  1. Hi I went through the re-gas/newstrut scenario at the begining of the year and decided that new bonnet struts were the only answer £46 delivered from car_chrome. You can find them on ebay or email them mail@carchrome.co.uk
  2. Hi and welcome. Sir John has covered the direct issues you raised but the search facility on here is a massive resource and many of the answers given in the threads contain links for all kinds of stuff for the LS400. With regard to the heated seats, failure is a common issue as your search will show; but for all makes. Assuming the fuses are ok then it will be the elements that are broken (they are like those in an electric blanket). Replaceable if you really want but time consuming. Overall, the cars are fairly bomb-proof with a relatively small list of known issues and at 130k you are just run-in nicely. With regard to the radio, does it not function at all?
  3. Hey guys I have similar prob. How do u disconnect boot alarm? Wher is it? Before you try and disconnect the boot alarm, you should try and fix the leaks, assuming your problem is indeed similar. Disconnecting alarms can have insurance consequenses. In order to avoid alarm going off you should only lock-up with the key. This means the immobiiser wont be operating so be careful. The boot alarm is located next to the catch (on my MKIII). If you look down at the catch with the boot open, there is the release knob on 1 side and on the other is the alarm.
  4. Hi and welcome to LOC. This section is for newbies to introduce themselves and is not viewed regularly by the members who can help you. Before you click on this forum, you have a choice of forum by model and further down, forums of a general nature. Firstly use the search facility in the IS200 forum and also have a look in the Audio forum and do a search there. Chances are you will find the answer you need or find a member who appears particularly knowledgable whom you could PM (private message). Failing that, re-post your question in the relevant forum. Its probably not going to cost a fortune to fix.
  5. Now thats what I like. A new member posting a solution rather than a problem. Well done and welcome
  6. Hi I'm afraid that it is the starter in your case and in the case of Swift. This is exactly how it starts (or rather doesn't as the case may be). The frequency of just clicking and not engaging gets worse over time and will gradually lead to the starter dying. I know. Mine did. The reason it doesn't do it every time to start with is that the starter does not come to rest in the same position each time. Since I replaced mine its been absolutely fine. Sorry chaps. The LS is by far the worse; the :tsktsk: thing is in the engine "V" and it requires the removal of the throttle body amongst other stuff. Here is a link http://www.lextreme.com/starter.html
  7. I do not know if you explored the site but if you didn't here is the link for removal of the front door handle http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/body/fdoorhandle.html The rear door differs only in that there is no key facility.
  8. The tutorial is here http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/body/fdoorpanel.html but refers only to the front door panel. I have used this, as its very good. I made a note that it would be a useful guide to remove the rear card.
  9. Thanks Steve. I thought it wouldn't take a lot hence the reason for being put off by the thought of having the best part of 5 litres deteriorating on my shelf. A friend has contacts at Toyota and will get me some when he's next there. The check I performed was when the car was hot so I'm reasonable confident that the reading was accurate based on your advice, but I do intend checking it regularly now.
  10. Hi Chaps As I suspected the ATF is in need of topping up. The current reading is approx 2/3 down the fill marking on the dipstick ie it shows about a third up the notches. I would like to know roughly how much Toyota Type Iv ATF I will need to bring it to level in my MKIII, please. Worth noting that having tried searching to buy the stuff, I ended up speaking to parts dept at Toyota Grantham who don't have any but can get me 5 litres for £51. I was thinking of a no more than a litre, with some to spare to top up in the future.
  11. Hi Keith If you do a search - use various different relevant terms - you should see some info on door locks and their failure. In any case you should strip the door card and clean the connections and check the wiring as best you can. Further, have a good clean at the linkages and also the latches and check the door closes correctly.
  12. Another thought regarding the remote is that it may now be out of sync with the car. To resolve this you need to be outside the vehicle with the doors shut. Aiming the remote fron the usual distance toward the usual point you have got used to aiming at, press and hold the black button for at least 10 seconds. Release and use normally. You may have to do this once youve resolved the original problem. In relation to the original problem, here is a slighty differnt version of the procedure to reset the main unit http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=59617&st=0&p=706967&hl=scorpion&fromsearch=1entry706967 Failing which is another similar procedure yhat you may like to try - http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=59617&st=0&p=670605&hl=scorpion&fromsearch=1entry670605 With any luck you should get sorted.
  13. All the siren unit does is to make the noise; it wont help with the other problems and the battery packs are £16 so you will be better to solve the problem before changing the batteries. In addition, the printed circuit is very fragile. I had to replace the entire siren unit as a result. I am surprised that the procedure has failed. I did suggest repeating and trust you have done so. Also, is the remote battery ok? The system can only arm and disarm with a charged car battery and a good remote battery. The siren batteries are irrelevant to that process. The Scorpion T5 was mainly UK dealer fitted and should be located behind the main glove box - which has to be removed to gain access. I have looked at mine in the past and from memory there didnt appear to be any plugs or obvious colour coding but its probably 4 or more years since I looked. To remove it would be best undertaken with the battery disconnected. Replacement systems can be quite expensive so it might be worth while to investigate the problem a little further first. Oh, and dont forget, with the system removed it can be easily hotwired and may affect your insurance to the point where it is declared void.
  14. Hi The solution is in deed on hand. Please follow these steps EXACTLY With the bonnet up and a spanner for the earth to hand Put the key in the ignition and turn it to Acc (accesories) Disconnect the earth from the battery Turn key fron Acc to On Reconnect the earth to the battery Turn key to off and remove Close door and bonnet Press black button to lock Wait for the system to arm Press black button Check security light is out Done. Rinse and repeat if necessary. Please let us know how you got on. I hope you will continue to use the forum. For the future please try the search facility first, the above solution has been posted before; at least a couple of times by me. Another tip is to write down the instructions and hide them in the car. That way you have them if the problem re-occurs. My first time was after the garage had had my car! Press
  15. Hi and welcome. I think you must be referring to Simon Taylor's post. He is more likely to let you have details if you pm him (click on the profile icon above his name in the post). In the meantime, please describe "haywire" as the solution may not require Simon's info.
  16. Hi John and welcome to the forum. As a starting point, I would have a look on Ebay (I dont know if there is a Spanish site). Secondly I would use the search facility on the forum. You might come across a post that contains info as to where to get a cd. Third, it will probably get more views if you re-post in the general section of the forum (it being a common thing for new members not familiar with the layout to post in the 1st slot, in this case Engine & Transmission). Also, when you first log-in, you have a choice of sub-forums; have a look at some of the threads in those that appear near the bottom eg members lounge, maintenance etc. I assume you have already Googled and found this Forum as part of the search. If not, theres another option.
  17. Good to see new members and getting straight in to sharing knowledge. Welcome.
  18. I would also ask "does it go up immediately the ignition is turned-on?"
  19. Hi again Having had the opposite problem, I would now suggest fitting a new sender unit. Make sure you get one with the right connection.
  20. Hi WenJ and welcome. Whilst you wait for a fellow 430 owner to respond, use the search facility. You will probably have to try various search terms but the answer may well be there.
  21. Hi Did you follow the correct fill procedure? You will find it included in this link http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/cooling/coolant.html This is the only way to correctly fill the system to capacity. Try it and report back.
  22. Welcome Mitch. Please use the search facility. Not all members have the time to post regularly and I guess you could do with a quick response.
  23. Hi Steve Sure you want to buy from AZ? - http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=68127&st=0
  24. The swan neck I have is permanently on by preference, but without it the only visible sign is the electrics and they are just below the bumper. The only visible sign under the bonnet is the cooler located behind the grill, on the cross member adjacent to the a/c receiver/dryer.
