  1. The GTE has different pistons and rod, which are something you can use to strengthen the 1G-FE if you can get hold of those. Think the bottom end also has a difference in that it has oil squirters to cool the pistons. So all of the head/block/internals have differences, I think. I think that Sam put the bottom end and internals of a 1G-GTE into his IS200, keeping the head. Though I could be wrong.
  2. They're not, no, they're for the 3S-GE. Prolex have a turbo kit.
  3. Yeah you definitely need washers to get through the MoT.
  4. Wheels are a very subjective thing, a bit like asking "what's the best colour to respray my Lex ?", you'll get a variety of opinions based on personal taste. If I was you I'd look at lots of pics of other cars and/or do a bit of Photoshopping to see what *you* think looks the best.
  5. "Dome" fuse in the passenger-side fuse box.
  6. Pretty sure mine sits in the middle (and I don't have a problem with the handbrake). Could be model-year dependent ?
  7. I find it very hard to understand how setting the geo at one axle can have anything to do with the other one, given they're totally independent
  8. Yes mate thats the one I used (except never used upper case ?? - maybe thats the problem? No, it wouldn't be that. Email addresses are not case-sensitive.
  9. Or you can get a new aftermarket head unit that has the capability to connect to and to control an iPod, and could give you other new features too like Bluetooth etc.
  10. Don't take the fuses out before getting the codes read ! Because then you'll lose any codes that might be there.
  11. The HKS Silent Hi-Power is suprisingly quiet (given the size of the exit pipe). I'm pretty sure it's a fair bit quieter than the Blueflame.
  12. Why do you need to replace it, is the whole board corroded ? Can you not just clean it up ? Lexus/Toyota will sell you one but I imagine it's expensive (though I haven't checked). Or you could try a breaker's, you'll find various IS200s being broken and you can enquire about the fuse board.
  13. Just to add, Sky Insurance have a modification form that you fill in whenever you declare new mods, and they have all sorts of existing mods with tick boxes beside them, to cater for common mods. "Decat pipe" is already on there so clearly that's something they're expecting you to declare if you have one. It's not actually illegal to have one as has been said, just that it *might* cause you emissions problems, but with a potential increase in power it's something you'd have to declare or risk having your insurance invalidate if they find out after a claim.
  14. Sorry I should have checked into this more before just relying on what had been said before. I found this leaflet which explains roadside emissions tests. Basically if you fail one of these you get issued with a notice stopping you using the car, then you have to get the emissions sorted quickly or you'll get prosecuted. There's some wording about if you're in "serious breach" of emission limits then you might just be prosecuted straight away, but I have no idea how much your emissions might be out at the roadside if you're just using a decat pipe.
  15. You should be able to get a cat for a lot less than £370 if you shop around. Try here.
  16. In theory you could get pulled over by the police for a roadside emissions test, and if you fail they could confiscate your car I think. Although I don't think there's exactly a huge chance of getting pulled like that. I think you'd have to tell the insurance company, yes. People tend to swap in a cat for the MoT, as you've said.
  17. Ah well, that's ok then, at least you'll probably going to be able to get your money back ! :D
  18. ERR3 means the CD mechanism has jammed. If it's a "top-loading" head unit (i.e. CD slot at the top), then it's quite easy to take it apart, get to the CD mechanism and free jammed CDs. However, with a V plate then it'll be a bottom-loader, which is a nightmare to take apart, so you're going to need a new head unit. Don't get another Lexus one, they're very expensive and will fail again at some point anyway. Get an aftermarket one as Ormi said.
  19. Great news Alam, like you I couldn't believe the difference with my own ARBs. I'm sure you'd keep up with me a lot better (and more) now ! :D I had my geo re-checked a while after fitting ARBs because I had stupidly knocked the kerb quite hard and was concerned it had put the geo out. Tony did find that it was slightly out at the rear (which isn't where I'd knocked it) and he said he suspected that was the ARBs being a bit stiffer and causing it to sit slightly differently. So I wouldn't bother getting the geo done for now given that you're getting coilovers, wait for those and then get it reset when they're fitted.
  20. Lol thanks Chris, at least you managed to find it !
  21. Argh, can't find the link. Geoffers did a walkthrough with photos but I can't find it. Mr Morse also did a walkthrough though the pictures aren't there any more.
  22. There's a walkthrough somewhere, I'll dig out a link. It's not that quick and easy unfortunately, it's a bit of a pain. Just fiddly really, not really hard.
  23. Gearing is supposed to be exactly 1.000 in fifth :)
  24. I don't think you can get it as a separate part, as your dealer has said. Try a breaker's perhaps ? Whoever did the valet should be paying for this.
