cheap, unless you realy know what your doing) they look like brand new. and cost no more than £15 in total for all the materials. oh and only took a couple of hours at most apart from waiting over night for paint to harden a bit before putting them back on. craig
  2. if the car recognises the imobalizer the alarm will sound for 10seconds after the key is put in the ignition if the car doesn't recognise it, it wont even start. Craig
  3. good old halfords have them listed in there little card things infront of the wiper selections, I think they even do a set because one is longer than the other. Craig
  4. 24 is good but it should be made into 12 to make it a little more interesting. I do tend to lose interest after about 8 episodes. this one does look better than the rest and keep my attention for the full series. But if they are bringing out a film why 3? why is everyone jumping on the band wagon and bringing out more films than are needed, gone are the days when they made an amazing film and then on the responce decided wether to make another (Die hard, Alien, ect). now to make even money they seem to bringing out fillers, where the middle is no good in its own right, im going to offend a few but like the latest pirates of the carabian, first film is great the last one I was clock watching after an 1hr because the end was padded so they can charge you admition for another film where the start will probably be padded out with nonesence. I'm about to offend even more! same with Bord Lord of the Rings, it could have been two great amazing films but they decided to make 3 at 3 hours! why? admitadly a classic english novel and nice for the world to see some culture but why 3 3hr boring films? sorry rant over
  5. I hope you get it sorted and please keep us informed. Craig
  6. Yes the SE is the best value. sport is a little better but may be alot more expensive. 90k is nothing on these mine has done 92K and everyone that has seen it and been in it asume it's done 40K ish and look gob smaked if they find out. try and get a late 00 or even better 01 as there is a few minor changes that are good eg stereo more air bags speaker grills front grill lower suspention heated front window and mirrors cant remeber any more Craig
  7. if its just the trim you can replace and you would prob not notice. if you replace them I would suggest replacing the whole side as the trim will be different colour to the door but people just asume its because the light hits it differently but the other trims next to it will (probably) show it up. find out how much Lex charge for them and find out how much a body shop would charge just to spray them. I asume it would be about £100-£150 for body shop to just spray them IF you take them off for them. I hope this makes sense. Craig
  8. get gran tourismo 4 for the PS2 and it has that track on it, exactly the same as the real thing but no where near as fun obviously. practice the track and you'll know all the corners and get a loads better time next time. I had only seen monti carlo on the tv and playing racing games, scary how close it is, infact our group got lost but I found the way home as I recognised land marks from the game! Craig
  9. I don't think it's a problem. I don't think it puts you off anymore than whalling like a banshee to your favorite CD ( if your car hasn't got ERR3) :D who drives with one arm hanging out the window on beautifull summer days? who double checks there speedo at the yellow box even though you know your doing the speed limit for just enough time for the idiot infront to slam on thier brakes without you noticing? what about sat navs blearing in your ear making you look at it and not the road at EVERY junction you come to? sorry Craig :D
  10. I had full leather in my last car and vowed I would not have a car without it, I comprimesed with the half leather and I actually prefer it now, no sweaty / sticky legs / back in summer and it looks beter, I feel, than the leather. PS try not to get an S spec the SE is worth the extra for heated seats, better stereo, half leather, bigger alloys and im sure there is lots more but I cant remember them try one and you may be pleasently supprised. Craig
  11. just to let you and others know, the fuel filter is something that is 'only replaced when faulty' but can be obviously be cleaned. good outcome :) Craig
  12. whats this? i've never heard about this before, please enlighten me? great car, lovely colour, black is the new black!? its nice youve gone for the light interior I bet it looks great. Craig
  13. I think the search function only works with 4 or more letters. I find it difficult to find what I need but you have to be persistant with it. sorry Craig
  14. glad your happily back in the Lex. It seems strange that they didn't just replace all 4 alloys anyway as it's normally cheaper to buy a set than even 2 (in alot of cases). happy motoring Craig
  15. 'Designed to break up' another word for italian engineering! Craig
  16. You haven't taken into account the differing acoustics from one house to the other! How can you possibly say that the cable makes no difference when you changed the entire environment in which the rest of the system sits? I got decent cable when I recently (well a year or so ago) upgraded my hifi speakers at home. I did a back to back test of 3.99/m cheapo copper bi-wire from Richer Sounds (my old cable) then changed it for QED 25th annivesary special edition cable. Immediately there was a difference, greater clarity in the upper reaches and greater separation in the bass. This is with Arcam Alpha 7 sources, Alpha 8 pre- and power-amps (ie bi-amped), and Monitor Audio S5 speakers, so reasonable stuff to test with. No offence, but I think the fact you can't tell the difference says more about the listener's ears than about the equipment!! :P Anyway - seriously now! :) Mike fair point but Unless you have done it back to back and go from really crap to really good, wich the aniversary is, you dont notice and in a car the power levels are too low to make a massive difference so all I am doing is warning people not to spend too much on wires thinking it will seriously change the sound. As I said if you swap it dont waste money on really expensive but just get some thicker, tad more expensive wire. no offence ment to be given and I will take no offence, just my 2p's worth sorry Ive e-mailed the guy aswell about a phono imput like what Prolex was selling he says he should be able to do it. I hope so as Ive been waiting for ages now. Craig
  17. they can nearly always be reconditioned for about £100 and normaly on an exchange basis so no waiting around. Craig
  18. could always introduce a service type MOT as in every 1 year its a minor MOT that you get a certificate for and the garage just checks major bits like tyre's and brakes so its quick and cheaper and the 2 year is the full MOT that is the same as it is now. I like my cars in top condition and get things checked all the time but people are right that some just drive around in unsafe cars so there is benifits for having bianual MOT's and benifits of having anual MOT's Just a quick thought Craig
  19. from what i have read you cant change just the speakers and get better clarity as they work at differnt ohms to standard speakers because of the amp. you could swap them and they will wok but be no better than what you have now I asume but I dont know that you could buy some sort of inverter that converts the power from the amp/wiring to what the new speakers take and that would make them better I may be wrong but someone more knowledgable will let you know. Craig
  20. well done Daz, there's nothing more satisfying than having your hard work recognised in a Mag. Congwats craig
  21. as everyone has said its probably the belt, try WD40 but only a little and it will prob go away or tighten them, if not replace the belts IF IT BOTHERS YOU as it is NOT serious at all. Craig
  22. Ours was less than an 120K p Reg 1.5 N/A 106 pug DIESEL to insure! how does that work? Craig
