  1. W is rated to 169 mph (or thereabouts) so not a problem.
  2. Something like that, yes. How much? Maybe £10 a corner, depends on your fitter. Is it worth it? Your choice but I'd say not. I swap mine front to back to keep the wear even but can't be bothered with the hassle of side to side. If the shoulders are being scrubbed off then maybe spend the money on a 4 wheel alignment instead.
  3. Swap the diagnols..... Front left and rear right - Front right and rear left... Don't forget that the tyres are directional - don't swap from side-to-side unless you're gonna get the tyres changed round on the rims.
  4. 2p worth: A DVD is pretty much wasted on 8 minutes worth of VHS quality (ie already crap-ish) video - AVI it and use (at most) about 300Mb. Sorry - just thought people were getting a bit carried away ;)
  5. The original SC was generally regarded as a "blancmange on wheels" for the American market wasn't it?
  6. The IS is many things but fast isn't one of them ;)
  7. Mine didn't work when I collected the car (great PDI !) - the switch was sticking. Dealer sprayed it with silicone grease and it's been fine ever since.
  8. If they were corroded then they were definitely Lexus alloys ;)
  9. Well I bought one off Mark at Christmas, but I've no idea who had it before. Is mine the one? Do I win a prize?
  10. Well, I've experienced it myself on a previous car, but it's been mentioned a few times by "Honest John" the motoring journalist for the Telegraph. It is (apparently) one of the most frequent reasons for breakdown callout - most people assume it's knackered, give up and call the AA. Still don't know how it works though - like you say there seems to be no compression and I don't understand how that's possible without some sort of relief-valve or similar.
  11. Yeah, that's how it seems (no compression) - I assume there is some kind of valve arrangement to vent the cylinders. Starter must have engaged 'cos there was drive to the wheels.
  12. Had you previously run the car only briefly? Sometimes if you start up and then stop soon after (like if you just move the car out of a garage etc) the the coldstart cycle doesn't complete and you get fuel left in the cylinders. When you next try to start, you get the effect you describe to clear the excess fuel before it will fire up - well, something like that anyway.
  13. The (!) is also for low brake fluid warning, but it won't come on for a blown bulb.
  14. I was gonna post that link but you beat me to it. I got my exchange motor/cam & dizzy from them a few years back - they seem quite good to deal with.
  15. Webber 500 is supposed to be a better bet than the Holley, more power AND better economy - I wish someone had told me that before I bought a Holley :o
  16. r you fitting it your self mate B) Yes, that's the plan - will be a few weeks though due to other commitments and I want to have the motor serviced first.
  17. I got an IS200 and a Supercharger - they're just not joined together yet
  18. Depends how close you are - any high power emission (rf, microwave, whatever) can "drown out" the puny little signal from the fob. Mobile phone masts are the worst culprits because there's a lot of them and in residential areas. A friend I visit sometimes lives near "something" that nearly always stops the remote working.
  19. Unless the remote fails because you happen to be near a mobile phone mast - a spare won't help then. Just pointing out the pitfalls.
  20. Be aware that if you make the lock inaccessible and your remote fails (with the car dead-locked) then you won't be able to get in. Some kind of removable cover would be good, but I don't know if there is such a thing.
  21. On pre-October 2001 models the door mirrors are heated all the time, and the front screen comes on with the rear. On later models I think they all come on together? (not sure about that, mine's pre-facelift)
  22. AFAIK all SEs and Sports have it. It comes on with the rear window heater.
  23. It'll probably dry quite different to how it looks in the tin - try it in an unobtrusive spot first.
  24. I though the only stuff still marked as 4 star is LRP, and you definitely don't want to put that in.
