  1. Hi Ken, I'm surprised to hear that you feel this way as I had a feeling from your many other posts on the forum that you were very satisfied with the car itself. What is it about the Lexus Link app particularly that is making you contemplate selling? To me, the app is purely a "nice-to-have" add-on to owning the car. I could definitely live without it and still love the car. Admittedly I don't have the PHEV version so do not need the battery charging aspects of the app. In fact, I don't use any of the other functionality such as pre-heating the car; remote lock; etc. so apart from the "last parked location" and past journey analysis (which, as we all know, is very hit and miss) I wouldn't use it at all. I know that there have been a few recalls (I think mine has gone back to the dealer twice for these) but that hasn't bothered me much either. Maybe I'm more easily satisfied 😉
  2. That's interesting Ken. By way of comparison, my NX350h (14 months old with just over 7,000 miles on the clock) has returned 48 mpg in it's lifetime so far (as indicated by the car's on-board computer so may be a tad "optimistic"). So, not a big difference. Sorry, not trying to cast aspersions on your (or anyone else's) choice of getting the PHEV - just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone weighing up the two options. FWIW, I would have bought the 450h+ over the 350h if I had the capability to charge it at home (living in a flat took that option away) as a PHEV would be perfect for the journeys I make 90% of the time.
  3. Any motoring journalist that over-dramatizes the functionality of the NX's door handles as Clarkson has done (to the Nth degree by the way - "stuck in the car until 4am; blah; blah; blah") loses all credibility in my opinion. Anyone that can't use them (or understand the logic behind the technology) shouldn't be allowed behind the wheel of a car, let alone review one. He also makes reference to the "beeps" when using the infotainment system. Is he not clever enough to work out that you can turn that off in seconds via the settings? Has he not driven a modern car before? I'm sure he makes things up for shock value - he's just walking clickbait. I'm not trying to be defensive on my choice of car and I'm not saying the new NX is perfect (I know that others on here have had some not inconsiderable issues with aspects of it) but at least review it in a reasoned, rational, way and not use it as the latest attempt to "get noticed".
  4. Well, as we all know, you can get it in cloudburst grey 😀
  5. I've only just seen this news having been "offline" for a few days. Such sad news - RIP John. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
  6. Have you tried looking for a case for the Pixel 7 that will somewhat "cancel out" the height difference between the camera bar and the rest of the phone's back? That way, the phone may lie a bit flatter on the surface of the charger and make a better contact. Obviously the case would need to support wireless charging.
  7. Thanks for the info Ken. Aside from the considerable expense of the run flats fitted to the new NX, my other slight concern was availability. Was the tyre easy to source?
  8. Or Black & Rich Cream - a slightly more "conservative" choice but with a splash of brightness.
  9. Hi Chirag. Welcome to the forum. Are you saying that the head-up display is not showing at all? If so then it should be possible to turn it on via the following "Hey Lexus" command:- "Hey Lexus Turn on the head-up display" Alternatively you can turn it on via the Infotainment screen. Go to Settings > Vehicle customise > Head-up display If these suggestions don't work then it might require a visit to your dealer for further investigation.
  10. An issue very similar to this was reported on the US Club Lexus forum a while back and it was felt that it was a manufacturing defect caused by the airbag contained within that section of the dash creating an indentation. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-2nd-gen-2022-current/987948-check-your-nx-manufacturer-defect-nx-airbag-imprint-indentation-do-you-have-this.html Looks like it's not an uncommon occurrence across different makes of cars. Unfortunately the thread on that forum seems to end without any update on whether the OP's issue was solved. Nevertheless I thought you might be interested in reading it. Sorry I can't help further. I hope you can get it resolved.
  11. Maybe a small crumb of comfort for you Gary.... if your car enters the build stage within the next 3 or 4 weeks (and is promptly put on a ship thereafter) then a delivery date of mid to late May is still a possibility. This is based on my experience with ordering my NX350h in 2021/22.
  12. I'm with Lexus Insurance (primarily for the fact that they say that all repairs will be carried out by Lexus workshops). My documentation states that "Lexus Motor Insurance is a trading name of Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance UK Limited" and that the policy is "Underwritten by Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance UK Limited". For anyone considering Lexus Insurance - I went with them for the reason I stated above plus their price was very competitive (for me at least). I have not needed to make a claim (famous last words!) so can't comment on their performance in that regard. I would say though that their customer-facing IT system seems a bit old school and their general customer support (e.g. when I renewed my policy recently) was somewhat below par so hopefully their claims process is better. Time will tell I guess.
  13. Not having an ES I can't help you with questions 1 and 2 but with regards to question 3 - there is an option within the Android Auto settings on your phone (usually listed under your phone's general settings) to control whether AA starts automatically when it connects to the car. The setting to look for is "Start Android Auto automatically". Might be worth taking a look at the selected option under there and change it if necessary.
  14. No problem with Android Auto (running Coolwalk) in my NX. It could be related to your USB cable - maybe try a different one and see what happens. (NB. if you're using "wireless" Android Auto via a dongle don't forget that there is still a cable being used).
  15. There is indeed a mechanical override should the battery go flat. Instead of pushing on the handles with your thumb, there is a lever that you need to pull on twice to open the door. As an aside - I find the new fangled handles very intuitive and easy to get used to. In fact, I find myself trying to open doors in other cars the same way 🙄
  16. Excuse my ignorance here (or possibly naivety) but when talking about the difference between car manufacturing plants in Japan and other parts of the world, is it "just" the ability to construct a car from a multitude of component parts that we are comparing here? Am I right to assume that the majority of the parts that go into making a car are identical regardless of whether my NX, for example, was built in Japan or Canada (i.e. the parts are sourced from the same manufacturers)? And therefore the "only" difference is the skill, quality control standards and the extra attention to detail that Japanese car workers aspire to when putting all these parts together? Surely Lexus Japan and Lexus Canada share identical component parts. [I realise though that other aspects of the manufacturing process such as the quality of paint application; etc. can be specific to location and even individual workers\robots.] Anyway, from my point of view, it may or may not be a myth that Lexus cars built in Japan are put together better - but I'm glad that mine was built there.
  17. Shipping normally takes about 4 weeks. It then depends on how long they have the car at the Toyota \ Lexus preparation centre at Derby. My NX350h was there for another 4 weeks. So you may be looking at 8 weeks in total (probably worst case scenario).
  18. The look of the UI has changed slightly. In a nutshell, the display is now split into 2 "tiles" - a larger one for your navigation app (Google Maps; Waze; etc.) and a slightly smaller one for your music player (Spotify; YouTube Music; etc.). The music player tile now displays the album art more prominently (albeit with some "Material You" colouring embedded on top which I'd rather not have). On the right of the tiles you will find shortcuts to your most frequently used apps. You can also run Google Maps fullscreen. It's also easier to read and respond to WhatsApp messages; etc. Additionally, if you go into your Android Auto settings on your phone and see an option to enable "Taskbar widgets" then you have it. If you google "Coolwalk" you'll see loads of images of it and how to use it. Hope this helps.
  19. I agree. Would be nice to have this "hide" option extended to when Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is active. I very rarely use these particular climate settings so for me it's wasted screen real estate most of the time. Never gonna happen though 😔
  20. I see that they are also going to extend the highlight colours to more of the interior trim (glove box; door panels; etc.). I'd need to see this in reality but I'm not sure the interior needed any more of this (at least not in my chosen option of Black & Rich Cream).
  21. The reason I don't like Apple products is the fact that they "lock down" the entire operating system so that you can't make even small and trivial changes to how they function. Android products on the other hand are much more customisable (via the Settings or third party apps). I realise that this can potentially make them more vulnerable to malicious software and malware if you don't know what you're doing but you just need to be vigilant and use approved apps on the Google Play Store. For example, we bought an expensive iPad for my 4 year old grandson who likes to watch YouTube Kids. This app has an inbuilt volume slider that you can't disable through the app's settings (don't get me started on that! 😡). So guess what? The little blighter is always moving the slider to full volume, so it's a constant battle with him to get the volume down to more tolerable levels. There's also no way (as far as I could see) to set a maximum speaker volume through the iPad settings. So I thought I'd check the Apple app store to see if a third party app exists to do this but couldn't find a single one. So when it came to buying a second tablet for him to use at home, we went down the Android route (a Samsung) where there are numerous apps in the Play Store that allow you to restrict the volume - so no more "turn it down Adam!" 😄 I think Apple products are primarily for people who aren't necessarily techy and just want the device to work "straight out of the box" without any tinkering. I don't have an issue with that but for me I like the ability to make some tweaks to improve the user experience a bit more. I have to admit though that Apple products are on the whole more aesthetically pleasing.
  22. No dimming on my 1 year old NX350h. I agree with others about the effect of sunlight though - especially during these winter months when the sun is relatively low in the sky. I also find that the HUD is dimmer when I'm stuck in traffic behind a white high-sided vehicle like a van, which makes the "backdrop" bright and therefore the colour contrast with the HUD graphics is affected.
  23. Unfortunately the new NX does not currently support wireless Android Auto - at least not in the UK (possibly due to a licensing issue). It may be enabled in the future via an OTA software upgrade but there's been nothing from Lexus UK to suggest that's on the horizon. Myself and others on here have managed to get a flavour of wireless AA by purchasing the AAWireless dongle (as mentioned in this thread and in other threads on this forum).
  24. Just gave them a call and the guy I spoke to hadn't heard of this offering at all. He put me on hold for a few minutes while he checked with colleagues but the answer came back the same. All he could do was suggest that I speak to my local dealer about it - to which I explained that I believe it's a Lexus Insurance initiative rather than the dealers. Anyway, not wishing to labour the point, I left it there. C'est la vie.
  25. Hmmm.... that may be the case. I'll give them a call today and report back.
