  1. I'm on my second NX hybrid and have never "fiddled" with the various driving modes - I just simply keep it in normal mode all the time and let the car do the thinking. I've averaged around 45 MPG over the years this way. What might be more useful for you is to research the best driving style to get the maximum MPG such as "hypermiling"; coasting and regenerative braking. There are numerous posts on these topics to be found on this forum and the internet in general.
  2. There was no mention of price on that particular initial web page - there may have been had I selected that option and delved deeper.
  3. Just to add a little nugget of information to the discussion around how well (or not) Lexus are advertising the availability of the protection plate for the RX...... When I was booking in my NX online for it's forthcoming annual service (since COVID my local dealer has employed an automated locker system to drop off the key), I noticed that alongside the usual extras that they try to sell you on the booking website (air con re-gen; mud-flaps; etc.) there was an option to have the plates fitted (should your car be an RX) with a description along the lines of "enhanced protection for your RX". Obviously this relies on the owner choosing to book in their car online (assuming their dealer uses this method) and actually noticing the option.
  4. Just had my renewal quote from my insurer (Lexus Motor Insurance) and it has risen from £303 last year to £431. Not too bad I guess - all things considered. Especially so when you bear in mind that the comparison sites (and the usual suspects that don't appear on these sites) were all returning quotes over £1,000. In light of that, I have renewed with them.
  5. I have used Carista on my NX350h to change settings with no issues.
  6. With regards to the point you make @Hayzee regarding unwanted tracking and the safety measure built into the system to prevent, for example, stalking, etc., there are ways to circumvent this - which I won't go into on this forum (and which I definitely don't condone for other, more nefarious, uses of these devices).
  7. I have 2 Samsung SmartTags (the Android equivalent to Apple's AirTags) hidden in my NX350h. Their location (and therefore that of the car) can be pinpointed via the accompanying Samsung SmartThings app on my phone (and only my phone). Overall they work very well albeit they rely on other Samsung smartphones in their vicinity to detect them and report their location to Samsung's central server, so coverage can be a bit patchy. I'm not suggesting that they are a real alternative to the bespoke car trackers on the market but I'm hopeful that they could help me to find the car (to within a street or two) should the worst happen. Only time will tell I guess.
  8. Like a few others on here, I have been using the AAWireless dongle to connect my Android phone to Android Auto "wirelessly" and it does the job perfectly so this may be the solution for your partner's phone. Furthermore, if you purchase the 2nd generation of the dongle, there is currently a beta program ongoing which will hopefully enable it to also work with Apple CarPlay in the near future. So in theory you'll only need the one dongle between you. https://www.aawireless.io/carplay
  9. The insurance renewal for my NX350h comes up in the middle of February - I'm currently with Lexus Insurance - so I'm waiting with trepidation as to what the renewal price will be. I had an email from the AA a few days ago advertising their car insurance (I have home insurance with them) so I thought there's no harm in getting an online quote. I couldn't quite believe the price that came back - £2,717 😲 (Full no-claims; early 60's in age; retired; 6,000 miles per year; car kept in garage overnight; fairly safe neighbourhood). I'm guessing that they didn't really want to insure me (or more likely, the car).
  10. Here's my list (quite varied I think considering that I've only ever had a driving licence to drive automatics). There may be one or two gaps in this list as I've had so many cars over the years that I've lost track. Vauxhall Viva (the car I learnt to drive and pass my test with) Ford Capri (with "go faster stripes" 😀) Nissan Silvia (with the pop-up headlights 😎) Peugeot 406 Coupe 2 x Lexus IS250 Mercedes SLK Porsche Boxster 986 Porsche Boxster 987 S Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4s Porsche 911 997 Carrera S Nissan Micra (don't ask 😀) Mercedes CLS 2 x Kia Sportage Lexus NX300h Lexus NX350h I owned the Porsches when I was in my early 40s and everyone joked that I was having a mid-life crisis 😀 but in fact the real reason was that that was the period of my life when I could start to afford such luxuries. My biggest regret was that I allowed myself to get too paranoid about using them as a daily driver (e.g. parking them in supermarket car parks; driving them in bad weather; etc.) that I never got to enjoy them fully (plus they never got to see a track day). The Nissan Micra on my list was acquired from my late father to use on a daily basis with the Porsche kept in the garage and reserved for "special occasions". Choosing which car to use at the time was like going from the sublime to the ridiculous!
  11. I guess one option would be to use the gift card to purchase items from Amazon AU for your son (and his family and possibly other trusted individuals?) in Australia over the forthcoming months until the card value is drained. You could seek recompense from them for each purchase in some way (electronic or otherwise). I realise that's a bit of a faff but it would work. Now whether your son is willing, or indeed able, to stump up another $600 for the planned Christmas present is another matter.
  12. Same here Ken - I have had my NX350h for just under 2 years on a 36 month PCP deal (so still 14 months to run). I've had 2 emails recently (one from Lexus Financial Services and one from Lexus UK itself) stating that as the end of my agreement is "on the horizon" (must be a faraway horizon 😉) I might be looking to change/upgrade. Anyway, I'm definitely not looking to change my car until the PCP deal ends, at the earliest. Furthermore at that point I might reluctantly look at other brands if Lexus don't sort out all these theft vulnerability issues that exist currently.
  13. I agree with everything that has been said here already. I've had my NX350h for nearly 2 years now and have zero regrets. MPG is currently 48.5 from new. Just to add..... don't be put off by any car journalists or YouTubers complaining about the newfangled door handles or the gear shifter - you will get used to them very quickly.
  14. May I ask how soon in advance did Lexus Insurance notify you of the cost to renew? I am with them too (cover expires in early February) and wondered when I will receive the (likely) bad news about the cost of renewing. Thanks.
  15. I couldn't have put it better - having also had a NX300h with 18s before. I can't feel or hear any discernible difference between the two cars. The only drawback is, as Ken says, the higher cost of replacing the run-flats. Plus I feel that they are more prone to damage from potholes; etc. due to their composition (I have already had to replace one tyre due to this - at a cost of £280 - and have only done just over 10,000 miles).
  16. Hi Alan, I had the same pop-up in my NX350h yesterday so you're not alone. I clicked on "OK" and then re-enabled the "Share geolocation with Toyota" option. I haven't driven the car since doing that so not sure if the problem has been resolved permanently. Maybe a blip at the Lexus\Toyota back-end?
  17. Straight from the horse's mouth (or the user manual at least):- To be honest I'm not sure how it does it (have never checked and looked) but I'm hopeful that it is more scientific than just allowing run-off to flow over the lens.
  18. That's one of my pet hates too. It's quite simple really - if you're not going faster than the traffic in the lane to the left of you then pull into that lane when it's safe to do so. It's not rocket science.
  19. No problem @Starlight Here you go:- You'll notice that most of the settings are pretty much Default or Disabled - this is because I have "Passthrough" set to "Enabled". The only setting that I have changed is under the "Wi-Fi Settings" option where I have changed the "Wi-Fi Channel" to 165. This was to prevent the device from "dropping out" whenever I passed a particular place on my commute (likely due to interference from mobile phone masts at that location). Hope this helps.
  20. As has been stated by others, the circular blanking plate in your photo is not related to the door puddle lights. The blanking plate that is related to the puddle lights can be found slightly above the circular plate - it's a small rectangular shaped plate that is part of the black plastic door trim. As far as I know, all specifications of the Gen 2 NX should at least have the plate in each of the front doors. I believe that whether the plate has the necessary wiring behind it may depend on what specification you have. Once you have found each plate (carefully) use a small screwdriver or car trim removal tool to prise the plate off and check to see if the wiring exists. If it does then it's a simple 10 minute job to wire up the lights. For what it's worth, my 2022 Premium Plus NX350h had the wiring.
  21. My AAWireless dongle has been pretty much faultless since the day I purchased it nearly 3 years ago - and with multiple Samsung phones over that time (S10+; S20 FE and now a S21 Ultra). Connects (very quickly) every time and there is no lag with music streaming or navigation using Google Maps. @Starlight have you tried using the "Enable Passthrough" option for the device via the companion App's settings? This places the device into it's most basic, vanilla, configuration (so you will lose some of the extra functionality such as changing the screen DPI for example) but I find it works best for me as there is less margin for error. Give this a try if you haven't already. Failing that, feel free to DM me and I will be happy to send you a screenshot of my whole device settings so you can try to mirror these on yours.
  22. I would try uninstalling both apps from your phone. Then search for "Lexus Link+" on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (depending on which type of phone you have) and install it directly from there. Once installed, try to register your car again (if prompted). Hope this helps.
  23. I got the update too today (Android). As revealed by @HMT earlier.... They have made some improvements to the Hybrid Coaching section, namely: 1. Under the "Overview" section you can select each of the last 12 month's datasets separately. 2. The "Trips" section goes back far more months than in the previous version of the app.
  24. Unless the download/upload alert you received was related to the Lexus app itself (or the phone suddenly reboots), this shouldn't have an adverse effect on the app's functionality.
  25. What if you did the whole process whilst sat in the car? That way the message with the QR code should stay on the screen, maybe.
