  1. All looks a bit new fangled to me ....... I run an old arcade cab - want to get the Ghosts & Goblins Jamma for it next! Currently have Pheonix, Galaxians, Pacman, Bombjack ........ and a few others - retro gaming is B) (Oh -I do have another arcade cab that is a bit more modern ....... Sega Touring Car! )
  2. I don't get on here that much these days ...... has something been kicking off? :shutit:
  3. :winky: Thanks for the thumbs up from those who have been in my ickle Baby .... although we of course never drove quickly As has already been said - depends what you want from the car - all your options are so different from each other, it really doesn't tell us what floats your boat. For me - I wanted THE Supercar. In Japan, they love the Skyline etc - but the NSX is the only one they consider as their Supercar. It just feels special. I have also driven the Supra - bute power in comparison, still a great car and good fun - not as tail happy as it's weight would lead you to believe, but crude in comparison with the NSX. The Merc - no comment .... I'm neither old enough nor fat enough! :winky: There are lots of cars faster than the NSX - it isn't 'that' powerful really - but it has poise and really rewards the keen driver. I would like lessons to get a better handle on mine as in the hands of a good driver - I have experienced it apparently defying the laws of physics!!! However - if you are considering an Acura one rather than Honda - I am guessing that you are at the top of your budget and getting one of the cheapest avaiable - these are VERY difficult to sell on. Obviously all Accura NSXs are left hand drive - and the insurance will be more. They are in group 20 insurance rating already ...... if you can stretch to it - a UK car makes much better sense in the long run. Also though - the running costs are not bad - but certain costs are steep. Remember that even if you are only paying £20k for one - you are buying a £60k Supercar - low volume, expensive. Fuel costs - I get better economy from the NSX than I do my IS200 (seriously!!) .... also the last service only cost me just over £100 ..... but every 6 years (or 60k miles) you have the cambelt service which will cost you about £1,200. Rear tyres - usually last about 5k miles (normal driving) but if you give it serious beans - you can see them off in a day (on track) or in less than 1,000 hard road miles. The original Bridgestones are made for the NSX and since the car has larger rear wheels and the tyres are directional - that means a set of 4 tyres ..... every tyre is different! The original tyres are scrub tyres - but with shopping around, you can get a complete set for about £600. If you need to know more about the NSX and the ownership experience - feel free to drop me a line - or pop accross to the HondaRevolutions forum. One thing I would say - it was my dream car - I picked mine up 2nd Feb 2002 ..... and the novelty STILL has not worn off! It still feels special, it still gives me a buzz everytime I take her out of the garage. If you dream ofowning a supercar, and you have the means and opportunity - do it! Life is not a dress rehearsal! :P
  4. And pay for staff, the pumps, the huge tanks, the fire/explosion protection, the land, the gantry ...... and make a profit. That is only a 23% mark-up - not huge to go towards all the overheads. I bet Shell UK's margin is better than the retailers!
  5. That is how we conducted voting for the Honda Revolutions Calendar - it didn't take much work to count up the votes, and so long as people trust those doing the counting not to bump their own scores (which I trust them) .... it works fine!
  6. Not being a 'kiss 'n' tell kinda gal ..... I couldn't possibly answer! :winky: :P
  7. Bit odd too - the CTR has 200bhp and is several hundred kgs lighter ..... plus has a much sportier set up for handling the twisties ........ perhaps he wasn't up for playing on the roads, or wasn't a confident driver!? Not really a method for comparing cars - only which one has the biggest nut at the wheel! :P
  8. Trust me - we are not an internet club ..... the forum is a tiny part of the membership - hence we have over 35% of our membership don't have internet access, and over half the membership never use the forum. The magazine is very nice, as is the glossy A3 calendar with pictures of members cars (part of the Club membership pack) As for CRV owners ... we only have 8 CRV owners in the Club and just 2 HRVs ...... but one of the CRVs is owned by the wife of the chap who supercharged his Integra, and has a new NSX. The CRV has had a few underbonnet changes to enhance its on road performance! :winky: No worries using the forum without being a member of the Club though. The S2000 buyers guide will only be available though while stocks last! :winky:
  9. Forgot to add ...... if you decide an S2000 is your thing in 6 months - come chat with us at a meet. Also pop across to the HondaRevolutions website and buy the back issue of Revolutions - Issue 2 (NSX Cover) as it has a very good S2000 buyers guide. (Used Car Buyer magazine even asked if they could reproduce part of it)
  10. Lol - and I get called a tight Yorkshire lass!!! I don't get any discounts. I attend events with the Honda Club. I don't even come in here that often ...... but I still pay the £25 and have done since the Club launched - just to support it !!! I think there is a great bunch in this Club and so I want to see it do well. Even though it is unlikely I will buy another Lexus. :shutit: I will still want to gate crash your meets though and drink beer with you guys at events where we camp over (Japs/JAE etc) !!! :P B)
  11. Please not a Nova or Metro - both have woeful safety!!! The 4th gen Civic is not quite as good as the 5th gen with regards to safety...... but even then, airbags etc have only become common fit in more recent years (newer than a £1k budget will allow). 4th gen (88-91) Civic 1.4GL is a very good car, I think group 8 but low listing. The 306 is very cheap to insure due to standard security being high and the radio no good to other cars - but being French - not on a £1k car!!! At the age you are looking at - I agree that Jap is the best as far as being reliable, but not best for spare parts prices - if you have a local Jap car breakers - this will be advantageous. Good luck to him for his test - and try not to worry too much when he sets off on his own!
  12. This is wrong!!! If you have a ding - chances are the person who did it has left - you are then damaging the innocent person who parked there afterwards. Scratching another car does not remove your ding - get caught on camera and you could be facing a criminal damages action! Now Loz's actions - entirly reasonable! I must say - people throwing litter out is a real hate of mine!! And the dings - I have NEVER opened my door into anyone's car - I always have my fingers between my door and the car if in a tight space ...... yet I've had damage done too. Why? As has been said - selfish and ignorant people - some jealous, some ingorant, some brain dead. Don't assume the old cars are the worst either - I drove beaters for years until I could afford better - still never opened my door into anyone - one day I came to my car and some oick was putting kids into the back seat - with the door LEANING on my car - I obviously told them to get their door off my car - and who on earth did they think they were damaging someone else's property - I got such a withering look and some comment about it only being an old Fiesta "Yes .... it is an old Fiesta - but it is MY old Fiesta and you have no right to damage it you fat, sad pretentious cretin" I've calmed down as I got older.
  13. Must say - I'm a bit disappointed with replies stating that you should chose Lexus as the badge says more class - and references to what others think..... Have I drifted onto the BMW forum????? We should chose our cars on the basis of the car and what we like best - not uying a badge/image or worrying about other people's perception. As I said before - The CTR and the IS are too different to compare. I (obviously) like both, but for different reasons - none of my reasons are to do with image though!
  14. I assume it's the 600 not the 250? They look bigger than they are as they use the same back wheel as the Fireblade!! B)
  15. Sorry to hear this Claire! I hope you get it sorted before you start the new job .... you don't need the added stress! Good to hear you get a Lexus to drive while yours is being repaired though!
  16. Matt - check the link ...... they do one specifically for light shades, I think it may be called Blanc or something - I don't have any white cars so can'tt answer from memory - Japon always suits me! :P
  17. I would also add a recomendation for Zymol. Not the cheap 'turtle wax' stuff they sell in Halfords - the real thing..... A "Japon kit" or "Carbon" can be ordered for about £80 and you chose leather or fabric (for the interior cleaner) and standard or Carbon for Colours or Black paintwork. The kit includes all cloths, clenser, wax etc. and they alter the formulae to suit the origin of the cars due to different manufacturing processes etc. The kits I have mentioned are specifically for Japanese cars http://www.sportscarworld.net/ is where I buy mine from. We occasionally have group buys over at Honda Revolutions and get a discount. If you REALLY want the best finish (and protection) ......
