  1. the council will use the advisory speed limit signs as a reason not to be held responsible, so steal them and hide them, and claim
  2. yeh I agree, lol, if someone is paying what the car says its using, then your right, he is in profit
  3. If you are doing less true miles, then your MPG is less, cos you are using the same amount of fuel that the car thinks you've travelled 100 miles on when u've only done 90? Cadey is correct I think
  4. i've seen that pic before, not a fan of the rally look inset wheels, is there a reason you only want 17's on it?
  5. can't please everyone :P
  6. Garage rang me an hour after I dropped the car off as Lexus forgot to give me an air filter, when I checked my invoice, I had indeed paid for one, so they have had an extra £35 out of me too :tsktsk: i'll be having words with them monday! My mistake, the air filter on the invoice at £35 was the Pollen filter, which I did receive, the air filter was £18 and they hadn't charged me for it never mind supplied it, so they've given me that now (not free :() but at least I don't feel ripped off :D
  7. with regards the IK20 I asked If the fitment was universal as the listing states Honda Acura in the title, this was the sellers response: I assume he IS saying they are universal, but doesn't actually know what universal means...
  8. Ok, we thought it would be funny to see who would fall for it, it being my brother and a mate pretending to pee up against the wall in a bar infront of everyone, in Walkabout more people noticed and were easily convinced but the lighting wasn't good enough to film, Danny was on his own in Walkabout and one young girl screamed and two bouncers were soon there to drag him out with both arms twisted up his back, our night promptly ended...
  9. Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! back by demand
  10. Had the service done today (sorry Dave I couldn't get hold of you in time to have Lexus Bolton do it on the cheap) water pump is fine so I'll get my £100 back :D so the total 60k service including cambelt, tensioners, aux belts, labour etc, came to £500 which includes the plugs that I haven't bought yet i'm happy with that, my bank account isn't, but I am
  11. Water pump? I have bugger all knowledge of the workings of an engine, basically, if my water pump is faulty/leaking, how would I know without stripping the engine to check the pump itself?
  12. careful you don't scuff these on our lovely roads too J ;) Can you get any blue-er?
  13. in my opinion £5k is a very good price if you can get it for that, especially if the inside is as good condition as you say the outside is, if its hpi clear and everythin works, and u've checked everything that this forum advises you to look for (ball joints, even tyre wear, cd player errors) bear in mind your 60k service advises the cambelt, plugs and possibly water pump while they're at it, its an expensive service, £6k to me would definately be worth considering...
  14. our local scarlatti red IS200 owner has just replaced her standard grille for a sport one, but its in black, not sure whether I like it
  15. Mines due in at Brabbs friday and i've told them i'm supplying the parts, but I only get paid tomorrow so I haven't bought anything yet, can they do a service including timing belt etc for less than £500?
  16. even if it means me being there while they check it
  17. I'm gonna buy one anyway and trust the garage to tell me honestly if it doesn't need changing, so I can get my £100+ quid back off Lex
  18. cool, positive first response, also, roughly how long does a water pump normally last? The garage i'm using is called Brabbs Motor Works and they are a BMW specialist, has anyone from NW taken their car (regardless of make) to this garage and did they do a good job?
  19. Is it really that easy? I thought it was much harder?
  20. I've been to Lexus Bolton today and they gave me a price list for the parts for the 60k service, it is booked in for Friday (not at Lexus) Can anyone tell me if any of the following is not needed, or if I can get a cheaper alternative for any of the parts? OIL FILTER £7.39 GSKT DRAIN PLUG £0.78 AIR FILTER £33.92 BRAKE FLUID £5.25 TIMING BELT £26.08 TENSIONER £45 AUX BELT x3 £36 These prices don't include VAT, and i've been told I'll get 10% off for bein a LOC member, and the garage who is carrying out the service has told me they would only get the parts for the same price as me and they have told me that labour will be £35 per hour + VAT and work will take 5 hours approx, compared to Lexus wanting £95ph
  21. FLSH isn't as important as the car gets older, theres plenty of competent garages that can save you a packet, 415 is from my local BMW specialist garage, as recommended by the guys I bought my car off, cos mines 7 yrs old
  22. I'm still after a set of cream ones but i'm in no rush, Lexus Bolton told me £60
  23. thanks for the help, I asked for the expenses, they said no, I said I wasn't willing to travel, they didn't even kick up a fuss
