  1. Crackin job! Looks bloomin lovely B) What have you used?
  2. This government are notoriously hating of the motorist. If I could only go back in time to '97 and tell people what would happen! The fact that only 6-8% is it? (stats from quentin wilson) of "road tax" goes back into the road network is shocking. Shame the tories have taken the green position now (a u-turn to attract motorists would be disastrous to their image) I've been thinking about moving to oz for years, I'm only 26 but If we leave it any longer we'll never move, the ways things are heading economically as well as socially, I know where I'll be seeing my son grow up.
  3. QUITE FRANKLY MY FRIENDS I AM ASTONISHED THAT NO-ONE SAW THE ENTRY FOR A GAY JOKE AT THE "Bending over for brown" BIT , DON'T LOOK AT ME , I'M JUST DISAPOINTED TUT TUT!! I'm shocked it took this long for someone to notice!
  4. Looks exactly like mine, so I say, it's gorgeous Same with the wheels, keep them as is I say!
  5. It's to try and encourage people to drive more economical cars that emit less CO2. I know, I was being flippant :winky: What I object to is the premise of paying zero raod tax, when a prius does similiar damage to the roads than any other car. It's just me being pedantic about the vanacular used, our "road tax" should be in proportion to the charges levied against road maintenance. By all means have a "green tax" .....but that would mean transparency, something our present government aren't really into! Even in a situation such as a the above, the prius still puts out 104 g/km doesn't it?(not to mention the crazy ammount of c02 that goes into making the thing!) I know thats F all, but still, for you to be paying ZERO road tax I'd expect a fully electric car putting out ZERO c02 emissions. (but then, when does your electricity come from...it's hardly innocent of c02 is it!) I'm not having a go! I too have considered ditching the lex (it was a fleeting thought!) but I'm far to stubborn to bend over for brown thank you!
  6. I'm sure we'll agree we have fantastic road maintenance
  7. In short, get rid of your stereo and get an aftermarket one. It'll throw up and err3 eventually anyway...
  8. Slightly off topic but....If one gets in a smash with someone, is there anything you can do to minimise the chances of the other party lying later on? Is it best to ring the police to come out and compile an accident report? would they even do this if asked? I've never been in a smash myself, but I'm terrified that the decency of other people have deteriorated over the years, and I've grown quite atached to my NCB!
  9. Personally I think the new IS looks middle of the road, whereas the old shape looks funky, has great lines, and looks more modern than modern cars! For a car that was designed in the late 90's it looks absolutely beautifull, I always give a few glances back when I'm walking away at a car park :)
  10. new record for me: 430 before the light came on :) I swear the ecu is learning better and better :) ...oh and that was with me raggin the engine a few times (although mostly motorway)
  11. 3 Series is the drivers car, has always been, and always will. sorry! Take solice in the fact that the IS200 is a car keepers car!
  12. quick question, why should car's like the prius pay ZERO road tax? Do they float on the roads? If we all drove prius's, who the hell would pay for road maintenence?
  13. Definately sounds like windscreen, get lexus to look at it if I were you
  14. +1 Ultimately, the snow button is (I guess) great at lowering your revs thus making your IS a touch more economical. But did you really purchase your IS with the intention of being economical?? Have a bit of fun FFS!!
  15. My first guess is that it's your ipod! When thinking which is more buggy; a piece of software designed on/for a quality piece of engineering, or something built by apple that takes x ammount a resets a week to get to work....I know which my money's on :)
  16. the plastic fascia just had a wet n dry, then a matt spray, it's as good as you're going to get (in some lights you can still tell the difference) , the rubber seal needed a bit of coaxing to get it to sit perfectly (I use the tilt on the screen quite a bit, so it needed to be absolutely perfect) Headrests :) Orginaly I'd planned to fit a freeview box to the kenwood, but to be honest it seemed a bit like overkill. I'd love to fit an xbox (modded) into the boot somehow without getting rid of the spare, I've got a couple of chipped xbox's knocking around that could do with a home! But I'm not 100% sure what I'd do with them. Could either run a video input to the kenwood (and therefore use XBMC from the xbox) or treat the xbox like a USB hard drive as another media source (on top of the ipod) EDIT: HID's are also on the list, but I know absolutely nothing about them, how to fit, whats good, price etc etc, so it's probably going to the back of the list
  17. depends entirely on the pre-amp on the headunit you're going for, mine's got pretty much the same power as the standard lexus amp, so no sound quality loss here (mind you I only had the car a week before I removed the headunit!)
  18. speakers are next on the list, I like the original speakers alot though so I'm a bit conflicted about what to do, I think I may just drive them with something a bit more beefy :) (amps been completely removed) Then there's headrests to do (absolute pig of a job I imagine) Then rear tints and then If my wallet doesn't feel so light I'll start to think about SC and bodykits oh and I'll be in to see Tony as soon as he's got some spare time!
  19. and here's the first mod: kenwood DNX7200 with blutooth kit, FM traffic receiver for the sat nav, ipod video cable kit and rear parking camera bar the voice activation that you get on the 250 MM, I think I've done quite well!
  20. So what should I look out for when buying or looking at one? that the CD player isnt showing err3, that the AC is icy cold, check inner tyre wear for alignment issues, check that all windows are original if not make sure there is no damp in the footwell. Do they have variable servicing? servicing is every 10k or every year I want an automatic, is there anything different with these? slightly slower to 60, apart from that, not really Is the 2.0 better than the 3.0 and what is more economical? 200 is slightly more economical, the 300 has the extra bhp that the 200 lacks, entirely personal preference (remember IS's are notoriosly thirsty on fuel) I drive 500 miles a week all motorway and at the moment in my 2.3 Hot 250bhp Saab I am getting around 34/36 mpg? you'd be able to achieve similar MPG as long as you take it easy and your not heavy footed (and use cruise control alot) the most I've ever had out of a tank was 410 miles (65 ltr tank) Also would I get a decent late one (xreg) for around £5000) definately
  21. Ok so have we any idea what road tax is to be expected from a dual-fuel post-2001 IS ? If it's reasonable we may have found a solution to that near-half a grand figure us (post-2001) IS owners are in for
  22. I'm guessing not, most LPG conversions don't render the petrol tank useless? and don't you usually have to run the petrol every now and again? I'm guessing here but for the DVLA to acknowledge the co2 emissions drop you would have to not have the option to run petrol?
  23. Quick Q; How would a conversion affect the car tax hike? I take it would effect the VED banding? So would a post-2001 IS pay much less in road tax?
  24. You'll be back...they always come back :)
