  1. Hi. the foot brake on the auto is supposed to ratchet - like any normal handbrake would.
  2. i'm 30 and my is250 was my semi-midlife crisis purchase LOL decided i was being far too sensible with an economic diesel saloon so cashed in all me savings, smiled sweetly at the bank manager, and now i have a massive smile on my face every time i floor it and watch the fuel guage drop - much better LOL
  3. i agree. i tried all that fuel saving stuff and could never get better than about 31mpg in my 250 se-l. so i decided to hell with it and this weekend i didn't think about it once during my round trip to an airshow - and hey ho, it hit 39mpg on the way home LOL
  4. well, i got the car back today, and the back bumper looks great. the front is much better, but they didn't respray it properly and some of the lower stone chips are still visible if you get close enough, but to be honest i really can't be bothered to fight anymore! i had to pay in £200 as it is. i spent a couple hours claying the car this afternoon, and i will finish it tomorrow with the sealant and then see how it looks. also, i had the centre dash out today and applied the 'phone, dvd, mp3' hack, and it works great! if you have MM then i really suggest you do it too as it is really easy and makes life so much better lol now all i need to do is buy the map update disc and i will be able to use the nav on the move too :)
  5. With all the complaints posted on the forum in this vein I could become quite dispirited because I've just committed my hard earned cash to buy a new SEI. However, I prefer to believe it's a positive point in favour of a car when the biggest problem owners report are trim rattles. Obviously those with the IS diesel have encountered more serious problems but, having ordered a 250 auto, I'm hoping to be soon enjoying the legendary trouble free Lexus experience or, at worst, nothing more troublesome than an odd rattle! i agree. my is200 did 120 000 miles before i swapped it and believe me i have never had such a reliable car. even my 250 has no mechanical problems and as you say, just has the odd rattle. i am sure you will absolutely love your SE-I and will never be able to drive anything else but lexus again, i know i won't LOL ;)
  6. i've been O2 for 6 years and i've never had a problem with their deals, service or signal. they always solve any issues or questions i have quickly and i wouldn't change to any other provider. i deal with them direct too so i don't have to deal with the likes of carphone warehouse or phones4U - been there and never again!
  7. hi. i have just been given a facelift 250 as a courtesy car while my front and rear bumpers are repainted and i have to say the rattles seem worse on this new one which has 3500 miles on the clock, than in my 55 plate se-l with 24000 miles. i can hear them coming from the doors, the dash, everywhere. the physical differences are mainly the centre air vents, and a couple of the switches on the doors for locking and unlocking are different. on the outside the only things i can see are the new rear lights and the indicators in the door mirrors and slightly different bumpers. you can also now use the paddles in 'D' but i couldn't test any MM features or anything else as this one is the bottom of the range version - no leather etc, and 16' wheels. all i can say is can't wait for mine to come home LOL. only had it a week and a bit and i already miss it but can't wait for the bumpers to look the way they should!!!
  8. Hi i just bought this Ipod Charger & Aux Inputa few days ago from halforda and it is fantastic! it pauses the ipod when you turn the engine off and charges it on the go. it also ups the volume level so you don't have to crank the stereo all the way up either and best of all it fits in the 12v socket in the arm rest without stopping it from closing. i basically just take the ipod out when i start the car and rest it on the console with some non slip matting and then close the arm rest and that way i can control the tunes etc but the cables etc are all hidden in the arm rest. it's a lot cheaper option than the intergration kit anyway and you don't have to worry about the ipod running flat :)
  9. Now i have a lexus again i am up for a meet to get to know people in the area. southampton is only half an hour away so put me down as well Jason :)
  10. thanks guys. i spoke to the sales manager who has already ordered replacement locking wheel nuts and also checked the register and guaranteed that the car was not in a shunt but may have needed cosmetic work at some point and they will have a look and respray the bumpers. the car itself is great so as long as they can get it looking like it should i will be happy. will keep the updates coming LOL
  11. well it's all gone horribly wrong!!! i was cleaning the car for the first time today and noticed that one of the locking wheel nuts was missing!!!! so i've been driving around with only 4 wheel studs for three days so far. that was bad enough, then i noticed that the front and rear bumpers didn't look right so i checked closely and felt overspray and the colour wasn't quite matched properly so now i'm convinced that the car has been in a shunt and the repair job was horrendous!!!! Luckily i got a 30 day no quibble return guarantee so first thing tomorrow i am taking it back to swap it for a different car. will keep you all posted J
  12. it's a 55 plate with 23500 miles on the clock (i would have loved a brand new one but 19k was my limit LOL), and the reason i chose it over the other se-l's on offer was the fact that the interior was in such good condition (although i did spend 5 hours on cleaning and detailing it when i got home which also makes it look a bit better ). the only work it needed was the wheels refurbing which is normal for lexus and the dealer did this before i took delivery, and there is a bit of road rash on the front bumper which i will have done as soon as my bank account recovers from the purchase LOL
  13. Well, here she is... got to say i love the lexus customer service! car was in a special delivery room, we were greeted by the whole team and taken to the room where i signed for the car and got a cleaning kit and mom (who drove me there) got a box of chocolates. all very classy and i'm so glad i decided to buy from a dealer. i even prepaid my services so it's even going to be easy to budget for those too! I'M IN LOVE!!!! Forgive the pose - i felt like a burk standing there LOL http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee193/w...sa/DSC00083.jpg and the best of all??? 40.8mpg on the trip home with a mixture of town, motorway and country roads!!!! i'm waiting for it to fly and then it really does do everything :winky: J
  14. Hi All after a year of exile since i traded my IS200 in for a french 407, i decided that i just couldn't live without a lexus in my life and so take delivery of my IS250 SE-L Auto tomorrow morning!!!! Bo***cks to the higher running costs, it's only money right? might have to take a sleeping pill cause i just don't see myself sleeping tonight LOL. Jason
  15. Bet you anything you like the FAT B******ds still keep their huge jags and range rovers and use our tax money to pay for them!!! Gordon Brown should be forced to squeeze his lard A** into a PRIUS!!!!!!! me? Bitter? Noooooooooooo...
  16. sad to say , but i can no longer afford to drive my IS 200 and it has to go on Monday! bye bye baby, hello Peugeot 407 diesel!!!! at least it has full house (till the electrics go i'm sure!) and the running costs are a fraction of the lexus's. it's a matter of wallet over heart unfortunately but what really hurts is i had all four alloys refurbed in January! it's been swell being part of this great community, and thanks all of you who i met at the meets. So Long
