  1. hi miq, boot release switch does not work when engine running, mines the same, safety feature prob lol My bumper trims the same to, ive trimmed off the broken bits to make them look ok ish . will have to price new from the main stealers i think steve.
  2. Hi guys, if i park my ls facing down a hill when raining or washing, water collects on both front corners of the boot drainage channels as it cant run away, Ive lifted the plastic trim and there is no drainage holes under it to allow water to leave. i Find it hard to believe lexus missed this. My drive has a small slope on it so if i suspect rain or want to clean it i have to park facing upwards which is not always convienient. I would not want to leave it parked for several days with a pool of water just sitting there, It just seems like poor design (hard to think i know_) Has anyone else experienced this collecting of water ? cheers steve.
  3. Why is rain made so NOISY !!! ..... it spoils the silent drive. my back and side windows seem ok but the front is really noisy. Can anyone help... does my winscreen need replacing or is it a rain fault lol. Wont be going out in the rain again until ive fixed this now lol. cheers (i am joking !!!,,, its a pity lexus dont make rain theyd have made it silent)
  4. hi oracle, what year is your ls, my 95 has a boot lockout button below the steering coloum on the right hand side, may be worth a check.
  5. hi, just had my rear upper ball joints done, £404 all in and i believe garage uses o/e parts, its a big job because they had to remove the drive shafts to get to some of the bolts, so not to bad a price .station view garage / plymouth. not home at mo, bit can get their number if you need it steve
  6. hi steve , thanks will check out seat, also car had phone fitted at some point but not now so will have a look round rr seat to see if thats a possible, thanks m8.
  7. Ive now had chance to check out the door speaker and all is connected and looks fine but am really stuck as to the location of the amp, is it possible its built into the head unit? or does anyone have a scooby where the amp may be? cheers steve
  8. thats correct, two supporting rests they should just rest on. when i bought my 95 the drivers wiper sat high and it was just a case of unscrewing the securing nut lifting the arm off the spindle and reseating a little lower. hope thast helps.
  9. Im afraid its the usual salvage yard story. while the cars there it gets treated like sh!te, probably side swiped by the trainee on a fork lift. Also they use the car as a parts bin and sold the wheels as well by the looks of it as two diff types are shown Buyer beware!!! the car my have a few xtra dings and parts missing by the time you get it. Shame for such a new lexus to look like this. steve
  10. hi guys, my weekend project is to fix the o/s rear door speakers as im getting no audio from them. Does anyone now where the amps located ? and how easy to remove rear door card ( i cant see any fixing screws and dont just want to rip it off ) i know its part held on by press studs. its gotta be a bad connection at the amp or speaker im guessing. thanks in advance streve
  11. yep 2 good points guys, i like it so will be using it when possible, so much better to keep constant steady speed than as you say constant accelerating and braking. Coming from a golf gti the ls has much improved my driving style, much smoother and more enjoyable now (and safer) thanks.
  12. This is my first car with cruise control. Used c/control for first time at weekend and found it made the trip even more relaxing. The question is at a steady 75 mph is it better to use it or not from a mpg point of view ??? May be a stupid question but like i said ive never had it before . thanks.
  13. hi guys, this was my post from ages ago when i was about to buy. Have since bought a very nice mk3 ls400 as chris can confirm (its a lot cleaner now chris as ive had a few weeks to tidy up lol ). I never test drove the gs but love my ls4. It is a bity of a land yacht as ive found out when trying to park, but i love it. Has great road presence and gets looks all the time as not a common car down here. Id recommend one to anyone. cheers steve.
  14. thanks guys yep aircon and demisting maks sense will have to check on hlight sensor 2moro thanks
  15. Hi guys, not had my mk3 long and still learning but this ones puzzling me. Below the windscreen on the passenger ,most fwd edge of dash is a small black knob, am afraid to push it incase it does something !!! Its not mentioned in the owners manual so am at a loss. There is a blank on the drivers side. also why does the aircon light come on when i use the heater !! i turn it off and still get heat. thanks steve
  16. cool mods, i can see me going down the lighting route, but wheels are gonna be pricey lol, no chance of the blue neon washers though, thats more of a taxi mod down here lol
  17. slightly off topic ... but.... are there any mods to the ls that are considered appropriate??? most people seem to run standard.
  18. hmm,,, looks like the bodykit was fitted professionally, but not my taste lol, prefer them as lexus intended. I have hard enough time getting a parking space for mine without the size of that bodykit on top !!!!!
  19. 941 is the magic number, thanks. Sorry Chris, 941 discontinued. That's what Lexus Croydon said. Any ideas where I can get this paint from any one ??? hi, some of the larger halfords branches mix paint in touch up or spray cans using the paint code number. (noy sure how good a match it will be but worth a try)
  20. probably does on gs front, i gota speak to him monday so il ask, well pleased with my work and they quote a price and stick to it, if a job takes them longer then they dont charge anymore which is good service. and they stampd my book.
  21. Hi guys Thought id let you know about a good garage for lexus service in plymouth, devon area Station View Garage , plymouth. Eddie is the man to speak to , lexus trained and certificates on wall. This guy knows all about ls400's. Just had mine serviced including 8x plugs air/fuel and oil filter and oil change, serviced rear brakes and had new front discs and pads fitted all in for £595. He checked whole car over and gave reports on any upcoming issues and just generally gave good customer srevice. Obviously an independant outfit but all original parts used with option to go non lexus if req, labour rate is £35 an hour which is half main stealer rates lol. hope it helps steve.
  22. Hi rick,,,Ive got the very same problem!, hopefully someone will have a solution ! cheers
  23. hi alanf, sweet m8 had mine a week and love it, never go ford again lol
  24. i agree !!! the maddest pair of speakers ive ever seen or heard ... truly sublime and to aspire to ( puts my bw's to shame)
