  1. I received a reply to my email yesterday. I won't recite it verbatim here but here are the salient points:- 1. Lexus are aware that criminals have attempted to gain access by the CANBUS method and have been testing some prototype protective plates and checking the installation of this plate. 2. This testing has been carried out for the RX only. 3. Lexus are not aware of the NX being targeted by thieves using this method and the protection plate will only be made available for the previous generation RX. This is not to say it won't be rolled out across other models and this is certainly a topic in discussion at the moment. Once further information becomes available, this will be shared with the Lexus Centre Network. So good news or bad news - depending on your outlook.
  2. There is another similar thread on the RX forum where owners have also discussed the retrofit of the metal plate to the affected wheel arch area which makes the CANBUS method of theft a lot more difficult. I have just sent an email to Lexus Customer Relations to enquire whether Lexus plan to offer the fitment of the plate to NX owners and, if so, how I can arrange to have it fitted to mine in the first instance. I will await their reply and report back.

  4. It might be worth posting the car's registration number here (assuming you're not someone who is fearful of putting that out online for all to see) - maybe a member on here previously owned the car and can throw some light on the missing service history. Just a thought.
  5. I don't believe that this is related to your iCloud account. When I (very occasionally) get this prompt I enter the email address and password that I use to login to the MyLexus website (or the Lexus Link app). That seems to cure it. Have you tried that?
  6. I would imagine that Lexus' reply would be that you have two options:- Take delivery of the car now without the locking wheel nuts and accept the risk that the wheels are more vulnerable to being stolen (and absolve Lexus of any responsibility should that happen) Don't take delivery of the car until the wheel nuts have been sourced and are in place If it were me, I would probably choose option 1 - especially bearing in mind that nothing on a car, no matter how well it is secured, is totally theft-proof anymore. Good luck with the RZ - looks a very nice car.
  7. I saw a post in one of the NX groups on Facebook yesterday with a photo of a car transporter purportedly leaving the Derby PDI centre (so I assume on route to the dealerships) loaded up with new NXs and these did not have number plates on them. If the transporter was indeed leaving Derby then this would suggest that the plates don't get fitted until the cars reach the dealer.
  8. With regards to the having the ceramic coating done.... I politely refused the offer from the dealership to do it and went to a professional detailer instead. I'm very OCD when it comes to keeping my car clean and shiny so it was worth the extra cost to me. The coating service offered by the dealer will likely be subcontracted to a third party who, for the price you are paying for it, are not likely to do it in the way that it should be done. Best advice is to go to a qualified professional (with good reviews), however be aware that you are likely to be paying double the £500 that your dealer has quoted. I can thoroughly recommend the detailer who did mine if you are willing to travel to south Essex. Let me know if so and I'll post the details here.
  9. I very occasionally get this error in my NX350h (it has the same Lexus Interface infotainment system in it I believe). To solve this I click on "OK" on the pop-up error message (I think it's "OK" but it might be something else along those lines - I can't remember now) which will take me to a login screen. At this point I enter the email address and password that I use to log in to my MyLexus web account (or the Lexus Link app). Hope this helps.
  10. @Gary H As you are starting to get closer to crunch time with your UX contract, have you considered cancelling your current NX order (if possible and assuming no penalty incurred) and looking elsewhere for the NX? Would you be prepared to travel across the country to source a NX from a different dealer? I still occasionally get emails from my local dealer advertising new NXs that are supposedly available for delivery within a month or two (I assume that these are cancelled orders). Obviously you may have to be slightly flexible on spec and possibly the colour combination. Also you may find some nearly-new, low mileage, used examples across the dealer network.
  11. Are you referring to the settings within the car's Infotainment system? If so then I would suggest that you check the settings for Android Auto (AA) on your phone (you can find these somewhere under the phone's general settings). In these AA settings you will find an option entitled "Start Android Auto automatically". If you want AA to start every time you plug in the phone, ensure that this option is set to "Always". If this option is already set then I'm not sure what the problem might be - sorry.
  12. I received a similar letter today. Fortunately for me, my local dealer is only 5 miles up the road. Still a nuisance having to find time to fit it in.
  13. The AAWireless device that has been mentioned previously only works with Android phones (and therefore Android Auto) however there are similar devices available for Apple phones and Apple CarPlay, for example:- https://cplay2air.com/en-gb [I can't vouch for this one specifically - just giving you an example - other owners on here may be able to guide you] In my opinion this would be a better solution to running wires from the dash USB port into the armrest. Simply plug the wireless adapter into the USB port and then run wireless CarPlay with the phone on the wireless charger in the armrest.
  14. There is a button just below the gear selector in the centre console. Here is an extract from the manual showing it's location:-
  15. Yeah, I saw that clause listed on the council website. Seems crazy that if I'm traveling down a road that I've never been on before and hit a pothole that obviously I wasn't aware of, I would need to rely on someone else having gone to all the trouble to report it beforehand.
  16. To be honest Len, the fitter I went to (not my local one but the only one in the surrounding area that could supply the correct tyre in 24 hours) hardly spoke a word of English and wasn't very forthcoming so I didn't push for any "post match analysis" 😗 The alloy wheel itself appears to be ok.
  17. I did toy with that idea but in the end I decided against it as there is no place in the car for a spare. And although I can't recall having more than 1 or 2 punctures in my 35 years of driving I just know that if I had replaced all 4 with normal tyres, it wouldn't be long before I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere with a puncture waiting ages for the RAC with the grandkids in the back. Anyway, tyre now replaced. £274 poorer. Currently checking out how to make a claim to the local council for pothole damage compensation (but not optimistic on my chances of success). Thanks to everyone on here for all the advice.
  18. Ronnie - thanks for your input but I need to ensure that the tyres on all 4 corners are the same make and model, plus they need to be runflats.
  19. Looking back, I do remember hitting a not inconsiderable pothole a few weeks ago (that has since been temporarily filled in). The roads in my neck of the woods are in a terrible state at the moment. I did have a cursory look around the car at the time but didn't spot anything amiss. Maybe it took a while for the bulge to show itself. I'll definitely look into seeing how I might be able to claim the cost back from the local council.
  20. I'll definitely be getting the same make (Bridgestone Alenza). The car has only done just over 7000 miles so the difference in tread depth between old and new shouldn't be too great.
  21. They are indeed runflats. I'm fully expecting to need a replacement. Just arranging the finance 😀 Cheapest I've seen online for a replacement is £274 (Asda Tyres). Maybe my local independent fitter will be slightly cheaper.
  22. Thanks for all the replies received to date. Much appreciated. I'll take the car to my local tyre fitter in the morning and report back.
  23. Hi all, Advice needed please. Whilst washing the car today I noticed that there is a slight bulge in one of my tyres where it meets the alloy wheel (photos attached below). Not sure how long it has been like that. Is this something I should be unduly concerned about? I'd appreciate any advice from people on here before taking it to a tyre place who most likely will want to fleece me for a new tyre whether I need one or not (which won't be cheap). The tyre pressure is correct and it doesn't appear to be losing air. Car drives and steers fine. No damage to the alloy in that area. Maybe some pothole damage? Thanks in advance.
