  1. Yes Deja vu indeed - looks like the chap was messed around or this that just a tactic used to tease the bids up. I wonder if he will get what he is after for it, though not sure about the rarity value as i've seen a few DHP spec cars offered for sale recently. I was really suprised to see one the same as mine as I really did not think I would ever see another Mk4 LS with black leather.
  2. Hey thats spooky, just rang my local Lexus dealer today to order a replacement for my Mk4, cost is £134 inc VAT. I have been looking at alternatives including flexy black rubber splitters that you see on Jap cars but cant get anything to properly adhere so have bitten the bullet.
  3. Looks like it is going to sell for £1,750 on Ebay which is one hell of a car for the money. That's if the seller actually parts with it as it was supposed to be for sale elsewhere at £2,850.
  4. Wasn't me Steve! Funny thing is that before I bought my LS last summer I had not seen a MK 4 LS in dark green anywhere, now I see them regularly and at least three other members on here have the dark green colour.
  5. Lowered suspension which means, when 4 in car, you scrape every sleeping policeman and road hump. Stiffer suspension which means every pothole you hit you think you've broken both front wishbones. The one I had looked a stunning car, but on our roads, wasn't a pleasure to drive. The 17'' wheels can only take a top brand wider tyre which are about £200 each. Graham I have an identical car, though mine is metallic Jade Mica (metallic dark green to me) its the only LS I have driven and I find it quite comfortable to drive and far superior to my old MK1 GS300 Sport which had a more stiffer suspension set up. You are spot on as far as the DHP year of introduction is concerned. I remember reading somewhere on tinterweb that it was developed outside Japan to make the car more desirable for the European/American market. As for tyres, when I bought the car last year it was running on a set of Goodyear tyres (slightly smaller in width and of a larger profile to the recommended tyres for the DHP wheels) and when I test drove it it just wafted along like every road serface was silky velvet and I just had to buy it. However, the wheels (the original DHP spec ones) were very scabby so I decided to refurbish them but along the way I came accross a set of newly refurbished DHP spec wheels with next to new tyres for the cost of refurbing all 5 wheels so I went that route. The tyres are Bridgstone runflats of 245 width and 45 profile and yes the ride is stiffer than on the tyres that came with the car so I can vouch for your comments about ride comfort and trye noise with the DHP spec wheel/tyre setup but overall in my opinion it is still far better than my old GS. You are also right about front suspension wear, more so the bushes depending on how you drive, but I have found a cure for that hopefully and will be getting the bushing upgraded soon.
  6. Ebay item 300843749239, identical to mine with rarely seen black leather interior, most likely a bargain if it sells for around £2k though sems to be for sale elsewhere for silly money.
  7. Petrol stations is a bad one for me, well at least my local Esso garage is.
  8. Hey liking the man-shed there! I have something similar but its actually attached to the house (its a conservatory but I have comandered it)
  9. Fair comment Mike - I have been around the Lexus Owners Club forums for a while now and agree there is a wealth of knowledge willingly shared and I do always try and acknowlege the replies I get to answers to queries I have asked.
  10. I have a DHP spec 400 and my wheels are 17", though they are the DHP spec wheels but very similar to the 430 wheels I have seen. As Chris mentioned if you search the wheels and tyres sub list you will find plenty of info on wheel and tyre size combinations.
  11. Since getting my satnav working properly in my Mk 4 I have been pretty impressed with its output and ease of use in the short time I have been using it, albeit only in the UK. The only niggle I have is that it does not accept postcodes. But then I have a Garmin that i would use for travelling further afield. I just like the idea of having no cables trailing over the dashboard.
  12. Has anyone fitted these to their LS? I have a set to fit but they need the power taken from the ignition side of the electrics so they come on as soon as you turn on the ignition to operate independantly of the main side and headlights. Any advice as to where it would be easiest to take power from would be appreciated.
  13. Thanks for the info Mike. I am no LPG expert and find the different prices quoted a bit misleading and personally I would generally go for the best I can afford which at Profess prices would be their most expensive system. Bearing in mind what has been said about installation quality, I now understand that paying a higher price does not necessarily guarantee a better quality system. Can I ask those that have had the conversion done, If you were considering a conversion now based on what you have learnt from the conversion process and a period of running on gas what system would you go for? Thanks chaps.
  14. Sorry to hijack this post but what's the going rate inclusive of VAT for an LPG conversion, I am very close to getting mine converted.
  15. Hope I am not counting my chickens too soon here! Those that I bored with my earlier posts will be pleased to hear that my SatNav problems are no more. The problem was the cd drive unit in the boot which had suffered from damp due to a dodgy boot seal and not a faulty antenna as was initially thought by process of ilimination. Replaced the cd drive with a salvaged unit, complete with latest satnav cd (version 3, 2008 I believe) which was inside the unit. Plenty learnt along the way regarding wiring route for GPS antenna and actual location of antenna (which is behind the centre console screen and not on the underside of the rear shelf above the boot). I now have an almost problem free car for the time being, just needing front suspension bushes to cure a slight nearside knock, which I will get sorted in the new year. My final job will be getting it LPG's and at present it seems that Profess and Leeds LPG are best value even when you factor in fuel costs to get there. I have not been able to get a better quote than £1900+VAT from any installers in the south of England.
  16. Be careful as they can get 'stuck' to the panel over time. Mine were a real pig to remove when I swopped my standard yellow ones for some flashy crystal clear ones.
  17. i faced the same dilemma but I had a Mk1 GS sport at the time needing best part of £2k to bring it up to scratch and get it through an MOT and though i loved my GS to bits and thought I would never sell it, it was a bit of a no brainer when an LS came along with all the 'naughty' bits fixed.
  18. your tyres are noisy because they are most likely run flats hence the harder compound. I have same make on my 400 and yes they are very noisy.
  19. Quite true, mine passed today with no advisories - not really a suprise as it has only failed once on tyres and has had one advisory for a cracked windscreen in its 12 year life.
  20. What puzzled me when I took mine out for a blast recently was that at around 80mph its only doing around 2500 rpm but when you engage the overdrive on 4th the revs increase to nearly just over 2500rpm which seems odd. Mine is not super quiet as its running on run flat tyres at present which are a tad noisy, but I too can hear the CD changer switch between discs, I have mine set on random play. Compared with my old Mk1 GS i do miss the 12 disc changer though.
  21. Go on Steve you know you want one! Mike - I was unsure of the colour at first and really only bought it because of the service history, but since its been properly cleaned I think I am beginning to get rather fond of it. Interior is black, I saw a few in the grey and beige but fancied a change as my GS had the grey leather and my old Rover 827 prior to that was beige. Just wish I could get the SatNav to work consistently.
  22. Had my LS now for nearly three months, thought I would shared some pictures before the weather changes fo rthe worst.
  23. I have new bonnet struts on my recently aquired car and they were replaced at the last Lexus service by the previous owner. I am too embarassed to say how much they cost fitted!
