  1. Driving on the motorway gets me about 350ish to the tank. Would like better economy but I know I will loose out in other areas if I change the car (e.g. comfort, reliability). However, if I see a decent RX350 I may be tempted to change to that :P
  2. Lexus Leicester. What a surprise. I've never had a good experience with their Sales or Service since crica 2000 (when they were located on Blackbird Road). Anyway, can't stand them. That's why my cars go to Lexus Nottingham even though Lexus Leicester is about 2miles from me...
  3. Many congratulations Peter & welcome to LOC! My advice would be: 1). Look into a service plan - you get a discount on the service and any work required. 2). Warranty - It's a complicated car and some of the early ones I believe suffer from ECU issues. Check out the options available for extending the existing one. 3). Tyre pressure sensors - some of these have been known to stick and then break when changing tyres. Cost a fortune to replace so be very careful when getting tyres changed. I'm sure there is a way to maintain them so fingers crossed someone will come along soon and advise more. I still love the S class by the way. They did go through an "iffy" phase but I think they are wonderful :) Anyway, hope all goes well on pick-up day. Get some photos up when it stops raining! Ta, Noman
  4. Believe it's one of the settings - I think it's called "screen transition". Check out the sat nav manual or have a play. From memory i'm sure it's via one of the first screens you get to once you've pressed one of the main buttons. Apologies - I don't have my car today so I can't check for you.
  5. Just give your local dealer a call. Have your VIN number at hand and they will check for you! Like others, mine came back with the valet, fuel and champagne B)
  6. As long as the warranty is continuous you should be OK. Double check with the Lexus warranty help line though just to make sure.
  7. If you are getting 32/33mpg and drive steady then you are doing very well! It's still a big (heavy) car. The mpg figures quoted by Lexus were done under very controlled conditions. Some people say you need to adapt to the hybrid way of driving (e.g. coasting, etc.) but I still do not think you will get much more and certainly not close to the official figures. Friends with diesel BMW X5's and Merc ML's don't even get the MPG i'm getting out of my petrol RX. We all enjoy the cars for what they are and have to accept that mpg in particular is a trade-off. If the mpg is the key factor then you may well have to look at another car :(
  8. Mines due in on Monday so fingers crossed I'll get the same too!
  9. Welcome to Lexus & LOC! Congrats on your purchase B) Loved the Senators by the way. Couldn't drive when they were out but DESPERATELY wanted one "when I grew up"!
  10. I drive an '04 RX300 and on a calculated MPG I currently see 25mpg. 90% of this is motorway miles. Rest is heavy city traffic. Must say I wasn't expecting a great deal more than this as it's a big car. I enjoy it's comfort/reliability/etc. so I'm happy B)
  11. £5190?! Hmmm. Something sounds rather dodge here. Suggest you get it inspected elsewhere too. If it was me and it really was going to cost that much I would get rid immediately!
  12. Welcome to LOC & many congratulations on the RX! I've had mine for a couple of years now and love it :) Anyway, get some pics up when you can - would be great to see the new addition.
  13. I've seen this happen on mine too. Only when it's REALLY cold though (below minus 5). In my experience they seem to retract on their own once the temp increases and continue to work OK.
  14. The way I see it is that if there's ice there is very little you can do regardless of whether you are in a 4x4 or not. I guess winter tyres and/or snow chains may help but otherwise just take extra care precautions. As for snow driving i'm sure people on here have said the 400h is not 4 wheel drive all the time...
  15. Touch wood my Lexus RX has been faultless...until now. Was driving along today when all of a sudden the "AFS OFF" light started to flash. I stopped and restarted the car and all went back to normal but i'm now worried. Having done a couple of searches here it could be a leveling sensor problem. Anyone had this replaced - if so how much are we looking? I'm presuming it's not a DIY job?? I reckon all this could be related to some condensation i've been seeing in my passenger headlamp. Hasn't really bothered me until now but i've got a feeling it could be related :( Anyway, any info guys would be much appreciated. Ta.
  16. Remote entry and normal key start...check out the banner below for my MPG :)
  17. Thanks guys. Good advice. Will make a note of it. Now I just need to sell the IS and then hello GS450! ;)
  18. Hi, Thinking of a bit of a reshuffle - selling the IS200 of her indoors, giving her my RX and then getting myself a GS450! B) Fingers crossed I've found one but if I go for it I would need to get the wheels refurbed. Having read a couple of postings it sounds like the tyre pressure monitors have a bit of a habit for snapping when changing tyres. I found out from Lex today that each sensor kit is circa £180 SO...personally I don't need such things telling me I have a flat/low pressure so is there any way of disabling things so I don't get warning messages up on the dash?? Cheers, Noman
  19. Glad you got it sorted...but absolutely AMAZED that Lexus paid up!! I tend to agree with IHPJ and don't think he was talking out of line when he said the car had been "subject to extreme conditions". I would be very wary of any car that had been written off at such a young age with "minor flood damage". The RX is massively complex (like many modern cars) but with the addition of the hybrid drive system it just makes it even worse. Anyway, I guess each to their own. Hope you enjoy many more years of motoring in it.
  20. I have had my RX300 SE-L for nearly two years now. The car has done about 100k with me putting on more than half. Apart from tyres (once) I have had to do nothing to it except get it serviced. It has not missed a beat. Ever. What a cracking car! SUPER comfortable. Massively reliable. Top dealer (Lexus Derby). My advice is to make sure you get the Lexus Warranty and a service pack. You won't regret it :) My only problem now is that I'm being tempted to change it for something newer but whatever I look at it just doesn't compare with the overall ownership experience! I may just end up keeping it B)
  21. £198+VAT for a SINGLE BULB?!?! WTF?! Surely it's just a HID bulb?? Hmmm. Really hope mine don't go anytime soon...
  22. I fitted the Grom unit quite a while back. Love it to bits. In fact I haven't loaded a single CD into the changed since! Do a search for posts made by myself and you'll find some fitting instructions too! Ta.
