  1. Just downloaded it on my Samsung phone. I have a feeling that it might not be strictly for UK owners but it does work OK. At first glance it does look slightly better. The "home" screen has been revamped with the addition of various "cards" (e.g. "Remote Control"; the car's status with regards to any warning lights; service and maintenance history; and the last journey's hybrid coaching stats). These cards can be rearranged or even hidden if desired. They have also added the "range to empty" figure alongside the pre-existing mileage and remaining fuel percentage figures. Looks like they have removed the "last known location" information though (unless I'm missing something). There is a tab to plan a journey but although I could search for a location I couldn't see how I could start the route or send it to the car. The separate "hybrid coaching" display looks better in my opinion - you no longer need to click into a journey to see the most pertinent stats (EV usage; MPG; etc.). [The above is what I can see for my NX350h - not sure what is displayed for other models \ variants] Still needs a bit of work though - for example a card that I had previously hidden reappeared when I relaunched the app. A step in the right direction I guess.
  2. I agree that the electric range for a self-charging hybrid would be negligible so I'm guessing that it would be related to the % of "EV time" or "EV distance" for each journey, as recorded in the Lexus Link app (when it works). This takes into account the total EV usage as the car switches from EV to ICE and vice versa. On my journeys I regularly get over 50% for both EV values. Maybe there would be a threshold of "EV time" (say, 50%) where a discount would apply?
  3. Congratulations on your new car. I previously owned a 2018 NX300h for about 3 years and was very pleased with it. I was averaging just around the 40mpg mark (give or take a couple of points below or above depending on the temperature \ time of year). If the Gen 2 NX hadn't come along, it's highly likely that I would still be driving the NX300h now.
  4. I agree that it is a bit "hit and miss". Some people have suggested that you should back away from the car as soon as possible after pressing the button however I have found that lingering around the boot area for a few seconds after pressing it, and then moving away, seems to work best for me.
  5. I saw that too Ken. They even mentioned the DCM connectivity in the car and the Lexus Link app being integral to this potential new insurance offering. I'm not sure either of these components are stable enough to be relied upon just yet. For anyone interested, this is what we are referring to:- https://youtu.be/hTXpLyp7c40
  6. Bill, please ensure that the login details that you are entering are the same as those you have used for the Lexus Link app and the MyLexus website. If that still doesn't work - try a password reset via one of those 2 systems and then try again in the car (using the new password). Hope this helps.

  8. I too was under the impression that Gracenote was a thing of the past (at least in the latest Lexus models with the new Lexus Interface software) however the Multimedia manual for the Gen 2 NX has various references to it, including:- "Information such as the song name, cover art, and station logo is available for the track broadcast on the radio while listening to FM/DAB. This information can be retrieved from the Gracenote server via DCM or Wi-Fi and displayed." Nothing about updates to it though. I haven't seen this particular "update required" message on my 2022 NX350h (although I don't use the DAB radio or the native music player). @Franklin - are you able to post a picture of the message that you are getting so that others can possibly help further?
  9. I wonder why, after supposedly getting access to the wiring in the wheel arch, they couldn't start the car and complete the theft. Maybe they were startled by something or someone - or maybe their tried and tested method of starting the car (aka the RX method) doesn't work on the NX (or at least your model of it)? We live in hope.
  10. I'm not against darker wheels per se - it's just that there is no colour contrast between the car and the wheels. (First world problems, I know!)
  11. It's 4 wheels Malc - no spare wheel on the 2nd Gen NX.
  12. Hi all, I have a Sonic Grey 2022 NX350h in the Premium Plus specification. As part of this spec, the car comes with 20" 5-spoke alloys in a dark grey (gun metal?) colour. Although I like the design of the wheels there is no colour contrast between them and the car itself (they are pretty much the same colour). When I ordered the car I wanted other aspects of the Premium Plus trim so decided to bite the bullet and go ahead with it. I thought that this colour combination would grow on me but it's still the only thing that I mildly dislike about the whole car. So, I'm considering having them powder coated to something like the common or garden silver colour that you see on most cars. I plan to keep the car for quite a while yet so I feel that it could be a good investment. I'd like to hear experiences from any LOC members that have had their wheels powder coated, specifically:- How much is it likely to cost? How long does it take (i.e. would my car be out of action for longer than a day or two)? Would this be considered a modification by my insurer (or even my PCP provider - Lexus Finance)? Would doing this have an impact on future resale value (either at a Lexus dealer for p/x or with a private buyer) as the car is no longer standard specification? What impact would this have on the durability of the wheels themselves (i.e. would they be more prone to deterioration or kerbing)? Aside from powder coating, what other options are available to me to achieve the same result? If I get more negative than positive responses to the above I'll probably give up on the idea and live with how they are at the moment. Thanks all. Any responses much appreciated, as always.
  13. My initial suggestion would be to check that you don't have the volume setting for the spoken commands down too low via the Infotainment system (or even muted). Try raising the system volume via the steering wheel controls (or the centre button under the central display) to coincide with when you suspect that Apple Maps should be issuing spoken instructions. If that doesn't work then maybe others on here who use Apple Maps may be able to help.
  14. For anyone that is considering having a tracker fitted but who doesn't want to go to the expense and trouble of having an "all singing and dancing" one installed, you may wish to consider a cheaper alternative, i.e. the tracking tags that are available from both Apple (called "AirTags") for IOS devices and Samsung ("SmartTags") for Android. These small devices broadcast their location by constantly pinging Apple (or Samsung) devices (e.g. smartphones or tablets) in their vicinity, who in turn relay this location to central servers. The owner of the tag can then view it's location on their smartphone (maybe to within a few houses\streets). Primarily designed for keeping tabs on keys; pets; etc. they can be hidden somewhere in the car to provide a basic tracker solution. Of course I'm not suggesting that they are the perfect option but in the above scenario where the thieves park the car in a location for a day or two before going back to move it on, these tags may just help you find it. And for their relative cheap price (about £25 each) what do you have to lose?
  15. @Franklin As well as taking note of the useful advice given here by other forum members, it may be helpful to learn that you can manually disable the key fob from transmitting signals by pressing and holding down the LOCK button on the fob and at the same time pressing the UNLOCK button twice. The small light on the fob will flash 4 times to indicate that the key has been disabled. Note that this will disable the keyless entry so you will need to use the key fob to subsequently unlock the car. I do this all the time and it soon becomes second nature. I personally trust this method over the faraday pouch option. Plus it helps to conserve the key fob battery.
  16. Very nice. Congratulations! I must admit that I much prefer the Takumi 20" alloys to the 5 spoke gun metal 20" ones that my Premium Plus NX has - mainly because, although I like the design, there is no colour contrast with my Sonic Grey paintwork. Anyone fancy a swap? 😉
  17. I agree wholeheartedly. Take car insurance for example (a hot topic at the moment, on this forum and elsewhere). Most people, when deciding who to insure with, value the cost of the policy over any other aspect of the decision-making process and hope that they never need to discover how well (or not) the cheapest insurer deals with a claim further down the line. I can understand why people do this, especially now for example when times are hard (and there are obviously a fair few people who don't have to make a claim and therefore can justify going with the cheapest quote each year), but I've always believed that the true value of an insurance policy is only revealed when you need to claim on it. However, like you say Bill, this is assuming the differential of service over price isn't too great. As Mark Twain said - "You pays your money and you takes your choice."
  18. No HUD issues for me either. [BTW - I did wonder what had happened with regards to your earlier issue with the creases in the dash]
  19. I know what you mean about the multitude of configurable options. I think the developers wanted to take into account every flavour of head-unit and Android phone/operating system on the market. Do you have "Passthrough" enabled in the Device Settings? This will enable the "vanilla" setting (i.e. with little or no configuration options in play) and which works for me. The only configurable option I employ is the setting to select a particular WiFi channel frequency (165 in my case) as this stopped the device from "dropping out" when I passed by a particular mobile phone tower near my home. If the above advice doesn't help then let me know here and I will screenshot my exact configuration.
  20. There are dongles on the market that can mimic wireless AA if you want to achieve that functionality. There are references to these devices on this forum and elsewhere on the LOC in general (for example, search for "AAWireless"). The AAWireless device works perfectly in my NX350h every time. So well in fact that I doubt that any potential future software upgrade from Lexus to enable wireless AA natively would perform any better.
  21. No phone issues for me using Android Auto. Are you able to elaborate on what problems you are having?
  22. The ship will go to Egypt and then, ultimately, on to England. If it follows the same route that the ship carrying my NX350h sailed then it should look something like this:- Up the Red Sea and then into the Suez Canal. From there it will emerge into the Mediterranean Sea. The next port of call from there will be Livorno in Italy before finally setting sail for Portbury. As @HMT has suggested, keep your eye on the Portbury website for it's schedule of arrivals. Once on land the car will most likely be transported to the Toyota PDI centre at Derby and then onto your dealer. How long it stays at Derby will likely depend on what "extras" they need to add to the car and how busy they are with other PDIs. I would say worst case scenario would be 4 weeks but it might be quicker than that. Your dealer may also need it for a few days too before letting you take delivery. Hope this helps.
  23. Had a strange one with the app this morning. After it had been working fairly well for quite a few weeks I opened the app today and it reported my car's location as 49 miles away in a place I had never been to before in my life, let alone with this car. It should have been reporting it at my home (in the garage). The last trip information was correct however (i.e. it was correctly showing the journey home yesterday). It did concern me enough to force me to get dressed and go down to the garage to check it was still there, which thankfully it was. Like others on here, I've had the app report out of date location information but never some random place miles away.
  24. I haven't experienced this in my NX350h so not sure what might have been occurring for you. If I were you I would monitor it over the next few journeys and see if any of it re-occurs. If it does then it's probably best to refer it to your dealer. With regards to the "Software Update Failed" message - you could try a manual software update via the Infotainment screen Settings and see if there is one available for your system. Might also be worth checking first what the current software version is (again via the same section of the Infotainment settings). I believe that the current version is 1040 (or 1050 if the car came with the latest version already pre-installed prior to delivery).
  25. I am very OCD when it comes to keeping my car clean (just ask my neighbours LOL!). On average I probably clean it about once every two weeks at least. I actually look forward to doing it as I like the car to look it's best plus I find it very therapeutic. I think I caught the bug from my father who had a long association with the motor car (he had been a lorry driver; a bus driver and finally a chauffer). Fortunately I'm still spritely enough to continue doing it without too much stress on my ageing joints - although when doing the wheels I find myself having to bend down in instalments 😄 I dread the day when I can no longer do it myself, at which point I would definitely seek out a mobile valet and detailer.
