  1. OMG! I remember them! :o :o If you didn't have something Humphrey at school you was nobody. Just like if you didn't have those Star Wars cards (I think they came with bubble gum or something) you had to throw at the wall and try and win off your mates, and trump cards, and ...
  2. You mean you don't! :o Doh! :iraqi-info-minister:
  3. *sigh* wish this was so. My wife would have stopped about 7 years ago :) I used to believe that I had special powers and that I had to complete tasks otherwise the witches would get me, for example getting through the gate before the red car coming down the road overtook me :) Thankfully 10 years in a psychiatric ward and copious amounts of councelling has taught me that my special powers will always prevent the witches getting me so I know longer have to complete these tasks
  4. Speak as you find they say... I am thoroughly disgusted with the level of customer service received from the three dealerships I have been in contact with. Sure, they're great when you're sending a car in for a service or buying something expensive, but you try getting normal, everyday customer service, you are urinating in the wind! Reading: (not serious enough to submit a negative review for) Have failed to return calls and respond to email question regarding Navigator disk Nottignham: (review submitted) Failed to send Navigator manual for 6 weeks Still waiting for the RAC membership details and card which is part of the sales agreement Failed to inform Lexus finance of any details regarding the purchase of the car, resulting in Lexus Finance calling us to find out who the sales person was, the car details, dates, etc. (Lexus Finance were very apologetic and informed me that Nottingham had pretty much not ocmpleted any paperwork). Oxford (review on its way): Took £300 2 months ago for an updated Navigator disk, since which: They have failed to send disk at first because they "didn't have your address", even though they had our phone number and could have called for it (and they had been given the address) After receiving the address the disk still has not turned up 6 weeks later They repeatedly inform me a disk has been sent (twice) but cannot provide the Recorded Delivery tracking number! Craig fails to return every call (James is a better) In accordance with my Statutory Rights (goods not being delivered within 30 days) I have requested a full refund - to date they failed to recredit my card despite repeated requests, and promises to, for over a week now, and have this morning been reported to the Office of Fair Trading and Lexus GB. "The Lexus Experience"? Hmm..I'm not sure this is something they should be shouting about! The car, however, is the Mutt's Nuts!
  5. *phnarr phnarr, fweep pip* ;) ;) Have you tried the following (I usually find one of them works): - screwdriver - builder's jemmy bar - builder's jemmy bar with builder still attached - semtex What does the Manual recommend?
  6. Ok, I hereby rename (by deed poll) the small front white lights on my car to: 'Light your car up like a Christmas Tree' lights Problem solved. :D
  7. Good point. Except that don't your headlights glow just as brightly as your front fogs? I don't really think they make you more visible from the front. The rear fogs are a different kettle of fish. They are physically brighter than ordinary tail lights and as such do make you more visible. It's just a shame that some people think rear fogs lights should be left on all the time!!!! This are the people that annoy me. Front fogs never really bother me too much, although I agree they are oft misused.
  8. I find that front fogs do diddly squat in fog, in all honesty. You perhaps get marginal, and that's at best, improvement over not having them on.
  9. Djanderso, That's an optional extra, which if I had purchased from new I would have plumped for. Stevie, I hear ya. It's been on my mind for some time now. The ones that come fitted are dreadful. In some music you can sometimes hear a type of faint beep occurring intermittently. Very odd. It really lets down an otherwise damn near perfect car (imho).
  10. In all fairness I just brought the incident to the attention of the Information Commissioner (http://www.dataprotection.gov.uk/). They did the rest and just kept me informed of progress. :)
  11. The problem is that the Lexus has a clear coat painted finish. I was always under the impression that you should never use a T-cut type paste on clear coat paints. Is the Meguiars Scratch X compatible with clear coat paint finishes?
  12. I don't believe any amount of tinkering will make the radio sound decent in the GS. To be honest, I'm not all that impressed with the sound system that comes with the GS at all. I quite like my music and have spent a fortune in my home system, shame I can't get the same from the GS. Also, because the stereo is so integrated you can't really change it for something different. :(
  13. I wanted to know how to remove the logos on my 2000 GS430 and replace them with the Black Pearl emblems available from Midas. Looks like a very dodgy job to me and I had visions of damaging the paintwork so I left it in the end. If you find a way of doing it then I'm all ears.
  14. When signing up for forums, services, etc on the Net I always use the domain name of that company/organisation, as the first part of my email addy. E.g. lexusownersclub.co.uk@mydomain.com This way I have been able to track those unscrupulous organisations who have sold my email address on, even when requested not to. As such, I successfully brought a case against a well known online computer parts company last year and won it. :) This obviously only works if you own your own domain name. Another useful tip is to submit any spam emails to this site: www.spamcop.com I'd just like to point out that I have never received any spam mail as a result of being a member here, and am completely certain I never will :)
  15. 42780 So, must remember to drink J2O when I'm on the razzle.....yeah right :)
  16. Thanks for the comments. I'm obviously gutted about the car but, as you rightly say, no one was injured and that's the main thing. Just find it hard to believe that I did something sooo stupid after all these years. What a muppet!
  17. ...my car into the back of a Vectra. :( First accident in years and years, averaging around 15-20K miles per annum. Not going to make any excuses, this was my fault. This should cost the insurers a pretty penny (new bonnet), not too mention what it will do to my premiums. Feel pretty miffed about it as you can imagine, but just putting it down to one of life's experiences. Feel free to make liberal use of the emoticon :)
  18. On my 2000 GS430 there is a single wipe option activated by pulling the stalk towards you. It is labelled "Mist". As for the Auto lights setting. I have this on my non-import as well. I would say excercise caution when using this setting. It generally works really well although totally fails to detect fog (unsurprisingly as it is simply detecting ambient light), and therefore does not switch on the lights during foggy conditions. The dome sensors on the dash are shown in my manual as being the ambient light sensors (to auto dim the dash, switch on lights, change Sat Nav background colour, etc). Hope this helps.
  19. There are two types of keys, Master and Sub (which doesn't allow remote opening of the boot, or unlocking of the glove compartment). The manual states that you need both the Master key and and the key number for a new key to be made. Also, it mentions that there are a maximum number of replication keys that can be made. I assume this will be because of some Key addressing limitation in the immobiliser chip. It fails to mention what the maximum number is. I would expect a new Master Key would be quite expensive (circa £120) Perhaps any of the dealers floating around these boards can better clarify.
  20. You mean like the tax disc, which can't be purchased without valid insurance anyway? ;)
  21. During the last Gulf War I was with the 11 Armoured Workshops (which became part of the 7th Armoured Brigade). I was a "Pack Rat" which bascially meant I spent my time repairing heavy armoured vehicles (Challenger MkI's mainly). I know the feeling of going into a war zone. You become almost detached from yourself. Very strange sensation. I don't mind admitting that I was very apprehensive before I went out. Once there though you just seem to accept that you are there to do a job and the butterflies just disappear. As it happened the ground war was little more than a formality last time and the worst thing I encountered was driving past an Iraqi convoy which had just been visited by a couple of A10's not a few hours earlier. A real eye opener I can tell you. Anyway, whether it's right or wrong no longer matters to me. Once British troops are involved then I care not anymore. I think only of them, their families and loved ones. They do an absolutely superb job and we should all be proud of them. Don't blame them for the politics that got them there. I wish you all the best Mat and I'll shout you a beer when we meet :)
  22. Um..and what happens when your MOT (or insurance) runs out? Do they come along and remove the stickers :P Unless you are going to have stickers the size of Tax discs then the Police will probably still need to stop you to see if the date has expired.
  23. Thanks for the explanations. I'll leave it as it is then too.
  24. Two questions. 1) Why do my projects show up as SmallPox projects and not Cancer ones? 2) I assume that when I sign up an additional PC its WU totals are added the LOC team?
  25. I feel quite strongly about Cancer research. I have lost some very good friends and a pet to it's vile clutches. I donate to Cancer Research monthly. Not much, but enough to at least make me feel I am doing something. Sadly, I believe that at some stage of our lives, each and everyone of us will be affected by Cancer in some way, either indirectly or directly. This is one of the most honourable causes to help with and I for one will do all I can. I've just signed up my work PC, and will do the same when I get home this evening.
