  1. That bad? I might see if I can get a 24 test drive out of honda then!!!! Bloody hell. I got 36mpg on a 500 mile round trip between Ipswich and manchester last weekend in the lex! I do like the HiLux Surf though. Going to see this one in a couple of weeks Hilux surf for sale Besides, I can fill up the surf with veggie oil
  2. So, I'm looking at a newish car, and after 3 is200's fancy a change. I've always wanted a Toyota Hilux surf (4Runner) But know nothing about mechanicals, and would no doubt buy a piece of crap! So, have been looking around and started with Saab's although, like anything european, you have to pay a fortune to get anything like the spec of the is200. Moved onto Hondas, as they are well built and I think the new accord does look bloody good from the front! So, as it's now £60 in petrol for me to visit my parents, Have been looking at the 2.2 diesel, which gives 60 mpg!!!! Not only that, have been looking at various forums. Why is it that the only forums you don't havew to pay for are the toyota and lexus forums?! Anyway.... Until lexus gives huge discounts like Vauxhall do for people in Corporates (I could get a 2005 saab 95 diesel new for £15K!) and the TA, looks like a nearly new Honda for me! Any experiences of Honda?
  3. The only one in east anglia? I find that hard to believe!
  4. My broadband line is only 18 Mbps :)
  5. I'm confused..... there are plenty of online unlocking calculators which would have done it for nowt! Just go onto google and type 'remote unlocking xxxx' where xxxx is the model number of the nokia phone!
  6. about to get my carputer project started and need to get the usb cable from the rear parcel shelf to the glove box.... Any ideas as to how to get the wire down with little effort? from the handbrake onwards isn't too much of a problem.... regards, paul
  7. This will happen when the temp setting is set to it's lowest. The car will struggle to get to below 20c if you don't have it on recirc. leave it set to 20C and it will remember what you last had it set to. Personally, I just drive withhe windows open :P
  8. "Mini Plug accessory Connector" Wos that then? Have I missed something?
  9. I dont know exactly where you can get them repaired but on the back of various Car magazines i.e Max Power and *****, there are places that refurbish alloys. They usually cost between 30-60 quid per wheel and they look like new too when their done! Kinda. The lexus alloys look great but have a two stage finish, which is a pain in the ***** if you want them identical to the originals. However, most refurb places will scrap the diamond cut finish to save money, and you really can't tell the difference!
  10. am I the only one that drempt of turning off the traction control and going for a spin (literally) in those lexus?
  11. Looks good. However, to save space and bandwidth, would just the forum articles be better off with just the titles being displayed, rather than the whole post? Never got my head round having menu's on the right either! Regards, paul
  12. I got so fed up with sonic stage I nearly junked my net MD. However, real have a plugin which supports the net MD's. Install Real which you might already have installed anyway, and one of the updates is a netMD plugin.... You can then do everything from here!!!!
  13. Feel for you mate. The bus involved was outside the hotel I checked out of yesterday. 24 hours ealier and I;d have been walking down there hope you manage to get home soon. Paul
  14. If you want the best airline for economy, Malaysian is your friend Have flown many airlines both economy and business, and they are by far the best. They are also quite cheap as well, if you book direct. Another low cost option is gulf air via Bahrain. Again, the service is fantastic. BA are okay, but nothing special, even in business class
  15. Erm, concerned that no one has mentioned the hard driving of a car that's not up to temperature!!!! Mine doesn't get taken above silly revs until up to temp.....
  16. Been with lexus myself, who are great... The best thing is not having to both with any accident repair centres. it's just gets taken to the nearest lexus place and you get a lex as a courtesy car, and they are still the cheapest!
  17. OK, now I think I follow - it's just a backup system if the GPS signal fails, correct? Not quite. It's called dead reckoning and is used when the car loses it's GPS signal due to tunnels and high rise buildings, etc. The speed of the car is also used in combinantion of the gyroscopes which are contained with the GPS unit.... This gives you baring which is also needed AS other of mentioned, if you change the wheel circumferance, the indicated speed of the car is incorrect and thus your location will start to 'creep' out... Regards, Paul
  18. I blame Jordan.... If it wasn't for them, ferrari would have been the only ones racing, making them look even bigger idiots than they already are!
  19. There are some great banked highways in singapore... was over there recently! whilst the ride might get choopy round the corners, is does me you can go faster!
  20. I must be special... Mine came through the post :-)
  21. Do exactly the same.... works wonders! I used to do exactly the same whilst cycling although stopped when I doscovered it made your snot black!
  22. Only 400 miles? :P I get 400 miles on a bad day! Best I've had is 550 :) And I red line it twice to get to 70mph!
  23. You'd think so.... From http://home.earthlink.net/~graham1/MyToyot...ing/Economy.htm "Pulse driving is an advanced (probably extreme, definitely eccentric) technique that may (or may not) increase fuel economy (at the expense of comfort and safety). You can get some details by searching for the phrase "pulse driving" in the yahoo discussion group toyota-prius, but you probably won't want to after reading the following. Suppose you want to get from A to B on a clear road at an average of 60 mph. A normal person would get the car up to 60 and more-or-less stay there for the journey. A pulse driver would floor the accelerator until the car reached 70 mph and then release it completely to stop the ICE. Then he'd tickle the pedal trying to get the car to coast with a bit of electric power but not starting the ICE. When the speed drops to 50, he'd floor it again back up to 70 and repeat. He averages 60 (assuming he doesn't get stopped by the police) just as you did, but arrives at the destination having used (he claims) less gas. Of course, he may also be totally stressed out from concentrating hard and his passengers may hate him. You may be able to tell that personally I'm not in favor of this kind of pulse driving."
