  1. Grrrr. This kind of thing really makes my blood boil :tsktsk: You work hard. Get a nice car. Then some total w@nk3r does this. Not good.
  2. The headlamps should be the HID variety. Not sure what type of bulb you would need though. For the other bulbs I remember my local Lex dealer selling a kit with a variety of other bulbs in (probably for when touring in Europe) for about £20. Suggest you give them a call. Lastly, i'm sure the manual listed all the variety of bulbs so have a look there as well. Ta.
  3. Hope the pickup went well! Tell us what you think of the new 450...and don't forget to include some pics!! B)
  4. I really want to go to the 450 but at close to £60k for the top flight one it's amazing they are selling any! Hmmm. I think I will wait a little longer. One thing is for sure is that I certainly won't be buying it for the official MPG figures. I will instead be looking at it as a comfy cruzer that is laden with lots of toys that has superb reliability.
  5. I'm being tempted to change my car so the MPG values here have made interesting reading. My '300 is doing about 25mpg-ish on average and that's over 80% motorway 20% town... Crazy tyre wear though on that security guard car - 10 pairs! Blimey.
  6. Guys, Need your help please! Have been asked to be one of two(!) "Best Men" for a very good friend of mine. Have thankfully most things sorted but one thing I'm struggling with are recommendations for good places to go out in Cambridge! Have asked everyone I know but no one seems to have been there for a night out :( So...if any of you could suggest some good bars/clubs there it would be very much appreciated! Cheers :)
  7. I have the Kumho's on mine. Love them! In the recent snow they seemed to work better than the Bridgestones I had on before. Plus they are quieter on the motorway which is where my car spends 95%+ of its time. I'm sure they worked out at about £110ish a corner (bought them via BlackCircles)...
  8. I wouldn't worry too much about the missing history - especially if you are keeping it for a few years anyway. Just make it has a FULL service done it before you get it. I would also forget the exterior paintwork protection - waste of time believe me! Would also be tempted to forget the new satnav disc too. Instead, I would push for at least another years extended warranty with Lexus AND a service pack. These are MUCH more valuable/useful from my experience even if you have to pay a little more/get less of a discount...
  9. I went the Grom Audio route. Just do a search for posts i've made and you should find installation instructions. Pretty easy once you know how to take the centre dash area apart :) Anyway, it's brilliant. Works with the iPhone too. OK so I don't get track info being displayed but the info comes up on the iPhone screen anyway. Added bonus is that the steering wheel controls also work. Check it out and just post back if you have any queries. Grom audio link in the uk: Click here
  10. I have this EXACT problem - rust coming through around the rubber seal surrounding the grill From what i've seen is that another common place for rust on the RX's are the wheel arches. So check yorus if you haven't done so already! You were lucky to get yours replaced by Lexus. I was told it was "normal wear and tear" - WTF?! I've had to accept that I will just need to get the bonnet resprayed every so often. ALL cars in my opinion should be galvanised. There is no excuse in this day and age.
  11. My warranty runs out in November...and i'm planning to renew with Lexus. It's all about peace of mind and for me that premium, and I appreciate it's quite a large premium, is worthwhile. I plan to get rid of the car about this time next year when it would have done over 100k so fingers crossed the extra Lexus warranty will make it a little easier to sell on. One thing you could find out is if your Lexus dealer sell a "group" warranty - I know people like Inchcape do. Might be a better buy than a "warranty direct" thing. Cheers.
  12. Thankfully all sorted! As suggested by "Lexynik" I needed to check ALL the fuse boxes! There was another radio fuse in the 'box located in the engine bay! Quick trip to Halfords to get the "20" rated fuse and all is now good once again! Phew! A VERY big relief :) Cheers!
  13. I've checked the fuse box inside the car (passenger footwell). Will go and see the other one in the engine compartment. ta
  14. Gents, Need some help please...URGENTLY! So this mornings task was to install a Nokia bluetooth car kit (CK-7W) into the IS. I tapped into the cig lighter feed and all worked well...until I put everything back together! The stereo now won't turn on!!!!! I've checked for power coming into the multi-block connector that fits into the back of the stereo and there is indeed some so I can't figure it out?? The nav works fine, as do all the buttons, electric seats, etc. yet the stereo just wont power up :( Any ideas please required urgently!!!! Ta, Noman
  15. Aren't these for the infra-red headphones for the DVD system??
  16. Looking great! I love the Kodiak colour :)
  17. Nice one. Sounds like a plan. You don't still happen to have the stereo wiring diagram for the RX - especially for the mute wire? Ta.
  18. Just picked up (on the cheap!) a Nokia CK-7W bluetooth kit as this weekends car DIY project! I don't need the car to mute or for the sound to come out of the car speakers but I do need somewhere to power the Nokia unit from! Any suggestions chaps? Is it safe to hook into the cig lighter circuit for example? Any suggestions much appreciated :)
  19. How much do you reckon it will cost here?? £25k?? I just can't help thinking it looks VERY similar in profile to the Auris...
  20. If you leave it pressed the little green light in the dash should light up and flash for a while once you start your car - that's how you will know it's on and doing it's thing. As for the AFS - that's the swivel/follow-the-steering-angle headlight override. I think it's called Adaptive Front Steering?? Anyway, this button turns it off. I leave mine on all the time but some peeps say they turn it off when they travel in Europe. Hope this helps matey. It's a cracking car so enjoy!
  21. The button you are talking about is to get the car to lower itself when you park up and allow you to get in and out a little easier. Once you've started the car and engaged drive the car returns to it's "normal" ride height.
  22. Like everyone says - make sure it has been serviced regularly and looked after! My RX (2004 model, SE-L) now has close to 85k on the clock. It hasn't missed a beat! I get it serviced on the dot from Lexus (Nottingham) and although a little pricey to maintain/run it is by the far the best car i've owned! I don't want to tempt fate so also went for the Lexus extended warranty and will be renewing again with them later this year. Unfortunately i've seen quite a few for sale that are quite low mileage but have not been looked after - even at Lexus dealers! So keep a careful eye out...
  23. Last week I was told my near side rear had siezed. Lexus Nottingham wanted about £190 all-in to fix. Luckily i've still got the Lexus warranty so all was sorted FOC :) Interestingly my car has done close to 90k so must have hit the 5/6year limit for these things.
