  1. I'm off too. To Lapland, skiing. Sadly, I'll miss the Spring Meet :( , but I'll be at the next one. :)
  2. I really am not keen that much on the MkI design, I don't like the front that much although the rear is okay. MkII but then I'm biased too :D
  3. If you get them done when you get your tyres replaced then Headley tyres (in Berkshire) will do a free check and charge around £7 to align them (again, it's optical alignment). It's not actually that much work for them to do.
  4. Is this IS's only? I have a GS, 52K miles, 2 years 2months old, and the calipers look awful. It was one of things I have noticed recently. Frankly, I am not looking for them to be replaced if they would offer to paint and sticker them for free.
  5. <--- Hates java applets on web pages
  6. This can also be due to the clutch not fully disengaging and can be a sign of a worn release bearing. It could be a sign of a worn synchromesh baulking ring inside the gearbox, but I would be surprised if that was the case. These sort of problems are not really diagnosable remotely. I think taking it to the dealer for a check-up is the wisest move. I wouldn't accept from the dealer that the gears are meant to be notchy. If you are strugging to engage a gear then you are forcing metal against metal somewhere, and that isn't good no matter which way you cut it.
  7. I can confirm that that is the latest version as I just purchased the updated version only last week. At the time the Lexus GB guy was at the dealership and informed us all that the new DVD disc had ony been out for a couple of days, as such the dealer did not have the part number so he [Lexus GB] phoned HQ and ordered it for the dealer. It arrived the next day and had 2002 version 1 on the disc.
  8. Diet paid off then! Thanks for the info, I have mine set to around 34psi all round, just wondered what others were setting theirs to for best performance and road noise.
  9. Out of interest Rod, what pressures you got yours set to?
  10. I damn well hope they don't. I haven't finished demonstrating it to all my mates yet :D
  11. I wish it was quite as cut-n-dry as all that. I can tell you that trying to get a CDR to be read by a Sony DVD 735 player (a superb DVD player) is no fun at all. You get marginally better results when recorded at slower speeds, although you have to question why that is. In addition to that, my wife's car will struggle to play the first few tracks of a CDR disc but quite happily play the ones towards the end of the disc. That same disc plays without any problems at all in a cheap Bush cd player we have in the kitchen. At the end of the day it's all very subjective and while you are correct that most players of today will play the discs flawlessly it's certainly not a certainty.
  12. April 6th is better for me as I am on a stag weekend covering the 30th March.
  13. I have a MKII GS430 and have to say that the heated seats are a bit lame if you want them to heat up to a level that causes blisters (like my wife does). Frankly I like the subtle heating effect but can fully understand the point you are making. They really don't work all that well. Just posted really to let you know it is the same in my car as well (it maybe year of manufacture related).
  14. I would still wager the belt needs tightening. You should have it checked and tensioned to the right value. An old rule of thumb, and that's exactly what it is, used to recommend tightening the belt until you could just about rotate it through 90 degrees. However, you really should find out the correct setting and have it adjusted properly. Be careful of overtightening!
  15. Looks stunning mate. Can imagine just how pleased you are with it. I guess now you will be visiting all the family you hardly ever see and who live miles and miles away. Not that I did that of course when I picked up mine Happy motoring
  16. Thanks all and happy birthday Craig :)
  17. I wonder what the "compound" was. Surely it wouldn't be T-Cut for metallic paint? Nothing quite beats the smell of driving in a valeted car, except perhaps driving a new one :)
  18. I find it hard to understand why a CDR, CDRW will cause a CD player to jam, unless it has been poorly labelled. At the end of the day the discs are the same, only the reflective surface is different (and sometimes the disc is slightly thicker). People will get different results, even between players of the same manufacturer. Here are some tips from research I have conducted in-house for the home entertainment system I am using. - Always use 74 min (600MB) CD's and not the 80 min ones - Try not to use discs with bizarely coloured reflective surfaces (e.g. purple). - record at the slowest speeds for best results - use a CD recorder which supports buffering (to prevent underruns) - different manufacturers of blank CD's yield different results. I have had good results with Memorex CDRW's. Haven't yet tried them in the GS yet. Hope this helps.
  19. My guess is that Tesco are merely brokers and as such look for the best deal each time you make a request for insurance. The fact that the renewal costs more than a new search maybe due to the fact that they simply renew with the insurance company who your policy is with originally. The thing is that this year they may not be the cheapest and so it pays to search for another quote, even through Tesco. That's my theory anyway.
  20. Here's a link posted by Tranman in a thread in the GS300/430 forums. Might be what you are looking for: http://www.video-nav.com/index.html
  21. Yup, I was just looking at the black ones. They look quite chic. Actually, I think I might prefer them. Thanks for the tips.
  22. April 24th is good for me. I am totally easy as to the location. Anywhere round there isn't a problem at all.
  23. Pink! Oh, alright then. It's Desert Quartz. :) Just getting finance approval from the bank manager (wife) and then I'm there. They easy to fit? Do they just prise off (I am totally clueless on this stuff, sorry).
  24. Lexussport, Tx. Look forward to seeing the pics of the finished job. Nice pics L3X JG! Where did you get your system from? Did you install it yourself?
  25. :D Good point. Actually, if they get nicked, they get nicked. As long as they don't damage the paint work getting them off. Lot cheaper to replace the insignia then getting a respray! I think I'm up for these........<disappears to Midas>
