  1. Not sure this used to happen on my w reg is200, but on my 2001 is200 sport, if I have the headlights on, and use the windscreen washer thing, it also does the front headlamps as well! It only does it the first time you do it, then never again, till you turn the ignition off!
  2. 1. Don't Go through the gears when accelerating. Depends what speed you want to be at, but if it's around town, then 1,2,6th normally works for me. You need to get to the speed you want to be at asap! Whilst other cars are still accelerating, you'll be doing 40mpg 2. whilst crusing, 6th will do you at pretty much any speed over 28 ish MPH. An engine works best under load 3. when crusing, watch your MPG gauge. You should be able to do any speed at 30mpg (over 80 doesn't count :D ). Very slowly (and I mean SLOWLY) take your foot off till the gauge gets to 40mph. You speed will very slowly decrease, but it doesn't take much to get back up to the speed you want to be at. This is called 'Impulse Driving' 4. Take your foot fully off the accelerator when going downhill or slowing down. The ECU cuts the fuel so long as the revs are above a certain limit. no fuel + speed = mega fuel consumption! I think that's about it really. Hope this helps! You really need to be able to feel the accelerator notches when lifting your foot off. And use the MPG guage
  3. You don't live in a part of the world where everyone's first car is a tractor (or trac'er, as they say down here)! :P
  4. The evidence.... The is200 will normally do around 30 miles with the needle resting on the pin, although don't quote me on that!
  5. Nope, and that's with an up and down of the pennines (twice) inbetween! 65 - 70 mph seems awfully slow when you are skint! The next time I do the journey, I;ll do an ecu reset and shove optimax in and see if there is a differance!
  6. Ditto. Got rid of mine and ended up with scarlatti red, which is an **** to keep clean! Looks good though :-) Sorry to hear about the accident... As for insurrance, have a word with Lexus insurrance, as they are the cheapest for me :-)
  7. I've had for a couple of weeks, a 51 reg is200 sport which had done ikt's previous 20k miles pottering around london"! Anyway, have just spent the weekend up north at my parents. Filled up here in Ipswich, and with a mixture of A roads on general pottering around, have covered 532 miles in one go! I was just appraoching the petrol station last night when it coughed! Filling up, I got 69 litres in, so it really was on vapours! So, an average of 35 mpg, IMMSMC Can anyone do any better? If I hadn't have been stuck in traffic on the A1, I'd have probably got a little more out of it! Regards, Paul "Frugal" Fidler
  8. I have.... Well, Lexus Park Lane did the leather bits of the drivers seat as the silly mare that had hads the car previous had been a bit clumsy. no idea of cost though
  9. Couldn't agree more! I picked up my 2001 is200 sport last week in, yes, scarlati red!!! You have good taste!
  10. are these yanks mad? They talk of stock 300bhp.... if they want that, why don't they just go out and get an evo or something! We are talking of power in the region of M3 territory here! Crazy people.... Just because they don't have bends! :D
  11. Easy tiger! Mine took between 1500-2500 miles to loosen up then it purred like a liddle puddy cat! Take it easy and don't take it over 5000 rpm for the first 5000 miles or so and it will stay in good shape!
  12. Hi Jaffa! Hope you like the new car! I pick up mine on thursday! :-) Anyway, question one. The newest disc should be 2004/5. They occasionally appear on ebay, although I'm sure they are copied. retail price from a lexus dealer is normally near to £400, although with a bit of gold discount you should be able to reduce this Secondly... A decent car audio should be able to fit a bluetooth car kit, thus avoiding any need for a phone holder, etc. Having had one, I think they are the bee's knees. Others might disagree.... My sony ericsson BT kit took two hours to fit although I reckon it shouldn't take more than an hour. If you want the radio to mute and / or have it piped into the drivers door speaker, you'll be looking at a fair bit more! Hope this helps, Paul
  13. Stay awake from Turf Hill and Kirkholt and you should be okay. I had the styling kit on 18" and not lowered and managed to graze the front of the bumper on a curb (a parking space where you drive in diagonally), so I;d be a little careful!
  14. Most certainly am sure...!! Have had one before, and it was fantastic. Didn't need to see the phone at any time. Also, voice dialling worked great! Thanks for the advice. I don't mind travelling for a good job. You can confirm that the stereo mute works then? Regards, Paul
  15. Hey Marconi, depends what you want to do. In my last is200 and my new is200, I had the sony ericsson HCB-30, which is a bluetooth car kit. Firstly, the bloke I had install mine in the first one just did a simple inmstall. There was no radio mute and it used the speaker which came with the kit Secondly, I didn't need to see the phone, hence the bluetooth kit. Voice dialling worked great! I'm just about to have my second one installed, and am hoping to find someone who can get the radio toi mute and to also wire this into the door speaker Hope this has helped. Paul
  16. This is a known fault on the cd based unit's. I had mine replaced under warrenty Have a nice word and see if they will meet you some of the way for the cost It's the ribbon cable between the LCD.... Regards, Paul
  17. Hi, I'm looking to have a bluetooth Mobile phone car kit installed. Now the chaps that did the last one did a great job, but didn't do the stereo mute or pipe it through the drivers door loudspeaker (Making it quite muffled) Now, various peeps on here have talked about various chaps that have got the mute working on the stock lexus is200 stereo, so I'm looking for some personal recommendations for someone that can do a good job for me! Thanks in advance, Paul
  18. Yes please! Having just found a new IS, but without sat Nav, I'm going to look into chucking one of these in myself. Looks fantastic, and the touchscreen should speed input up a million times! Good work son!
  19. You wrote all that?! I had my discs replaced three times on my first is200 (w2000) and had to finally pay for a skimming the 4th time I went in. However, by this time, I'd realised that it was due to heat build up when sat at traffic lights with me foot on the foot brake. However, I don't do that anymore :D
  20. or strain on the wallet.... What sort of premuim do people pay for having NOZ and how many have actually told their insurrance companies?
  21. You are lexus manchester (see dealer reviews IIRC) and I claim my five pounds! :D
  22. Mine has just topped 6K miles and has loosened up. Can now get 450-500 miles out of a tank. The last two tanks I;ve run until a splutter, then put exactly 35 litres in, which has resulted in 250 miles until the next splutter.
