  1. My Dad had exactly the same situation. Closed his door, the draught blew the ticket upside down (numbers facing dash so advertising blurb facing up). He had a ticket (quite rightly) and so sent off letter saying he did have ticket, but it obviously blew in wind. Also, this ticket did not have capability to stick to window (basically just bit of paper) so he put in his letter that this was the cause. They cancelled the ticket immediately no probs. Realise it doesn't help you in your situation, but thought I'd mention it - perhaps a bit more arguing will get it sorted!
  2. nah.....just means more people are getting good taste!!
  3. (sorry.....I couldn't resist doing that.....I find it SO annoying!!!)
  4. That is brilliant......and so true!!! www.bulbcollector.com www.thelightbulb.co.uk www.howstuffworks.com/light-bulb.htm www.bookcase.com/library/humor/lists/light_bulb.html
  5. It was a comical show. Highlighted, for me, just what prats our DSA are. Some of you may be aware, I'm quite into advanced driving.....and some of the questions I just whole heartedly DISAGREED with the answers!!! Example: You would NOT overtake a horse on a bend with a warning sign, and solid white line. I don't care how fast the horse was going. Also, when only 40something % of people passed, that really worries me even more!! However, let's not detract from the goddess that is Gaby Yorith. hmmmmmmmm
  6. Not to worry - thanks very much anyhow. I'll have a hunt round the internet to see if I can find it !!!
  7. ahhhhh!!! the 470 V8 bit confused me more than anything else!! Thanks matey
  8. ok.....i'm confused.... what's one of these? A mate of mine is in kensington at the moment, and sent me this pic of an LX 470 V8, number plate V1 VUM (looks like VIVUM). Never heard of them.....any ideas ??? (please excuse the quality of the image....it was taken with a nokia!!!)
  9. Please put me down as a preliminary (dates depending of course) Thanks!!!
  10. Does the MS Ent Pack Puzzle edition have the barrel pushing game on it? My Dad and I used to play that ALL the time, and we lost it and can't find it!!!???
  11. Yup - it was high because I bought the car when I was 19. Paid 4/5k the first yr, 2.5k the second, and 2.5k the third yr i owned it. I loved the car, but you can only really have it for so long. 3 yrs I owned it, had a great time, track days, shows, did everything, and the time came to move on. Also, it slightly depicted the wrong image.....too "boy racery", although that is of course just my opinion. In the end, the costs became too much to justify for a car that I did 4-5 thousand miles a yr in (in 3yrs I did 12k miles). Bought the Lexus because I wanted all the things the Escort didn't have.....economy, luxury, reliability etc. etc. I miss the speed etc (as I think I said above) but don't miss the problems or worries. Very pleased that I've owned both cars (they are completely different afterall), and have no regrets about owning either.
  12. Not read the whole of this thread as I'v just come onto it, but thought I'd mention that I sold an MA Developments tuned Stage 3 (almost 4 :)) L '93 Polaris Grey Escort Cosworth Lux with 360bhp to buy the Lexus (IS200). If it's pointless Ford facts you want (RS/cosworth specific) then I'm your man :) Like I say, I haven't read the whole thread so don't know where the conversation really stands at the moment, but just to say that I loved the Escort Cosworth, but I don't miss it breaking, the costs, and the insurance (I paid £4500 to insure it for ONE year!) Brings back memories though..... this was my car....
  13. Can I appear foolish here.........what's a bootliner?
  14. I was in a similar position to you guys. I sold my 360bhp Escort Cosworth and bought my Is200 (std, english car). I've had the Lexus almost a year now, and I make no bones about it that I miss the speed and the enjoyment of going out for a blast.....so much so, I'm doing my bike license soon. You have to weigh up your options. An IS200 is an amazing everyday car - really is perfect. However, I have found that when you want to go for a blast on the B-roads, or just want some speed-satisfaction, it does leave you wanting. So - consider getting another car (whether it's a £200 1.9 205 GTi or a bike or whatever) that will be your speed demon, and the IS200 for everything else that it does so perfectly. By the way......I stress.....I have not once regretted selling the Cosworth and getting the IS200. I just wish I had another car to satisfy the speed-merchant in me !!!
  15. I'll be meeting at Oxford services.....and also anyone who wanted to meet up on M25 somewhere too!!
