  1. I think the button is to turn off the interior motion sensing system - e.g. for when leaving pets in the car...
  2. Agree wiht ihpj... The Lexus option is certainly not the cheapest option but i've falled foul of non-manufacturer warranty stuff before - you end up being the middle man with the garage saying one thing and the warranty company saying another. Not good. SO...for my RX I negotiated an extra 2 years when I bought it. You could alternatively put aside the same amount as the warranty each year in a bank account - essentially a "rainy day fund". Then when you come to change your car and (if) nothing has gone wrong use it towards the new motor.
  3. Just saw this on Gizmodo (via Jalopnik) Looks pretty cool...but i've always like "touch screen" controls to dials, etc. Thoughts?? (apologies if the link has been posted before!)
  4. DON'T use WonderWheels! It's like brick acid I use Meguiar's Wheel Brightener and it works brilliantly! I got mine from Elite Car Care - check out the product link here. You dliute it down and spray on. Agitate with a soft brush and then wash off. It's safe for all sorts of wheels - including polished ones and multi-piece ones. They even sell the Bilberry stuff if you want to stick with that! Let me know how you get on. Ta.
  5. Well, I was all set ready to order so I rang Lexus Derby and Nottingham just to compare prices. When I asked about the kit they said my car didn't support the iPod kit as it needed the newer (i.e. >2005 facelift) stereo! I explained my finidings on the forum, etc. but they wouldn't have any of it. They said it is not recommended and implied that it will be totally my responsibility if ANYTHING went wrong with the electrics, existing stereo, etc. SO...i'm a little confused and worried now. Any thoughts?? Perhaps the dealers don't quite know their stuff?? Cheers.
  6. Thanks for the info Dave. Does it also charge the iPhone while playing though and can you still use the CD changer if you want? Apologies for more questions but i've never used an older iPod dock... I don't mind having to control the song selection from the phone - i was planning to get a cradle fitted that is in easy reach of the driver rather than leaving the thing in the glovebox. Hopefully there will be enough cable to do this instead! Cheers, Noman
  7. Evenin'... Was talking to Lexus Leicester about getting this fitted into my '04 RX (they want 200notes fitted). I know the VAIS Tech. thing seems to be the option to go for but I can't find anyone who could fit it (all the installers said they hadn't worked on a RX before!) PLUS there's the whole warranty thing as I have 2 years AUC cover... ANYWAY...does anyone have the Lexus one in their car? If so, how good is it, what can/can't it do (playlists, controls, charging, etc.) AND does it work with the iPhone 3G?! Unfortunately the chap in their service dept. (Martin) didn't know and there were no cars which had it in to trial with my iPhone. Cheers & much appreciated.
  8. I use Meguiar's Wheel Brightener. Works brilliantly. Smells lovely too. I got some from here.
  9. Subaru?! That's EXACTLY what I thought! The new RX looks truly awful. Perhaps when it comes here they may fit slight different bits to it and make it more appealing??
  10. So I paid for the Gold Membership but my username and password don't seem to be recognised! Am I missing something?? Does my application/payment need to be manually authorised some way?? I'm particularly keen in getting this sorted as I'm off to the dealers on Saturday to pick up some bits so want to start saving B) Any ideas guys??
  11. Well I just filled up (at 90.9 - Tesco Leicester btw) and i've calculated my real-life MPG to be about 28mpg. So as you say - very close to what the computer is saying. I'm more than happy with that. The car needed about 50litres and was reporting 80miles left on the tank...
  12. I've had mine for a couple of days now and the computer is reckoning 30mpg - this is driving 98% on the motorway at about 65mph. Will find out the actual MPG on Thursday when I fill up. Will report back.
  13. Ahh crap. This does not sound good at all I did make a note on the delivery form when collecting it though. I'm booked in with my local dealer (Leicester) on Friday so lets see what they say - may even bring the appointment forward to tomm. as this is scaring me now. It certainly isn't worth spending £800 (or even half that!). Worse case scenario - they don't cough up. My main worry is that the rust goes to the roof! So...how easy are they to remove? I know a friend who can powder coat items (he does wheels, bikes and all sorts of things) so was thinking that I remove them and get them sorted myself. Hopefully it won't leave a hole in the roof while they are off the car...
  14. Hey, Quick hello to everyone here! I've been a Forum Member for quite a while now but never got round to posting anything - mainly because I switched marques and have only just come back! ^_^ Anyway, I picked my car at the weekend from Lexus Norwich and I'm sooooo impressed! Love it to bits! It's a RX300 SE-L on a '04 plate but it feels brand new! Couple of questions for you guys: 1). Had to reset the windows as the button lights were flashing. Guessing the dealer disconnected the battery at some point. Apart from the reset I'm presuming I don't need to do anything else (e.g. no extra dealer 'coding', etc.) ?? 2). The roof rails & rear wiper joint - both corroding. What do you think my chances are in getting these sorted under the Lexus AUC Warranty? Cheers & hope to speak to you all soon!
