  1. I'm averaging around 23mpg. I love watching the real-time dispay when you floor the accelerator....drops to 2.6mpg (I swear I can hear someone in the back bailing the fuel out of the tank and straight into the cylinders). Years ago I owned a Rover 220 Turbo Coupe, even that had better fuel economy than my GS430 (just). Wouldn't swap my GS430 though for anything though.
  2. I'm interested in this as well. Croydon, Thruxton, doesn't matter a hoot to me. I'm easy ;)
  3. I haven't managed to average over 23mpg in the 430 yet. I don't race (usually) and also most of my journeys are motorway and long country road stretches (not too much town driving).
  4. I doubt for one minute you would have any problem whatsoever. However, if you are concerned then simply retain your vehicle log book. As they say on the radio adverts: "A car's not legit without it!"
  5. OMG! I thought of a pencil case and it guessed it in 19 questions! Here are the answers I entered (start from the bottom)
  6. I too love the colour. Looks great, hope you enjoy it (which I am sure you will).
  7. Out of interest. Where are the interior sensors located in a GS?
  8. Yay! I've got the Bridgestone's too. Can you remember what price you got for those? Headley Tyres (near Newbury) are quoting me £99.95 + VAT for the tyre and £124.55 including valve and balancing.
  9. Tx Nick. Appreciate the feedback, especially regarding the GS430 vs. CD Navigation. I think I have finally sorted the whole issue out now, I should be picking up the new disc this Saturday.
  10. Remember years ago you used to be able to get those earthing straps which you hung underneath your vehicle? Not sure if they are still around, they also look a bit pants.
  11. Strange....seems the forum doesn't like the word g..o..d
  12. Typed in "slightly mad lexus enthusiasts" into the DVD Navigator. Up popped this URI on the screen ;) *sigh* Okay then, the great google *** really.
  13. I have been quoted £274.46 inc VAT with the 10% discount. I'm quite happy to pay that to be honest (am I a bit simple?) :)
  14. One last point which may be of interest to those with the CD based navigation. In the throws of my research into my problem I had the following information communicated to me by the Lexus Contact Centre (lexusinfo@lexuscontactcentre.co.uk) So, if any of you do pan to travel to Eruope you can get a free rental CD Navigator disc for your journey/holiday. Hope this proves to helpful. Apologies if you already knew this.
  15. First of all, thanks for all the help and suggestion guys. You really are the Mutt's Nuts. With sinking heart I went to the car to check if I had the CD version or not. Guess what? It's the DVD version as I was able to enter an old address I lived at in Germany :) Therefore I guess it must be the DVD version :D Also, I spoke with Lexus ********* who have confirmed that there was a new release of the DVD last September or so and that I have the old version. They also have one in stock and will hold it for me until the weekend. Also, they will apply a 10% Gold Member discount - wohoo
  16. I don't have the "DVD" option on the Main Menu screen, that is one of the missing options. I have been speaking with James (Centre Manager) and John Blanchard. Perhaps I should have a chat with Mark. I assume it's Mark Hart you are referring to?
  17. Thanks for the email addy. I'll send them an email and see if they can throw some light on the issue.
  18. Cool! That'll save me some dosh then until you let us know how you get on :P
  19. Yep, definitely DVD version. The disc even has DVD written on it and the sales blurb for the car also stated DVD Navigation and it comes in a black case with gold lettering which reads "Lexus DVD Navigation System version 1.01".
  20. Okay, here's the story. I purchased a second-hand GS430, a 2000 model. In it I have the DVD Navigator but no manual. The dealer takes a manual from another GS430 sitting in the park and gives it me. So far, so good. I get home and start reading the manual and start noticing that it references a lot more functionality than I have on mine. Example of missing functionality from my disc are: - no adaptive volume option on the audio (navigator voice) screen - route calcuations return only the 'quick' and 'short' routes, not the 'alternative' rout option shown in my manual - various buttons are in different places from where they are shown in the manual - Main Menu screen is missing "Suspend Guidance", "Edit Route", "Route Preview" "Set Up" "Screen Configuration" and "DVD" options (I think some of these appear in different places on my version) - No Maintenance menu - No Calendar menu (for memos) - a ton of other functionality missing. "Okay" I thought. "I guess I simply need an updated version of the disc". So, I spoke first with Lexus Reading (my local dealership). The Lexus Centre Manager informed me that only one version of the disc has ever been released, although they are expecting a new version to emerge around April this year. By now I am totally confused. Why is my DVD different from the manual, and apparently, other GS300/430 discs? I can think of only one of two reasons: 1) I do have an outdated DVD (looking increasingly unlikely) 2) The DVD I have been given is from a different model (perhaps the IS range) Just a point to note. Before the car was handed over the Sales guy in Nottingham (where I got it from) swapped the DVD disc over as the original one in the car was 'skipping'. I am starting to think that he put the wrong disc in. Appreciate any comments or thoughts on this problem. Thanks
  21. Anyone tried this: http://www.caraudioplus.co.uk/acatalog/Par...ng_Sensors.html If so, how effective was/is it and how do you connect it so that it only works when reverse is selected (in a GS430)?
  22. Do Lexus sell an economical right-foot? Where'd you get yours from? :P
  23. 20 mpg would appear to me to be a bit on the low side. I have a GS430 and get around that mark myself. It is the only blip on an otherwise fantastic motor. I knew before I bought that it would drink fuel but this is not really too much of an issue for me. I can't imagine how you will be satisfied with any other car if you do have to let your GS go. In any case, good luck with the decision-making.
