  1. Thanks for the replies gents.....just been to let off some steam and clear my head at Karate ;o)) I would have driven back tonight when prob first started - but I'd collected the car just as they were closing - so knew there would be no point. I'll try and call them tomorrow morning incase they are open and see what they say. If not, then not a problem waiting until Monday as had planned the weekend at home anyway. Chris - Garage is in Nuneaton - I'm not working in Stoke anymore - I've used them a few times before for my previous cars and the wifes. Several people at work also use them and they have got a good reputation locally. If it is an air leak - will it do any damage driving (assuming it will drive ok) 40 miles? Thanks again...
  2. Took my car to a garage close to work today for its service and to replace a VSV for the ACIS - after I got a P1651 diagnostic code a few weeks ago. Car was running fine under normal driving - just gave the fault when the ACIS was supposed to kick in at ~4800 revs - so I hadnt rushed to get it done. Valve isnt easy to get at - and you have to take the manifold off to get to it. Collected the car this evening - All seemed ok when I collected - But about 20 miles down the road I stopped at a junction - and felt the car judder a bit - similar to a missfire - every couple of seconds. Carried on - car seems to drive ok when your moving (although there does seem to be a slight delay (like turbo lag) when I give it a bit of throttle - Its not so responsive. Few more junctions and similar happens at all - only seems to be getting worse. 40 miles later, I pulled onto my drive - Car now shaking and the revs wobbling about all over the place between 400 and 1100 - Sometimes sounds like its about to stall - then manages to recover. Lifted the bonnet and and the engine is shaking about all over the place. No MIL light on (which surprises me) - Any thoughts what the problem could be? Air leak somewhere? - Manifold gasket not sealed? With the garage 40 miles away from home - its not just a matter of popping there with it - luckily dont need to do any driving at the weekend so can wait until Monday when I go to work - Just hoping the car will get me there ok. Seems to be one thing after another at the moment - Not sure how much longer I can put up with probs - Hopefully its not a new problem and something the garage has done wrong.....but if it is....think its time to get rid as I seem to be jinxed with Lexi (what is the plural of lexus ;-) LS wrote off (I was lucky not to have been killed) after losing control due to a diesel spillage on a corner - and my GS seems to be one thing after the next. With fuel costs soaring and the government trying to do everything they can to take us back to the dark ages where everyone walked everywhere this is just another nail in the coffin..... I do 400 miles a week just to get to work and back....need something that isnt jinxed :o((( Edit: To top this off - Ive posted in the LS section iso the GS section - Could a mod pls move for me?
  3. Its not them being bold or brave - in fact - quite the opposite During the night - most people are in the house - but during the day - most honest people are out trying to earn a living. Less chance of them receiving a whack from a wheel wrench if they do it during the day. PS - Good job on foiling them...
  4. Hmmm...was thinking more of the type in the title ;-)
  5. anyone else had a letter like me ?
  6. 2 beeps- opens windows and unlocks car Keep lock button held down still for a bit longer after the beep- windows and roof should close and vehicle will be locked. Press lock again within 5 secs and car will be double locked
  7. Nuneaton road on way to Mancetter- about 4:30 today. Right behind cop van that appeared to be pulling certain people in.
  8. 1) Hold down the Lock (to close windows/roof) or open (to open windows/roof) on your remote for about 5 seconds - hold until they are open/closed by the amount you want 2) So you can move the Gear stick away from Park without starting the Engine - particularly useful in breakdown/tow situations
  9. Wrong. However it can only be exclusive to a Network provider for 6 months. So after which time Apple must supply the handset for alternative carriers. I.e Pay as you go/Unlocked. If you need any help on unlocking the iPhone, i've unlocked several now please PM me. Their is safe software out their that unlocks the iPhone without the risk of permanently damaging the phone as it patches the existing backed up software and creates its own firmware. Also gives you the option of just unlock, just jail break or both. I would stay away from Ziphone to be honest... PM me... Not had a single prob using ziphone - no bricked phones or wifi issues. The only people slating him are the dev team- pods the usual hackers banter. Although have to admit they seem to have jumped ahead in releasing a jailbreak for fw 2.0 and above.
  10. Who is saying it changes things that cannot be reverted and what are these things? You can always put the phone in DFU mode and re-image....just like any other computer.
  11. He was a 14 year old boy that possibly had his mind elsewhere and made a huge mistake. Yes he should have known better and used the crossing - but we all make mistakes from time to time - especially hormonal 14 year old boys. He nearly paid the greatest price for his mistake and IMHO no child "deserves" to get run over by a bus.
  12. From that response I can only assume you do not have children of your own.
  13. I can understand all of your points - and it would be totally unfair if the driver was punished in any way whatsoever. However, if you look at the clip closely - It appears that the child was actually being chased by the other kids behind him - and was poss trying to escape. He also appears to "trip" on the railings and fall infront of the bus by accident - rather than just attempt to cross the road without looking. The fact is - we dont know the circumstances - so should perhaps not be too critical of the child in this instance.
  14. I'm no electrician but sounds like possible short somewhere - which is perhaps why you had to replace your old battery too......or alternator is broke....
  15. You have the choice as to whether you "upgrade" or not - iTunes asks you - doesnt force you.....so I always wait until you see feedback on websites as to whether it "unjailbreaks" the phone
  16. Slightly but what happens on the Multicar policy if one of you has a claim - does it affect the NCB of the other drivers?
  17. Excellent - For reference though - The software you mention does not UNLOCK a iPhone 3G - at this moment in time - no-one has released such software. So you'll still need to use 02 I'm afraid....
  18. You cant beat these cheap fixes :winky: As for the battery - I bet you dont get a cup of Coffee with that though do you :winky:
  19. #3 :D In the 16 months Ive owned mine - I've only ever seen 1 other on the road - which scarily was the next registered car to my original (nearly the same reg but next number)
  20. Strange...but driving on the m6 toll when it's raining I definitely think it hold more water than say the m6. Also, in the winter if it's icy or snows - the outside lane of the toll road is completely unusable as it goes like an ice rink - assumed was due to held water freezing. Suppose it's either been built poorly or not the new stuff
  21. That's brilliant, the aristo's the rich old guy with the blonde 20 yr old trophy wife :D Hopefully I'll be driving an Aristo when I'm older then .....
