  1. I found the same with my RX as like you I assumed it would handle DVDs but it doesn't. You can get some software which will burn a dvd with music and a menu but not as mp3s, just normal dvd audio so it won't fit as much on. Also you won't be able to see the menu screen while driving. I just gave up and used cdrs. I get about 60 albums across the six disks at least.
  2. These days I'm busy running a company and a church and taxiing children around do I don't get much time for the forum. Also now driving a standard Lexus where before I was busy moding a base IS200. I'm just enjoying driving my awesome RX when I can. I still look in every few days at least and occasionally do some moderating.
  3. I'm loving it and surprisingly not missing a manual gear box at all. It's more comfortable over all the speed bumps and potholes in Reading compared to my IS220d Sport. It's quieter, there's more space for passengers and luggage, the Mark Levinson stereo with the MM option is awesome, and the extra 100hp means even thought it's bigger it's faster in a straight line. The handling is obviously not up to an IS and I've not really had a chance to throw it around too much yet but it's good enough to live with so far given the sort of driving I'm doing. Things I don't like: the warning beep on the auto boot open/close, and I think I'd prefer reversing sensors instead of a camera as they give better detection at the corners. Fortunately someone had the optional front sensors fitted. These aren't as good as the factory fit ones on my IS as they give false beeps when raining etc but you can switch them off and they're better than not having any! All in all I don't miss my IS at all, except for the keyless entry which is bizarely missing on the RX. The RX is faster, bigger, more comfortable, more practical and has at least as good economy compared to the Sport version of the 220. At the moment I have a contract that I can walk to so the car is only being used for taxi service for my children, shopping etc so just short drives around town. I'm getting about 26-28mpg for those sort of journeys which is about the same as my IS220d. The hybrid seems to take a mile or so to warm up before I can get it running on electric only. Certain journeys on flat, clear roads I can do 3-4 miles almost entirely on electric so I think if I was driving it around town for longer journeys I'd see a better average. The little long distance driving I've done was mid-30s.
  4. I had the lexus one which I think is a rebadged parrot. It was usable for "ill be late" type calls but the other person had difficulty hearing me so not great for much more than that. Perhaps the latest parrot is better...
  5. Hi. Welcome! I'd just get parts from Lexus/Toyota if it was me but someone may know cheaper options. Sorry I don't know the answers to the rest of your questions, I've not had an RX long myself.
  6. The 08 ML stereo in my RX400 will take CD-RWs which are mastered (ie not like a file system) with MP3s up to 320 kbps.
  7. I get it going over 20mph speed bumps but only when I go slightly too fast so it's not a problem for me. I'll just be more careful with my speed.
  8. I've had a CT200h twice now as a courtesy car. I liked it but the width in the rear for 3 passengers and the size of the boot would make it less than practical for us. The boot does at least have a large under-floor storage compartment that some might miss which does help a bit. Also it was a bit slow and I only averaged about 55mpg. On the plus side I like the styling, it was comfortable and the handling was good. The ride was smoother than I expected on the 17" wheels. If Lexus ever get around to a hybrid IS then I might be interested.
  9. The courtesy car I've got today is showing an average of 55mpg if that helps. Obviously no telling how its been driven.
  10. Thanks. Yeah, it's rather diffent to the IS. I like the comfortable, smooth, quiet ride  I'm already finding myself seeing how I can drive so that the electric motors are used more. At first I was just giving it some welly to hear the V6 growl There are a couple of minor problems that I'm popping back to the dealers about on Saturday but they should be easy sorted.
  11. Yay, I found a button. I just need to find another friend. Sorry to distract. Anyone know what rx300-se needs?
  12. Hmmm interesting post. I've just bought an RX400h SE+MM with parking sensors on the front bumper which appear to do nothing. (I tried driving at a friend yesterday to try them out.) Time to look for a hidden button perhaps...
  13. Thank you. I must admit I'm missing a few of the things that made it into the design of the IS but surprisingly not the RX400 like keyless entry and auxiliary input for the stereo. The quiet, comfort, smooth ride and acceleration of the RX400h are all very cool though.
  14. Oooo hello. It's nice over here. Yesterday, I got myself a nice low mileage RX400h after 10 years of owning IS's.
  15. It's a sad day: today my IS220d Sport is leaving me after five very happy years together. It's been an awesome car. It's been a lot of fun to drive with the torque, sport gear ratios and suspension etc. Apart from the usual warranty stuff its been incredibly reliable. Taking it careful on long distances I've got 40 - 45mpg which isn't bad for a car heavy with lots of toys. And that mesa red...
  16. Thanks both. After the replies I thought about selling it privately but then decided I couldn't be bothered with the hassle and time it would take so took the hit on the trade-in price. I tried another Lexus dealer and got offered the same and found a good condition/low mileage rx400h. Sad to see the IS220d go as its such an awesome car but now it's a done deal.
  17. Hmm thanks. I was expecting more like 10k based on examples on the Lexus website. They must be making a big profit on them.
  18. I'm thinking of changing my car and upgrading to a second hand RX400h for around £30k. My local dealer is offering £6,500 for my 06 IS220d Sport. Does that sound fair? It has no multimedia and 68k miles.
  19. As its a mod that would mean the reg doc would need changing I guess the insurance hit would probably be a bit steep. The ISF was on my short-list of three Lexus models as the one that was least practical/green etc but most desirable. The lack of a 5th seat is the final nail in the coffin when it comes to practicality unfortunately. If I was single with no kids it would have been different but there again I'd be driving a porsche. I'll probably be getting an RX400h or CT200h instead now. Not quite as fun but they tick other boxes.
  20. Noooooooo. Thanks everyone. I guess an ISF is off my list then :( I've wanted one for ages and now that it's time to change my car I found a really nice used example for a price I could afford.
  21. I was going to book a test drive of a 2008 ISF today but just saw something suggesting that it only has two seats (and presumably two seat-belts?) at the rear? Is that right? That would be mad.
  22. Yes, definitely. Awesome torque and unless you get one of the rare duds very reliable too.
