  1. They look like all other cars - boring. Next time you pass a Peugeot/renault/vauxhall ete just look at rows and rows of identical coloured cans. Unfortunately these 2 new Lexus models could fit in.
  2. Yeah, we tried all that stuff. I speculated that the box or selector had moved, because the position of the lever did not correspond to the light on the dashboard. However, as above, whilst attempting to move the selector to a position which would allow me to start & move the car, I managed to get it to engage park & thus turn the ignition off & remove the key. Steve - I will try to get some pics this weekend, it's a bit crazy 'round here at the moment what with one thing & another, so no promises... So far, the parts bill looks to be about £200, assuming it's all panels & lights. We have a portapower to straighten any substantial parts, hopefully, there's no suspension damage. No worries if you cant document the job. I thought it could be useful in the future for other similarly unfortunates. I wondered why the gearbox had appeared to move. If you can let us know then it will be a mega effort. Hope it goes well and the baby is back cruising soon.
  3. If I remember correctly that unit is the receiver/dryer and I think there is a cartridge (like a filter) that is inside and will most likely need replacement. Did the mobile guy highlight the leak?
  4. I had a similar experience some years ago when, a couple of months after a Rover Main Dealer service my 827 blew a spark plug out. I got soaked in the rain thinking it was an oil problem and having to walk to fetch oil which I then overfilled! Breakdown came and the following day rang and told me the problem. It may be worth having a look. Boy was it a big bang when it happened.
  5. Hi. Would be interesting to see photos of the poorly car and the repair costs/process. If poss.
  6. Hi it may be a silly answer but you are trying to wash them with the lights switched on. I thought mine had packed in but switched on the lights & they work. ta Mark Its not a silly answer. I didnt know that. Just been out and switched the lights on with the engine running just to be on the safe side. NOTHING. I did notice though that the park and other lights on the dash dim for a second when i push the H/L wash button. But no water. Not even a dribble and nothing under the car on teh floor. Hi. It sounds like the electrics are working but in view of the length of time since they squirted, I would think the nozzles are blogged. Clear these out first using a decent needle (a pin is too small). If that doesnt work then trace the tube back to any joints and check they arent blogged. If you find a blocked tube but cant get to the blockage, try Milton sterilising fluid (others are available!) and leave in the blocked pipe preferably overnight. DoNOT use drain cleaner in case any gets on the paint work. And at risk of stating the b......g obvious, you do have water in the system dont you? Dont let the motor run without water but do give it a good chance to get through; it will have back-syphoned and/or evaporated due to lack of use. Let us know how it goes please.
  7. Hi Sorry to hear about the trouble. I can only suggest disconnecting the battery, assuming you can open the bonnet.
  8. Hi Ajmany. Welcome to the LOC Forum. I did a quick search on here using "frequency" as the keyword. It returned 2 pages of which this was the most relevant (I remembered it being posted) http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=65710&st=0&p=712387&hl=frequency&fromsearch=1entry712387 It would seem that a spreader is the solution. Please let us know how you get on.
  9. Cant make any real intelligent comment, but have noticed the v limited access to the window mechanicals taking it all out via the window hole would be a pain Exactly. And thank you for commenting. Having removed the speaker assembly, the only benefit I think is that this would give better access for removal of the entire mechanism. I think that this aperture would also permit access to the third glass fixing for the MK's I & II; there being only 2 on the MKIII, and probably the mechanism itself albeit with smoke and mirrors. Incidently and for reference purposes the speaker assembly on my MKIII is not gobboed up with sealant like one of the threads I have found above. Infact the whole thing is encased in its own plastic cover which srews directly to the door. Oh and btw, tomorrow I have to do the the same job on the boss's Cooper S. 04 plate but Googling suggests the windows are a regular issue. At least there is some info.
  10. By way of updating, there is an improvement. It was quite warm here yesterday afternoon so I'm guessing that the WD40 had had time to penetrate and the warmth eased the grease. Whilst it isnt as quiet as the day it was built, it has proved a beneficial exercise.
  11. Hi yet again. You originally said "so far i've got "8L1 - star sapphire Pearl" but from the chart its dark grey blush metallic. I'm therefore a bit confused (nothing new).
  12. Well done, its in my favourites now. Does your grey/lower colour appear in the code on the car? Where in the code?
  13. I have done what you probably did and came up with the following http://www.automotivetouchup.com/paintcodes/toyota_paint_code.htm http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/187358-ls400-paint-code-information.html http://www.paintscratch.com/ http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t44183.html You might find something useful in there. Interestingly, the last one seems to suggest there isnt a code for the lower colour. However, when I 1st got my car, my man who does mobile paint jobs, found it immediately. It might be worth emailing the pics and the C/TR code to your chosen supplier. Please let us know how you get on.
  14. Hi The colour/s and trim are on the plate riveted under the bonnet, in my case on the offside wheel arch. The bottom row starts C/TR for colour and trim. Your photo looks like blue over grey. Mine is Toyota Lucerne Silver over grey. I cannot remember the lower grey colour, but, if it is the same as mine then you may be able to interpolate from my code which is (in full) 199LE13A02AA342E. Note the latter part of this code will relate to the interior. Hope that is of some help.
  15. Yes they do light up, just. Any way to make em a little brighter?
  16. Evening I cannot remember if the window switches (MKIII) have lights. If they do, are they on a seperate fuse? If so where? What bulb spec? Could be a strange question and yes I have switched the lights and ignition on.
  17. Did I ask the wrong question chaps? This http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52920&pid=340716&start=&st=#entry340716 is the only remotely relevant information I have found. WithOUT removing the mechanism I have manged to apply a good dose of WD40 to anything I can see (rather felt like a ladies doctor) through the top of the door (I used a 3/8ths tube to direct the WD40). I followed up with an application of grease on the end of a screwdriver. And...... No difference; still creaking, squeaking and grinding. So maybe the question should be, if I remove the mechanism per the thread above (MKIII slightly different), is there any serviceable part/s? If there are, what will be required? I am very reluctant to demolish the mechanism given that it all works fine, albeit rather noisily, without having this info.
  18. Hi I finally decided to sort out the creaking that the drivers window makes. Having removed the door card I'm very pleased to see how clean and rust-free is the inside of the door. What I do not believe is how small the aperture is. I can only see a small part of the (somewhat in need of lubrication)lift mechanism. Does anyone know how to gain access to the majority of it?
  19. I have a double din pioneer that I didnt buy too long ago (and fitted to my Camry), it has intergrated bluetooth that I use alot for my mobile calls, it also has USB capability for my Ipod, which will be used all the time Understand. I was worried you weren't happy with the Premium Sound System!
  20. The socket in my dash happily charges mobile satnav but refuses to work the cigar lighter. The same lighter works fine in the rear door sockets. Therefore it might be the socket that has a fault relative to the lighter.
  21. Cracking question, but beyond me. Returning to your original post. I don't know of any car that won't permit entry via the drivers door with the master key but will no doubt be proved wrong (am assuming you refer to the remote batteries). There are various posts on here regarding remotes and flat batteries and alarms. Please plough your way through them.
  22. Welcome and congrats on making the choice. Couple of points. 1) Have you utilised the search facility, it really is a massive resource. 2)Is it a late MKIII or early MKIV? 3)What sort of remote do you have?
  23. HT Lead cover, but then they often are so unlikely to be disappointed. I would think that the lack of mileage/warranty could be the answer; its pouring down otherwise I would go and have a look.
