  1. you're quite right I know .. and the UK Honda Legend is extremely rare and sadly worth almost bug-ger all £££ ........... if i was to " invest " in modern classics then they would probably be the Ls400 ......... My 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer isn't worth a great deal even tho' it's believed to be one of only 8 remaining worldwide .... it's main market outside of the UK was Australia / New Zealand . maybe worth £ 20/30k today . but fragile in its use for sure and almost impossible for me to drive too ... I'm old .........Cost me about £7,500 maybe 20 years ago ..... so in actual fact a sound investment .. new cost was I think about £420 ..... and my car KV2596 was the Triumph Works show car too in its day .......... even ( somewhere ) got a picture outside 10 Downing Street .......... maybe they had a cat too in those days and she often appears in the Waitrose Newmarket car park where she resides close by too ........... must be a Waitrose thingy with old and venerable steeds Malc
  2. even tho' you've invested all that " blood toil tears and sweat " and about £1mn so far ........ and it's sadly not a Mk3 .......... hehehehehehehe
  3. ordinary new diesle cars perhaps BUT for traversing the Outback etc then maybe big bug-ger diesel monsters like a Toyota sumat or other will still be there BUT this is about old and ancient cars for potential investment ... even a 100% paper profit over 10 years might be good on an old Ls400 ....... if storage costs etc weren't an issue , say from £5k to upvalue to £10k might be achieveable ? Malc
  4. this is very similar looking to the charger being used by a car the other day and night from the ordinary electricity 13amp power source on the Town Quay here where I live Maybe this is the answer for ordinary UK " charge at home " users too ? Malc
  5. good and sensibly used Ls400s ....... well looked after, or even not so well looked after cars .......... thoughts anyone Interest rates on your savings are only just now edging up from almost a big fat zero ...... worldwide stock markets have always been a bit of a gamble methinks .... I suppose the cost of " holding " car stock is quite steep, car storage, physical maintenence etc . whereas a simple push of a finger keeps your on-line " paper " investments virtually cost free . apart from those possible and potential 'orrible " paper losses " .... and at the end of life, mine, yours or the paper investments, .... zero value maybe ......... even a car thereat will have a scrap value for one's kids to inherit I don't know .... there's a few useful investments in " classic " cars but they are really quite unusual ........... An odd-ball thought process going on here BUT oh my, pushing surplus cash around has never proved more of an embarrassment right now AND my own Ls400 in daily use for 27 years has proven to be a sound investment for me these past 11 years of ownership for sure I don't know .... any thoughts one and all ? Malc
  6. wot ! . I wish . pubs here in my part of Kent it's £5 a pint .......... £40 a gallon .. that's inflation for you eh ! Malc
  7. I refuelled both my Ls400 on E5 and my Honda Legend with E10 the other day ............. spent a miserly @£265 Malc
  8. just on petrol and re-charging thru' the hybrid stuff alone then ............. ???? seems remarakable and worthy of a Lexus Badge of Honour methinks wonder over how many days motoring too ? Malc
  9. .... it's the heat affecting the signal . the phone battery .. the user maybe too it will all come right in good time .... enought time for all the Outlook stuff to catch-up and start dumping all it's " rubbish " on us all again ... so don't fret over it all .. it WILL be back with a vengeance ..... in fact mine never went away ........... unless it's while I was having a coffee in Faversham earlier ...... wot a balmy day eh ! Malc
  10. can you pl;ease let us all know what that website is ? I'm sure others will be happy to know of it too Malc
  11. snake maybe already beaten dear fellow ....... my ancient Ls400 4 Ltr V8 power limo does all of that at least ....... and costs buger all in capital costs these days .... she actually owes me a staggering £650 ? after my collecting my Cat N payout a year or two back .... and petrol refuelling costs pale into insignificance over the capital costs of a brand new EV EVs have very little ( if any ) benefit for most people with special cars like older Lexii ....... and it saves the planet by not scrapping perfectly good cars too believe it or not ! Malc
  12. OEM new battery every time for me......... . always found the local Toyota Main Dealer ( which next door Lexus showroom uses of course ) provides the best value new battery ...... and always less expensive than any of the other local suppliers for sure ... and ask nicely and they free-fit it for you while you're having a freebie coffee too It's only 10 mins. Malc
  13. there was an earlier post here about a set of chrome wheels for sale ......... last month or so .... Malc
  14. If I were to it would undoubtedly be in a Toyota monster diesel of some description methinks Malc My only visit to Tierra del Fuego ( about 30 years back ) was with a trekking expedition when we actually flew down to T del F having bussed ( and walked ) many miles along the southbound amazing scenic route from Buenos Aires through the amazing matrvellous quite safe nation of Argentina ..... and YES ......... . I wouldn't hesitate for one minute driving my Ls400 the length and breadth of Argentina BUT I would need at least a month gliding along in blissful Ls400 reliabilty, comfort, safety and security ...... with many a petrol pump enroute for sure As mentioned before ..... all I would do / ever actually do ...... for a Ls400 holiday journey pre-check is the oil level, the radiator water, pas reservoir level and wash bottle check, tyre pressures too ......... then OFF I go .....would go Knowing there's absolutely nowt to go awry ......... Malc
  15. I shall in future buying E10 at Asda for the Honda Legend for sure ........ cheapest E10 around ( 187.9p ) and only when we're passing ... jeez it's HER car indoors and it's ME buying the petrol BUT the only E5 available is at Morrisons on the " Pay at Pump " one ........... NOW what i find unforgiveable at Molrrisons is the local'ish store with E5 is some 5 miles away next to Asda BUT the Morrisons local local store, about a mile away, their petrol is 4p a litre more expensive than their store next to the Asda .......... and the cartel operates in that price is the same as my local local Tescos too .... E10 at 193.9p No supermarkets are looking after us, their customers right now with helpful ( to us ) fuel costs Malc
  16. Oh my ....... heaven then ......... easy place to find when the time comes ? ........ Ls400 breakers that is .......... I know heaven for me will be nigh impossible Malc
  17. weird today ..... filled up E10 .....the Honda Legend on the " Pay at Pump " and popped in £99 ....... at Asda . max allowed at the pump on my Lloyds debit card ......... and then started again ....... to continue filling and blow me down the pump refused to accept my card ... i had maxd it's use it said 😵 .... so I pop in another card to contuinue filling-up and it's taken another £27 odd ....., Very inconvenient scrabbling around for another card ..... especially as the first alternate card wouldn't work at all !!! NOW, a few days, last week ..... i refilled the Lexus Ls400 and using the E5 pump at Morrisons, again the "Pay at Pump" ( the only E5 pump ) ..... I put in the usual £100 max, replaced the hose in the holder and started again.. and it was absolutely fine .... took another £37 ? odd on that same Lloyds Bank debit card So is it Asda don't like me or the Honda Legend and Morrisons like me and the Lexus ?? OR has Lloyds Bank suddenly changed the rules of the game with car owners and needing to remove more of their dosh from their accounts ! Weird as I say . so there we are ........... 2 x cars and £250 down in a week just on sod--ding petrol Malc
  18. But it's ( almost ) quite simply 400 £ billion of Taxpayers money having been spent on, well, us Taxpayers ......... and I've always been of the view that this enormous sum could just be pushed on down the line for our wonderful kids, our inheritors, to payback over a good long time ........ and indeed, with inflation raging at 10% say, a year, then the £400 bn becomes 360£bn then £324 bn by 2024 and sub £300 bn by 2025 ........... NOW by my maths this level of enormous debt is just BRILLIANT ......... well done to Boris, Rishi and all the others with such foresight Malc
  19. not quite ......... reading Germany has voted ............ NON .... Malc
  20. nope ... the best Tory politician certainly isn't ..... dear old Rishi .............. Malc
  21. Jerry welcome to this forum .... much reading of the experts on here views, with these cars, on both styles, will probably reveal that there is just about zero comfort difference The main difference is the future comfort to your pocket in ££££ of NOT having the risk and cost of air going kaput at some time BUT I'm sure others here will give you their well considered and expertise thoughts, from actual and real time day to day use Best wishes Malc
  22. Oh my, I'm so impressed ....... miss lightfoot for me these next weeks then ............. never thought that mpg could be at all possible ..... well done Malc
