  1. Moonraker hi, what's the mileage ? could it be UCA time ....... without a load on board mine went " crunch " quite a few years back up in the Italian Dolomites ....... stopped, investigated and nowt seemed an issue .... got back and some months later she failed on the UCA that side .... guessed it was that at the time ... made zero difference to the driving of the car at all ........... OR it could be a loose exhaust shield . one of mine just loosened a fraction and made cruchy noises on one specific not so local speed bump configuration ..... after happening a few times and only at that location and over many months, and after investigating further, the offending shield was surgically removed . only one bolt holding it back from dropping off it seemed Doubt it's anything too serious to worry about ... it's a Ls400 with sometimes self-healing capabilities Malc
  2. Don't remember seeing a non-working phone box for a very long time either ...... are there any left that haven't been converted to the local village Library drop-off point or summat .... coz they are Listed Buildings these days . well, the red one's anyway ? Malc
  3. my oh my . a tad younger than me then ........ technology just amazes me .. read this ........ last Thursday my Office inDelhi called me on my mobile ( from our 020 London line there ) and we took on board the conversation going on with my Head of Operations who was conducting a short guided tour with some very special clients ................ in Kathmandu Nepal ..... also from his mobile phone ( India number ) with our London Delhi Office number ...... so's we could discuss how we were going to put the upfront financing for a deal together for a UK Client to travel heaven knows where this summer ! Just flabbergasted me as to how technology has so moved, so far and broad and embracing, since the essentials of covid disaster times making us all think outta the box with communications Malc
  4. .... originality for our trusted steeds is good imho AND I do so like the originality in that photo of the classic Ls400 in pearlescent white attire Malc
  5. to Wheel Alignment Cost ...... the header here ...... and the utter futility of trying to do that onself at home eh ! Malc
  6. off topic is often quite good .. just thinking what a local Tory MP has been saying lately about,... " oh really ! do we want to import all those solar power roof panels from China . does anyone else understand how they're produced for us in the UK to get our free solar energy ! " food for thought no doubt Malc
  7. does one have such cycle paths on Gooigle maps these days ? Malc
  8. given petrol prices, license costs, tax - methinks an older Ls400 ...... economy up to around 30mpg on a run, low road tax and cheap insurance too for limited miles per annum ..... and tiny tiny servicing and maintenance costs too usually coupled with supreme comfort and reliability and " presence " OR maybe a Yaris or Aygo ....... if you've got capital to spend willy nilly Malc
  9. on the rare ocasion I follow a Lexus, let alone ever see another these days, apart from the HUGE monster SUVs that I seem to hate with a vengeance whatever ..... I do think there's summat very special and cool seeing, or should I say NOT seeing the rear badges .......... mystifying and intrigue in abundance Malc
  10. and the reg no isn't checkable ! Malc
  11. James hi, it's good to see your speedo and rev counter working tho' ... at 25 years young mine did too mostly ...... electronics have a way of telling you they're just getting a bit tired sadly BUT back to your Q .. never seen that appear on mine yet Good luck finding it tho .... you have done the obvious like checking the engine oil levels etc ? Malc
  12. I even hunt out old and ancient .. but very inexpensive .........old atlases and driving maps . they are sometimes interesting . my nephew has even covered his study ceiling in local ( old ) roadmaps . jus out of interest whiling away the hours I s'pose Malc
  13. and some of us simply couldn't change a wheel these days ...... summat to do with arthritis and immoblity you know Malc
  14. I found this with the Lexus wiper rubbers I used to buy ..... lasted many years .......... and then at the last offering they barely lasted a year ...... Malc
  15. poured with rain here last night and the car's looking like it's been in a sandstorm for heavens sake 😵 Malc
  16. I'll get myself a latest A - Z edition then ..... mine's from almost pre motorway times Malc
  17. I can't help you with this I'm afraid other than to slightly console you in that pre 2012 ( Nov ? ) failing TPMS is NOT an MOT failuire issue Best wishes resolving this hiccup Malc
  18. and the caliper issues ? they weren't suddenly going to advise you need to spend another £1000 to sort that issue out when they car was up in the air 😵 BUT do make sure you ask your indy to check and grease-up the caliper bits and bobs eh ! .. these are so so often overlooked and can result in some expensive issues further down the line Malc
  19. small freebie Wilko carrier bag might do ......... compact yet big enough to stash all the above and a few chocolate bars too ..... for those emergency stops I use TWO Morrisons carrier bags for all my " essentials " ..... including an aged A - Z atlas last used some time back too, but then again the boot in my Ls400 is ginormous My chocolate bars I keep with the cassette tapes in the glovebox ! ....... my torch is courtesy of my iPhone tho' ......... Malc
  20. this might be a little irreverent BUT I read on here recently somewhere of a Member's costs @£400 to sort this all out I would seriously consider simply disabling the TPMS totally as there's no MOT requirement for it to function ... just check the tyre pressures with the usual eye-looking technology engaged with the occasional foot-kicking tech too .. I jest on the latter part of this reply . don't do anything that might damage your toes Malc
  21. the bag would need to be as skinny as a greenfly Malc
  22. did you check the different rakes on the steering column to make sure they fully work ? Malc
  23. this is seemingly popular throughout Norway and the 3 mins re-fill must have been shortened for the 2 min video I for one, in my little terraced house and nowhere to keep my car, would consider this type of EV ( eventually ) as would many non-EV thinking people with the same issues as I have in simple " re-fuelling " Bring it on then Toyota ..............another goddam neighbour seems to have got 'imself a damned Bentley now .. that's 3 of 'em ........... and it's summer and there's one of them's Jensen Interceptor adorning our roadside too ........... all these old classic bangers littering the streets eh ! Malc
