My 16-inch wheels seem fine so far (Jan 2000). They're a pain to clean with the textured surface though - they should have made them smooth. (I clean them once a week now which makes it much easier.) They look much better than the 2002 16's but they're still not exactly the best looking alloys you can buy.
Poor Quality = No
Pain to Clean = Yes
Poor looks = Yes
On US sites there's stuff about the IS300 having an adaptive ECU that learns how you drive and optimises fuel efficiency/performance for your style of driving. The theory is that it just learns once so if you buy 2nd hand or change how you drive you can re-optimise by resetting the ECU. Easiest way to do this supposedly is to remove some fuses for 10 mins. Then it re-learns. If this isn't complete rubbish does anybody know if it applies to the UK IS200 (manual) too?

My neice wants a lexus. Her boyfriend has a car and she's been telling him that her uncle's got a lexus and it's got nicer alloys than his, and that she really likes the rear lights and the big exhaust... Poor guy...:D
...oh and sometimes the boot opens on mine while its parked out on the street - but thats down to my 2 yr old daughter getting hold of the keys! :D

I usually lock it while I drive to work in Slough. One day I think it unlocked when I stopped the engine. Not sure though - I might have just caught the button on the door without realising it. It's never happened again and I've not had it lock by itself.
once got my car (not a lexus) broken into twice in the same month. both times they didn't manage to get the stereo out - so they gained nothing and I got left with the damage
(also a neighbour hit the car and our flat got burgled in the same month. it was in Hull. We moved to Reading and our insurance went up - it being a high risk area and we've had no probs in 8 years..! insurance... )
Dunno about lexus but my vauxhall's lasted 6 years ok. It only needed replacing when I had a leak. (Gas with dye to find leak, plus fix, plus more gas = £500!)
I figured that as depreciation is low for lexus there should be no problem with the market value dropping below what I owed on the car so I didn't bother.
A black GS300 parked near my house in Reading at the weekend so I stuck a (feeble) card on it with the URL. Are you here yet? If so Hi! I like your wheels BTW.
He said something like boring in relation to the handling of his "ultimate driving machine" - he said the lexus handles better and is quicker, especially on the motorway with the six-speed box.
No surprise but...
A colleague crashed his company car - a BMW 318i - so he's got the pool car - an IS200 SE -until his is fixed. "Lovely car" he said. He prefers it to the beemer. When I asked him how long it'll take to get his car fixed he said "Who cares!"
kno wot you mean - it was a bit of a shock the first time - thought I'd broken something. Now I try to change up just short of the rev limit.
I did once change down to 3rd instead of 5th on the motorway...:o The car didn't seem to like that!
