  1. It just kinda says it all doesn't it?
  2. I know, jealousy is a cruel mistress ( I should know, I dated her sister lol!)
  3. Hi guys. I happened across this t-shirt design today and I think it's brilliant! What do you think? Keith
  4. why not just suggest he buys an M3 ?? Because when you drive an M3, other drivers don't like you very much. Trust me on this one! Keith
  5. Has anyone used the Bosch flat blades you can get from Halfrauds? The ones with no metal supports? What are they like? Keith
  6. Yes £205 is right. The car is in the maximum CO2 band which is £205. Keith
  7. Oh wish I was there so much. Work gets in the way far too much for my liking. Not sure on the Jazz though? Keith
  8. My information that I was given on remapping the ECU is that it can be done but doesn't make any difference. I think a standard clutch will take 220bhp but there is absolutely no way you'll get that amount of power with a normally aspirated engine, none, zero, zilch, zip. You may get 170 or a little more at a push. Keith
  9. Ok, I know this is me being really anal but has anyone else noticed on that new Mondeo advert with all the cars with the balloons floating, it shows you a quick shot inside a car. The interior looks suspiciously like an IS to me. Am I mistaken? If not, how very dare they! Saying a Mundano is better than a Lexus? Keith
  10. Hi kids. Ok, if this suggestion has already been posted on this thread I apologise but I only skim-read it. For those coming to the NW meet from the south, hows about a little convoy starting from Stafford services on M6? Let me know if you're up for it. Just make sure the ones with superchargers take pity on us standard-car drivers. Particularly my auto - the big blue slug as it's affectionatley known lol! Keith
  11. You're welcome matey, anytime. You only have to check all the posts on the mintex stuff to see it's a popular choice - I'm going for it myself soon when I have disposable income! No excuses for not having pics lol!!!! Make sure you bring the car to a meet. The NW meet in August is going to be huge so keep it in mind. Keith
  12. Chris, Seen your garage pics. That wood dash kit, where is it from? Looks nice. I'm interested in acquiring one, but it must look good, not tacky. Keith
  13. If it me being daft, but why buy a C-class Mercedes because it looks like a Lexus? Why not just buy a Lexus? Have I missed the point somewhere?
  14. I bought my 20k 2005 mint condition car from a main Lexus dealership for £12300 in April and I've had a couple of trade in valuations recently which are coming in around £8000 which they can go and shove somewhere that I don't care to mention. Just as fidgits says depreciation is part of car ownership and there's not much you can do about it. Unfortunatly with all the climat change and the greenpeace and environmental protesters people are becoming more green and a car that does 20mpg pootling around town and puts out best part of 230 carbon dioxides people just aren't interested. My advice, stick a 9v battery in the engine and call it a hybrid. Hippie-types and green-conscious suburban mums will be coming in droves to buy it. With cars you're going to lose money period. The question is how much and how quickly. Keith
  15. Hi Luke. Welcome to LOC and congratulations on your wise purchase. I'm no expert on lowering kits, apparently the Tein kits are very good but someone else is better to advise you on this. As for brakes, few options. A popular setup on here is the Mintex pads with standard discs or Mintex pads with Mintex discs - quite cheap on ebay - around £110 for a set of 2 discs and pads. The redstuff and greenstuff pads have got their fans but they also have a healthy amount of people who don't like them for various reasons. Black diamond stuff is very good. If it was me, I'd go with the Mintex pads and discs - there is much less brake dust and increased stopping power all at a decent price too. If you wanted just pads, the Mintex ones work very well with the OEM discs - although the consensus on here is that at around £60 for pads and £110 for discs too it makes economical sense to buy the lot. Just pop in a wee search on the forum for 'pads' or similar and you'll get a whole load of posts that should come in handy. K&N is a good buy for induction purposes, couple it to a performance exhaust (again I'm not the one to advise on the best) and you'll get an increased bhp. Consider changing your spark plugs for some Denso IK20's they're good plugs and increase power slightly. Websites: www.prolex-uk.com, www.wheelsinmotion.co.uk, www.lextasy.com, fleabay is good too for discs, pads, induction kits and other bits and bobs Go to see Dr Tony Bones at wheels in motion in Hemel Hempstead to get your geometry sorted properly - a lot of us have been and the difference it makes to your car's handling and feel is huge. This should be on your top priorities list - you will not regret it. Consider new tyres, Goodyear Eagle F1's are just brilliant. We all like photos so get some snaps of your car on asap. Welcome to the club, keep the posts coming. Keith
  16. Right kids, Time is getting on now and this date is getting forever closer. Decision time as to whether we are going ahead with this meeting. Long Eaton will be ok, as long as people turn up. Final thoughts please... Keith
  17. Consider alternatives. The Cannon mats are very good and a lot more hard-wearing than the Lexus ones (or so I'm told - I still have Lexus ones). £40 for a set of 4. Maybe worth a look? Has anyone got these mats and can offer input because I'm interested in new mats too. Keith
  18. That's a nice automobile. A very clean example by the looks of it. A most capacious boot too. You'll enjoy owning it
  19. That looks absolutely ridiculous. I'd be ashamed to be seen in it. I don't like any bodykit on any car. Manufacturers spend millions of pounds and thousands of hours on research and development making the car look nice - I just don't think that some guy (or girl) in his (or her - see, totally politically correct) garage with a budget of £250, a spare Saturday and a can of spray paint can make the car look any better sticking bits of plastic on it. Ok I'm not saying manufacturers always get it right, sometimes a complete dog does slip through the net (Kia Rio, Cityrover, Ssangyong Rodius - possibly the ugliest car in existence, Daihatsu Sirion and so on) but the Lexus is a gorgeous car so please leave it alone! When you modify a car you modify it to your tastes. When you come to sell the car it's going to be much harder to sell because most people don't want a car that's been the subject of someones misguided attemps at improving it. Let's put it this way, two men in a bar, one wearing a Hawaiian shirt, totally inebriated, loud and gobby. The other smart, well dressed, civilised and classy. Which one gets the girl? James Bond every time I'm afraid. And thus the voice of reason has spoken! I do realise my opinions on car modifying are likely to cause some people to disagree therefore I look forward to the replies lol!
  20. Go and see Dr Bones at wheels in motion. Once the the geometry is set properly the car is much more planted at high speed. Best money you can spend on your car by miles. Keith
  21. Hey buddy. You go to www.imageshack.us, upload your file there and when you get the page with all the links on you copy one of the links, load up the LOC site and when you're creating a post one of the little buttons above the test says insert image, you simply paste the link in there and when you post the thread, abracadabra the image appears. Glad you like your car. Keith
  22. Do not use an FM modulator. I used one in my old Celica and it was junk. The sound quality was no better than a half-decent radio station and it had a lot of interference. I know a lot of people who have tried this and they all say the same. Don't do it. Keith Oh and the modulator I was using wasn't some ebay cheapo thing it was a Belkin £50 odd thing
  23. I agree, spoilers and IS's don't mix but that one's actually alright. It looks quite good actually. Computer says yes. Keith
  24. Looking good there. I did mine last week on my Antimony IS - Black with white lettering - I haven't taken a photo of them because the wheels are filthy at the moment. Recommend anyone to paint the calipers, makes a big difference and so easy to do. Keith
