  1. The main offenders from last year (and JAPS) have been spoken to in advance ...... the admin have been warned that they are responsible for their club and and clubs that prove to not respect the rules won't be welcome back.
  2. Nice to see you peeps again - sorry for the sudden disappearence - got a call and had to dash. See you next weekend though! :D
  3. The great British disease - appathy! :duh: By the time they wake up - we'll all know each other!
  4. Welcome back Shrek!!!! Just in time for JAE too - can you make it???? I do hope so!
  5. Right - sod the F1 - I'll be there (So long as no-one has any objections to 3 Honda cars coming along....)!!!! Just had a FANTASTIC track day (which also involved a certain Lexus!), and feel like a cruise out tomorrow just enjoying the wind in my hair.
  6. Matt - this Meguires stuff ....... tisn't our brand of choice so I'd not even thought - but one of our Club members is a big fan (and cleaning nut) ...... would you do discount for fully paid up members 'over there' too? This post of his will show you how nuts he is! :winky: http://forum.hondarevolutions.com/viewtopi...pic.php?t=10329 BTW - do you all realise the F1 is on????? I will have company over who are kipping at my house after the track day, and we will all be watching the F1 in the afternoon with chips and dips..... so I will still try to get over, but it may only be for a short meet and then back for the race (and in my case - beer!)
  7. No way would it not be noticed, the fit was awful - the diagonal lines where the two sections meet at either side were uneven - one was about 1mm gap all the way along, but with a 1 inch strip of plastic scoured. The other was tight at the top (no gap) and about 4mm gap at the outer edge! :duh: A chip out of the dash plastic too. All on a car that was a few weeks old.
  8. B) Well said!!! I gave a prize at one show to an old G plate Supra - nothing much had been done to it, it wasn't perfect - but it was gleaming and you could see that time had been spent rather than money, and it was loved!!! A good judge (IMO) isn't 'just' checking the car - he/she is also checking the owner....... If the car has just been taken to a company, handed over with a pot of cash and the words "give me a show winner" but the owner hasn't been involved, helped choose what is to be done, got dirty doing some or all the work .... that isn't an enthusiast - it is just someone with lots of money! When it comes to Club meets - the people matter MORE than the cars. Like minded enthusiasts. It doesn't matter what you are driving if you are an enthusiast! As far as I am concerned, someone driving a rather 'used' Starlet or a TFATF style TT Supra - both are equally welcome on the TOC stand!
  9. Lol - first time I've looked in this thread ...... I should have known! :duh: Funny - we had a poor young girly come to one of our meets recently, she was very nice and attractive in that 'obvious' way :winky: and later the forum talk was more about the poor girl than the meet!!!! When a few of us girls that attend the meets on a regular basis asked why we were never the subject of excited banter ...... we were told "Oh - you are real car enthusiasts, we respect you too much to see you in that way" ........ some men can think fast can't they!
  10. Lol - there were different categories last year - so quite possible to walk away with more than one prize - we walked away with lots of prizes at JAPs this year ...... and I kept well away while they were judging ..... I wanted to come see - but couldn't get away from my Club duties! :P I am sure this year though the judging will be harder still as it isn't different categories - it is 1st, 2nd and 3rd - which means decided whether the best stock car is better or worse than the best moddified car, or the best classic car (not actually relevant here as I don't think there are Lexus cars old enough)
  11. Sorry to say - this isn't a surprise. The product (once right - they have been known to get sizes wrong) is very good. The customer sevice is shocking! We have had many many people telling the same tale on the Honda Revolutions forum. What beats me - if they have too much demand and they can't cope - why are they still advertising in every mag? I have their product on one of my cars, and its very good - but I won't recommend them because of the customer service issues with new customers. Having said that - I recently had a problem and needed a part sorting - I posted it to them, they repaired (very good job as well) and posted it back to me WITHIN 2 days!!!! And FOC. I was shocked and stunned.
  12. Before people squeal fix regarding who did/didn't win (I know all good humour not real - but just to clarify) ..... the two judges last year were Phil and Jon from Honda Revolutions. Neither of them EVER use this forum, don't know the people on here ... just fellow car enthusiasts and knowledgeable enough to form reasonable opinions over what is a good & treasured car. B)
  13. Glad you had a better time than me - my stereo was replaced under warranty as the radio didn't work. The first replacement fitted wasn't tested as as soon as I got in the car I discovers it wouldn't accept any CDs! :duh: Additionally the dealer had damaged my dash while taking the original one out. Booked in - another stereo fitted, and dash 'repaired'. :tsktsk: The repair consisted of the damage being coloured in! Back again and the dash was refitted (I had massive 'shut lines' that hadn't existed when the car was new - a few short months previous to this) and more colouring in. I cut my losses before they made it worse. My first ever brand new car, and I never had it perfect. The dash isn't 'bad' but I see it. The rattle behind the dash when the car is in 2nd, 4th or 6th gear is still there ..... not major things, but disappointing. I certainly won't ever use that dealer again (incidentally no longer a Lexus dealer anyway)
  14. Is the Soarer not a Toyota??? :winky: These cars just require the right owners ... then the advertising agents find them (used to be more common for these sort of adverts ..... less so now due to all those darned cynics....... like moi! :D ) 1,000,000 miles in 10 years is a huge amount though. I know a chap (Dan) who bought his new car in March (I think) 2002 and is now upto almost 90,000 miles and that is going some ..... he spends a lot of his day on the road but he has taken 16 months to cover 90k miles .... I dread to think how someone can cover 100k every 12 months - unless it has been used in shifts by more than one driver? Does anyone remember the Nissan 200SX that was driven non-stop for years (just stopping for oil changes etc (obviously cooled sufficient to service) then back out again ??? It was done to demonstrate that the engine would still be fine after heavy use so long as the prescribed servicing was done. I can't remember what the mileage was but they then stripped it down to check for wear and it was minimal - almost like new. (I think it was about 250k miles)
  15. Lol - you tart - never keep them long do you!? (Am I refering to cars here......?) Good advert though - was it a Volvo advert that once pointed out that something like 85% of it's cars were still on the road???? (I personally think it's cos the old duffers driving them are all still stuck in a one-way system or on a ring road!!) :D
  16. Lol - humour detector failed boys??? TBH - perhaps I am too blase - half a million miles is an achievment - no doubt about it! Just it is a big engine .... and when there are several ickle 1.6 VTECs in this country that I know of, with over 360,000 miles (one is getting close to 390,000 now) that are still on the original engine etc (but lots of new cambelts :D ) you start to expect it - which is wrong! I must say - it looks in very fine condition for such a high miler!!!
  17. Yeah - but do bear in mind that the steering rack and suspension have never undergone much wear ...... tis the states - no corners!
  18. Get a Monkey bike - fit it in the boot! Sos.... not helpful - but your username made me do it ....... :shutit:
  19. I wasn't suggesting or thinking for one moment that this was a 'remover' - just meaning that it can get difficult. however ..... I really do hope that you are not discriminating against Loz and Wildrnes on account of a few smutty innuendos!!! :winky: :D
  20. Well I confess to being pretty anti religion. I agree with many of the 'teachings' but I just personally believe that most churchs/religions are corrupt and rewrite stuff to 'keep the surfs down' or for financial profit. Plus it is pretty hard to think of many wars that don't boil down to religion..... people can have debates, but when it involves *** stuff - it always gets heated. But - this is 'general chat' so my views don't come into this....... his asking for donations is no different to my asking last year for people to support the Macmillan fund raising we were doing bu buying raffle tickets at JAE. Those who wished to support the Macmillan nurses and their work with Cancer victims came and bought tickets or made donations..... those that didn't stayed well away! I have no problem with him asking. I'll stick to my anti-cancer stuff though! It is a very tough line though and a difficult job for the admin to decide ..... what is legitimate, fair 'general chat' etc - what is going over the line? What for example if someone was fund raising for the IRA? Lets face it - many see them as freedom fighters not terrorists, so they would see it as legitimate........ Anyway ... box jellyfish - are they more dangerous as they are peed off after being stuffed in a box then?????? :winky:
  21. Sort of - we got £10 off Elvington, £20 off Anglesey and anyone who did Elvington and Combe and does Croft gets Anglesey for free!!! We get the second day at Anglesey for £50 too (if do first day there whether paying the £99 or getting it for free)
  22. I use an Olympus C-700 Ultra Zoom. Check DABS out - very reasonable on soft as well as hardwear.
  23. Lol - v funny considering the PM I've just sent you over at the other place ......
