  1. Some bold clames there. I am thinking my janspeed may not be up to the 3sgte conversion, so if there is gains to be had I may look into Vortex further. However I thought an engine needed back presure to work properly?? Quote: A Vortex ExhaustTM is better than a free-flowing stainless steel exhaust The Vortex ExhaustTM Resonator is the best exhaust technology there is for power. It gives serious gains that free-flowing stainless steel exhaust or titanium exhausts can’t give. Whereas a Vortex exhaust can often give between 10 and 20 per cent improvement in power and torque free-flowing exhaust systems generally only deliver one or two per cent improvement, sometimes compromising power or torque.
  2. The ones I have gone for are on page 107 of the www.Sumex.com on line catalogue, they are silver faces with no power to them and with power they can be any of 7 colours including Lexus orange!! and £65 for 3 gauges (oil temp, pressure and boost to +2 bar, -1 bar) including lots of pipework/Tee's and what not. All the instructions are in French though!! I am sure one gauge is plumed in the same way as any other, glad I'm not doing it......... I couldn't stretch to the more expensive/better gauges this time.
  3. 100% agree with you. What you want and are quoted for and what you get must be the same or better!! Keeping a close eye on what is going on to your own car whoever is working on it is essential, at the end of the day it is your car, your choice and your responsibility. Your point is well made especially with the sorry state of affairs with TDI. Caveat emptor!!
  4. This cost vs HP is the reason why I have been reluctant in saying how much my conversion will be I can't be bothered with the "you could have done this or that etc for the money". I have a healthy budget so i will use it. But coupled together with the new tyres, disks and pads all round (Black Diamond), suspension and WIMing??, I would have thought I will be on the harsh side of 6K, for a 150bhp increase...... which is £42 perHP. If I went witha TTE charger at 2K + 500 fitting?? it would have been (assuming 210HP from 157) £47per HP NOT including all the handling and stopping mods. Yes I could have got a "better" car for the money (M3 springs to mind), but I love my lexus and intend to keep it. I think I was in the right place at the right time and thanks to a member on here, spoke to the right people. I for one can't wait to see and hear the V8 IS200 marcus is building it should be an animal, I wonder if it will be as fast as mine.... see you at The Pod . Good luck with the electrics M8!! Money interestingly/well spent in my book.
  5. Clever clogs. Isn't the neat toyota fluid mixed 50/50 with distilled water?
  6. It was sucidal going for my usual morning run round Furzton lake (Milton Keynes) this morning, the snow/ice was sooooo slipery I am lucky not to have broken my legs, even the grass was dangerous............ Hope tomorrow is better.
  7. Just put Continental's all round on my IS, love them even only after 15 miles!!
  8. I like the wording: THESE MOD CHIPS ARE (RESISTORS) so why say it is a "chip" BUT PLEASE DONT JUST BUY ONE FROM AN ELECTRICAL SHOP Why not it will save me £'s? ONE, IT WONT WORK Neither will your "resistor".
  9. Most Ferrari drivers spend their time on the road going fairly slowly, bits fall of them at high speeds :shutit: I went on a Ferrari trip to Modena and out of 12 cars only 2 made it without something falling off or breaking down completely. Even the Ferrari mechanic on the trip was not suprised at the high failure rate. Most 911 drivers don't go slowly because their cars are made properly!! And you are right I am looking forward to "showing off" my car once finished. But in a sensible safe way, I am not a boy racer who will kill someone by using excess speed in a dangerous way on the public highway!!
  10. I think it is 1 Gallon (4.5L) I am sure someone will correct me though if I am wrong!!
  11. I did see a "calibrate after new tyres" option on the OEM unit?? anyone know why?
  12. More than likely, just the i's to dot and the t's to cross I did say it is a deal with the devil............. Why did you not go with this Lysholm charger in the end mate My reasons have already been stated. Prolex is @@@@ and @@@@@ @@@@@@@@'
  13. There was a BBC2 show last Sunday exploring the benefits of a "gizmo" in the car to limit the speed of all cars to the speed limit, but with an over-ride button. There were very convincing arguments on both sides, for 30mph areas it would get my vote. But I don't want a box telling me how to drive. I am embarrased to admit I did have BBC2 on the radio :o BIG BROTHER
  14. Well, Fargo has said he will supply the sat nav fix box to keep it working, I have orded the amp bypass lead and facia from evilbay, I have an old Pioneer head unit, it was nearly top of the range 8 years ago, it even has dolphins swimming accross the front I am sure DJ Wozza will know what I mean........... It will do until some more £'s come my way and a DAB unit can go in maybe with DVD playback?? Smaller dials and a neat finish is the way forward :D Thanks again lads all advice taken and appreciated.
  15. What year is the car? Think it's a normal trait to be honest - the really old ones were much better in the bass department - the newer ones were much less bass heavy - I still liked it though! I'm dangerous with subs though, just ordered a new one as I blew mine up! Very late 2005. A new head may well lead me to dangerous aftermarket speakers, amps, subs though and really blow the budget...........

    Would Like Lsd

Thanks guys, PM to Monster Mat sent.
  17. Another idea (yes I have loads) is change the STD head unit and put 2/3 dials below a single DIN unit....... Ohh. whilst on this idea is it normal for the standard head unit to have no bass until it is turned up to at least 1/2 volume, or is it the speakers??
  18. Deff. speed cameras, even has a sign saying "average speed cameras on test". I beleve a 50mph limit is also on the way for most of the MK grid roads.
  19. The Milton keynes Council have just put up average speed check camersa along a road just out side my house. Between 2 roundabouts. The thing is I have lived there far 11 years and only seen accidents along the road from cars pulling ONTO the road and not looking when joining the road. The road is 2 miles long (tops) so to average 70mph you really will have to be pushing it. BUT (the good news) anyone found speeding will be let off as the cameras haven't been officialy sanctioned by the government for use on public roads.
  20. I think you are right Mr DJ Wozza . I will get something together and follow parts of your ICE thread to get the finish. I will ask ToyotoGT to leave the wires available in the centre dash so I can play about once it is back from there, gives me a long tome to plan.......... Would the pillar mounted ones would interfear with the airbags?
