  1. I am tempted by the Gold badging, especially as this would match well with the colour of my GS. However, I can't help wondering how attractive they are to passers-by. Does anyone know if they are frequently taken, or do people generally leave them be?
  2. Looks interesting although I actually want the DVD to be piped to the rear of the car. Not too fussed about DVD in the front. I'm sure this product answers a couple of questions I have seen floating around the forums recently regarding the conversion of the in-built Sat Nav to DVD/tuner viewer.
  3. Sorry to hear that mate. It's the absolute pits! I wish these people(!) could be caught, dragged to the next big meet, tied to a post in the center and made to answer for their actions! (too graphic to describe). I hope you get it sorted without too much fuss. :(
  4. Ah, okay. Just seen what you mean. Thanks.
  5. Claire, some idea of date would be useful. If I know enough in advance (5 days or so) then I can usually work things around the date. I'm away from 16th to 23rd this month, so that's out for me.
  6. :( Would have love to have gone but will be returning from my skiing trip (in Lapland)
  7. Wow! Thanks for that as I was set to buy the back with silver stickers. Silver calipers with black stickers it is then. I have found places that sell the paint, but where do you get the stickers from? Apologies for the novice questions.
  8. Sounds great! Any chance of a pic of your screen? Are you using the PS2 as the DVD player?
  9. Has anyone here forked out to have a DVD in-car entertainment system installed in their GS? Could someone answer some of my quessies? 1) Do they normally require the Lexus standard head unit to be replaced or can they be mounted separately in the rear somehow 2) If they do replace the head unit in the front, are they still able integrate it with the touch screen display (I have Sat Nav installed) 3) Final question, based on experience, where's the best place to get the equipment from and installed (proven installation track record and Gold member discounts) - I'm located in the South-Central (Berkshire) Thanks to anyone who can throw light on some, or all of these questions.
  10. It's sunny and mild outside and I'm stuck in this cr*ppy office :( Wish I was out driving my Lex.
  11. Just to add to that statement. The boot can only be unlocked with a Master Key. If you push the switch in and give someone a Sub-key then they will be able to drive the vehicle but not open the boot (or the glove compartment). I guess this would see more use in the U.S market where it is common place to have someone park your car (and in my wife's case that's a blessing :))
  12. I love it! Can't recommend it highly enough. Not looking forward to all the servicing costs that are bound to be attributed to a vehicle of this type, but it will definitely be worth keeping in pristine condition. Great fun to drive, very well specced, loads of space in the rear. The Mutt's Nuts basically. :D
  13. No, the instructions always state it is with the rear facing ones. To be honest I wouldn't place any newborn in a seat with an airbag. Irrespective of the way the seat is facing.
  14. That's interesting. Is it of a lower grade than what is supplied to the blue chip fuel stations? Where do the superstores get their fuel from? I thought it was cheaper as they don't make the same margin on the fuel. They don't need to as it's not their only source of revenue. To be honest they benefit from increased turnover, even if they don't make a lot of margin, it still makes their business look strong and healthy. Interested to hear what you know on this one as all my thoughts are purely speculative.
  15. Appreciate the "friends" element but I am afraid that sending an email which itself requests you to send to another "10 friends", and-so-on and-so-on is actually construed as spamming and is nearly always prohibited in ISP's T&C's. I like the idea, don't know if it will work, but it's worth a bash anyway. I am sure the message will get out even without the emailing element (posts like this on forums are a good way for a start).
  16. That's what we did. Placed it at the rear, worked really well.
  17. While I don't disagree with the consumer action being discussed I do believe it's irresponsible to condone mass, unsolicited emailing. Not to mention that it will almost certainly contravene your ISP's T&C's and cause network congestion (if it reached the limits discussed above). I think you can boycott BP/Esso and it will receive media attention anyway, which will have the desired affect of communicating the message onwards. Shell it is then :)
  18. You can pick up mirrors exactly for this from Mothercare. We used them with ours.
  19. This one? http://lexusownersclub.co.uk/reviews/lexus/
  20. I'm a complete Modding duffer. I'm not even really into all the side skirting and stuff but I am interested in painting the calipers. However, like I said, I am clueless. So can someone answer be some questions: 1) What sort of paint is it and where do you get it from? 2) Where do you get the stickers from? 3) What colour would you recommend for a car that is Desert Quartz (Goldish)? 4) Is it easy to do? Do you have to leave the car up on bricks while it dries :) Apologies for being a bit of a muppet.
  21. Actually, my two year old GS430 doesn't appear to have the memory functions. I'm not sure if they were an optional extra at the time and the original owner didn't need them or whether they were just not part of the spec then. Strange really considering how everything else is there. Electric seats are great though, no more half-standing, half-jumping manoeuvres, trying to adjust the seats :) One other thing, you really need to do the Gold Member thing. You'll need all the discounts you can lay your hands
  22. Cheapest pace I have found for the Bridgestones are Micheldever Tyres (near Winchester). Here is the quote they sent me: "We can supply, fit and balance a 235/45ZR17 Bridgestone S03 for £118.13 incl VAT"
  23. Added my review and got the GS430 out of the "not enough reviews posted" rating. I meant to cick 5 stars but inadvertently clicked on 4. Any chance of having the score amended? Tx.
  24. I've only had my GS430 for a week and it's already part of the family (certainly is another mouth to feed). I test drove the IS200 and was all set to get one (second hand, 1 year old) but when browsing lexus.co.uk I saw a two year old GS430 with 50K on the clock going for 19K. Couldn't resist it. I test drove it and I'm afraid that it just felt like it was in a class of its own. I've never driven IS300 and so can't comment on that one but I can't imagine it would quite match up to the GS430 (no offence intended to owners of the IS300). I didn't think 50K was at all prohibitive for a big engine. I think Rodders GS300 has done 130K (sure I saw that in a post somewhere). In any case, to do 50K miles in two years must have been largely motorway driving, which is actually better than if it had done 20K round the town. Check the one being offered has a full-service history. Cons: - Fuel costs (don't underestimate this part if you are paying for fuel) - Insurance costs if you are young (I'm 33 and got fully-comp for £490 p.a) - Maintenance costs - I doubt you will get a standard service done for much less than 300 notes. - Tyres will cost around the £120 mark (inc fitting) each Pros: - far too many to list :) I would say - test drive it. I think you will find your mind will be made up for you.....
