  1. I've got an f sport and there appears to be a bit of a delay from stationary if you floor it (certainly compared to my 250). As you say, I find the best acceleration is being a touch more gentle. You can turn EV off completely I think in the dash settings, which might make a difference, bit of a faff to do that every time you stop at a roundabout though. I've noticed my driving style has completely changed in 3 days since owning. I used to keep the 250 in ECT power mode all the time, I'd use the flappy paddles alot etc. Now I get EV anxiety (I consider myself a failure if I'm not seeing the green light come on for the majority of round town driving). So much so, I look forward to 30mph sections as I know I can max out the EV Getting a solid 45MPG and 50 on dual carriageways so I'm very happy (low 20's in my 250 - I'd be lucky to see 300 miles out of a tank)
  2. I've been in that situation before - park as far away as possible to anything and come back to a shed next to me. I think people do it on purpose, as they know what kind of neurosis they're inflicting on people Parking next to another decent motor seems to be the best way to go, and (as I did yesterday); park at intu Derby, literally run to the shop I needed to, and then sprint back to the car Dashcam is £300 fitted (front/rear). It's got offline sensors that activate if there's any motion near the car, so should put (some) of my anxiety to bed. Doesn't help if someone opens their door against my beauty though (no side cameras - not even sure that those exist?). Looks like the best price I can find the unit is £200, I'm comfortable with Lexus fitting as they'll do a tidy job and take car with it. Driving to Paris next Thursday so desperately want to get it done before then.
  3. Make a note of the ones that you can't see. On your PC, open them up in anything capable of reading the ID3 tags (even iTunes should do). See if there's anything odd in the tag (a symbol like €%#¥>~ etc) or even if there's a space before/after the end of a field. Could be the nav is a bit more particular on what it will scan.
  4. Yep, was the sensor. The screens been replaced at some point (Lexus logo still present so they must have done it) and the gel was missing from the sensor. The lights don't auto-level like they do in the 250. It's set by how many are in the car (presumably isn't automatic). got they to quote for dash cam fitting as well. My anxiety driving around and more so when parked is off the scale. I found myself parking at a supermarket car park yesterday waiting for the car beside me to drive off before I went inside :/
  5. Your charger isn't earthed properly. I had a cheap eBay Chinese charger for the 12v to charge my phone in my old 250 and whenever it was plugged in I'd lose 90% of FM radio stations.
  6. Yeah I got a deal on the boot liner, basically chucked in the two cargo nets :) I wonder if the levelling occurs before startup then, hence why you don't see the lights go up and down as in the 250?
  7. One more question.... On my 250 the lights would balance on start up on account of the weight in the car and you could visibly see the lights move up and down. I thought the 300h did this as well and I'm sure I read in the manual that this is a feature. Did I imagine it?
  8. Will have a look tomorrow in the light. It did have a treatment of supaguard. Wouldn't have thought it would have made its way on the windshield but you never know. Boot liner's £90.
  9. Hi all, Checked the logo, definitely there. Tried chucking water over all with the LED on and set in various positions on the dial, nothing happens. Guess I'll know more on Tuesday when I'm back at the dealership. Thanks to all for posting, I remember how helpful LOC can be, hope to be hanging around a bit more than I was with the last iS :)
  10. Update: Auto definitely doesn't work. If I move the stalk in either direction when the auto button is on, it just turns it off. Also still can't get intermittent to work when moving. It seems to work as described in the manual, but as soon as the car's moving it's either on or off, no intermittent. All under warranty, so I'm not worried, I'm guessing it's a mixture of software and a failure of the sensor module.
  11. Cheers both. Will post pics in the next few days :) I'll try what you say later today. But from memory yesterday when it was chucking it down I had the LED light on, pressing down kept them on, but when there was just a bit of drizzle it was still either on or off, and no sign of the intermittent wipers working at all. I'll go out today and poor some water over it and see if it at least activates the autos.... P.S I'm smitten :)
  12. Picked up my is300h yesterday : F sport in celestial black with ML and leather pack. I've now had the trio: IS200, IS250 and now this! Anyway, torrential rain yesterday (bloomin kryptonite to a black car) and I tried the auto wipers. Nothing happened. If I turned the dial down it would do nothing, but if I turned it up it would just do one flick and nothing more. Pulled over and RTFM. Pretty sure I'm not doing anything stupid but I can't seem to get the intermittent wipers to work either. I'm heading back to delearship on Tuesday to pick up boot liner, but before I make an arse of myself, is there something I'm missing or has anyone heard of this fault?
  13. Ignoring my first car (my dad bought it for me) it's been Toyota/Lexus all the way. Renault 19 L reg in '98 went to Oz and bought a 1981 Corolla that had been covered to LPG - that car was as old as me but never missed a beat. Then a Corolla M reg in 2003 Lexus Is200 54 plate in 2007 Corolla 53 plate in 2007 for the wife (still using now!) Lexus IS 250 SE-L in 2010 picking up my new one tomorrow: IS300h F-sport ML/Leather 64 plate which will also be the newest car I've ever bought!
  14. Yep, classic Lexus thinking. Let's inject a ludicrous ammount of money in setup, admin, franchising on-offs etc to stop a tiny minority paying a highly inflated value for what should be included, without fee, in a "pursuit of perfection" strategy. Ever broken the top plastic cap off your headlamp washer?....."Oh I'm afraid that part is also connected to a piece of plastic on the actuator......£200 please". Personally, I think the eastern-prestige marques have forgotton why consumers originally found refuge with them some 20 years ago.......(think what Honda did to the US bike market)...quality without exhorbitant servicing fees. Charging in excess of £100 sheets for updated road maps is hardly consistent with this strategy and is why I'll continue to download them for free.
  15. I also thought it came in later, but this seems to claim otherwise. How did you get it on yours? Just asked them to program it when I bought it (Lexus leicester). locks automatically after 15MPH (SE-L if that makes a difference). Also, the programmable feature that is available to anyone was only for 08+ cars AFAIK (the abililty to lock when engaging drive, and unlock when engaging park), but lexus servicing can activate the anti-hijack on any 250 - despite what they might tell you.

  17. Don't bother. Lexus charge a stupid fee for map updates. Speak to Reeves, he'll sort you out for a much more competitive rate, or search for the IMG files in the "usual" places
  18. Are you sure that's what it says? When you press the button it usually says something like "please say the command after beep" Failing that, if it is actually informing you to press ignition to start VR, have you actually tried doing as instructed?
  19. Remember that if the slide switch (that designates which side mirror your operating) is set in the middle (i.e. neither selected) then this disables the auto-dip in reverse mode. The switch MUST be either set to L or R for the autodip to work
  20. Have a search around posts on the satnav update and you'll save yourself 125 sheets pal any chance you can direct me to the correct thread mate. I've been looking for a couple of days and can't find anything. and cheers to everyone else for the advice http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=68321&st=0&p=728443entry728443

  22. In all the cars I've owned since satnavs have existed, the discrepency you've detailed is pretty much what I've experienced, it's nothing to worry about, as said above, it's better to er on the side of caution. I would be very suprised if anyone would toy with the calibration of the cluster unit. I can't see why the odometer would be reading a wrong value though. A distance unit is much easier to measure and therefore more definitive than one involving time (speed)
  23. Not these days, as you say it's got a full lexus history, nothing to worry about All the recalls that that model would have had - check the vehicle no. on Lexus website Check aircon's nice and icy TBH, everything should just work if you're buying approved pre-owned If approved pre-owned from Lexus 14-15 If an indie dealer, 12-14 Private sale, around the 12.5 mark
