  1. 40k service was £350 'bout a month ago - came to £600 with additional work.
  2. Mine does it all the time and it's the plastic trim pieces on the roof panel frame - you get the same creaking noise if you just push it with your finger. I first mentioned this to the dealer at the 10k service (now done 42k) but it's still there. They said they couldn't find a problem - useless gits. Still, at least it fits with the creaking passenger seat (driver's seat has stopped now), creaking driver's door trim and creaking roof lining (fixed that myself cos it was the most irritating). JD Power?, great dealers?, build quality? - I'm not convinced; hope you're reading this, Lexus GB.
  3. Yes, somebody has! Thank you, kind Administrator :D
  4. A bit of an update; Having waited 2 weeks to see what response my letter to the dealer got (none at all) I called in yesterday to: i) see what they had to say about the situation and ii) book the car in again because the brakes still aren't OK - I have a slight vibration under braking, and a new problem in that they squeak when NOT braking. To the dealer's credit, they knew who I was and why I was there and apologised for not replying to my letter before I had chance to say anything. The bad news is that they have spoken to Lexus GB who are adamant that the problem with the pad will NOT be covered under warranty. So, I now need to write to Lexus GB direct and persue it some more. Does anybody know the best person/department etc that I should address it to?
  5. They came in at October 2001 with the other bits & pieces like chrome speaker surrounds, different dash finish etc.
  6. Yes and yes, that's what it means. IIRC, it says in the handbook something like; You can run the car with the tyres on the 'wrong' side, but handling may be compromised and you should rectify the situation ASAP.
  7. leedsunited: YHM Sorry Matt - didn't think about it.
  8. Howla Give Lexus leeds a call and ask for Bob Mayes, tell him you are a member of LOC and he should look after you. I do know that they are not charging that kind of lolly for a 20k service. Leeds is not exactly handy from Newcastle £349 is about £100 more than I paid for my 20k at Leeds though - seems a bit steep.
  9. I have written a letter to the dealer, in which I have made my feelings clear and hinted that if they would like me to remain a customer and buy another car from them, then I'd like some satisfaction from them. If that doesn't work then I'll be writing to Lexus UK.
  10. The thing the dealer used as a get-out here, is that it was the pad, and NOT the caliper that had seized. They were quite open about the fact that if the caliper had seized they would have done the lot under warranty, BUT as it was the pad at fault (and that is a consumable item) it is a wear and tear issue - personally I thought that this was splitting hairs somewhat, I really don't expect this kind of problem on fully serviced car in daily use - something I have pointed out in the letter that I'm about to post. Still at least I have shiny black disc hubs now - they were going rusty too. I just need to sort my spotty calipers out and everything will be fine (apart from the stone chips of course) - what is it with Lexus and corrosion
  11. Yesterday I had my 40k service. I was quoted £345, which seemed a little steep but acceptable. I also mentioned that there was some corrosion on the rear offside disc. The dealer phoned later in the day to tell me that a brake pad had stuck causing the brake not to function properly and would require new discs and pads at a cost of an additional £300 (this was later reduced by about £45). I don’t really accept that brake pads seizing is “wear and tear” which is how they described it. The car is never parked-up for very long, which is why it’s done 40k in a little over 18 months, so it can hardly be blamed on lack of use and it has been dealer serviced every 10k. Am I being unreasonable in expecting this to be carried out under warranty?
  12. Cheers mate - and I try so hard to be popular Anyway managed to beat those figures this week; 473 miles/66 litres - helped by a steady cruise to one of our other offices (270 mile round trip).
  13. 467 miles and 67 litres to fill is my all-time "sweating to find a petrol-station" record
  14. I have no spoiler and it never opens more than about half an inch (unless the wind catches it ). I've had it 18 months from new and it's always been that way.
  15. Sounds like the lift mechanism on the front of the squab is jammed or broken. LOL @ the Lynx Pulse "mod".
  16. Well that's great for you - it doesn't alter the fact that it varies from dealer to dealer which is why I said you MAY not get a discount. Fact is, my dealer knows my options are limited; the next nearest dealer doesn't offer a discount either, and I'm not gonna drive 50 miles or more further to save 10 quid on a service. The point I was making is that people shouldn't be saying stuff like "Join Gold and you WILL save at least 10% at the dealer" because you might not - that's all.
  17. It's late on a Friday afternoon so it took me a while to figure TADTS, but yeah I think the handbook says it's normal as long as it clears up and you don't have little pools of water sloshing about in the lamp.
  18. That's slightly misleading - you may not necessarily get ANY discount depending on the dealer. My saving at my 30k service was £4.50 for example (10% on labour only). I'm not saying that joining is not a worthwhile thing as the benefits are wide and varied, but people shouldn't be given (potentially) false expectations.
  19. Was that at the wheels? - the 203/210/220 (or whatever) bhp is at the flywheel, so it would probably be a fair figure for power at the wheels. Did you get a before 'n' after comparison?
  20. It lights up at the same time as the interior light (ie goes out after 12 seconds or whatever the delay is).
  21. I've had that problem twice - both times I was parked in the same place. I guess something (mobile phone mast or whatever) was blocking the signal.
