  1. Plus I am pretty sure the washer bottle is on the passenger side....at least the filler is so.....
  2. Hi all, So after my Air Con stopped blowing cold and then started hissing, I took it to Kwik-Fit for a recharge at the weekend. They told me they couldn't fill it as it had a leak and told me to see a specialist. I wondered before I do go to a specialist and pay out for diagnostics, are there any DIY diagnostic checks I can perform myself? A few things/events listed below leading up to this discovery which may help hint a diagnosis: 1) I DIY fitted a Grom Audio a couple of weeks before my Air Con started to lack cold temperature - is it possible I have damaged something whilst working behind the AC unit and stereo? 2) As mentioned above my air con starting lacking cold temp and now it starts hissing loudly through the vents if it is switched on. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Bill :-)
  3. I believe they are called "grain of wheat" bulbs.....I got some for my switches, not sure if the climate unit takes the same ones - someone on here should be able to confirm
  4. Cheers. I have booked in at Kwik-Fit £45inc VAT. I don't normally touch them with a barge pole but they offer a refund if it is unsuccessful. I have only had the AC on whilst hissing for a max of like 1-2 mins, just whilst I have been listening and diagnosing. So hopefully I haven't done the compressor any damage. It shall remain off until Sat when it's getting a recharge. Cheers for advice. :-)
  5. Hi all, Although I don't get much of a chance to use it with our outstanding weather ;-), I have noticed this summer that my Air-Con is not as cold as it used to be. I am of course contemplating a re-gas, but it has now started hissing loudly through the dash when I turn it on. Could somebody please confirm these are tell tale signs of needing a re-gas? Could the hissing be something more serious? Of course it is kept turned off until I get it sorted. Any tips on cheapest place for a gassing? Thanks Bill
  6. Hi all, Could somebody please advise me of the bulb type for the center map light next to the sunroof switch? Trying to diagnose why mine doesn't work, I discovered the bulb is missing so I haven't a clue what to get. Many thanks Bill
  7. All very good tips there! WEIGHT REDUCTION Although the IS is naturally a pretty weighty beast and there isn't much you can strip out without compromising the whole reason for buying one in the first place (luxury) - you can simply make sure your boot isn't full of crap etc etc and if you only use your motor in and around town close to home, take your spare wheel out. Every little helps ;-)
  8. I had exactly the same symtoms on mine....fine on cold once warm terrible misfire. Gave it to an independant Toyota specialist who diagnosed dodgy injector. Replaced injector on cylinder 3 and cured it. Been sweet since (3 years). Not sure if you can get them tested on the cheap. Replacement was £110 for the part from Lexus. Suppose you could swap the injectors to see if the fault moves from one cylinder to the other?
  9. No, the braking itself is perfectly fine. I think it is probably just my ears and the surroundings making it seem like its on the back. With the front slider pins being such a common problem I am gonna tell myself it is that and just inspect the rear brakes as a precaution when I overhaul the front. And for £21 i can replace the rear pads anyway so I may aswell do that. Anyone have any links for recommended grease for the pins please??
  10. The brakes were rubbing at one point, seems ok now but there were rubbing. I got a faint wistle at low speed. I best overhaul the whole rear setup I think. The noise isnt a rubbing, its a loud click when I first press the brake pedal after driving along for a while. Its as if the piston/pads/pins are sticking then with more pressure from my foot give way causing a clunk or loud click.
  11. What would the guard catch on? I had the rear wheels off to paint the calipers a year or so ago, didnt see any obvious fouling with the guard then. Maybe ill take the rear brakes apart when I service the fronts.....clean up, grease up etc. I am hoping its just my ears playing tricks and is infact the front slider pins which I plan to overhaul anyway.
  12. Not a rattle no.......say I am in traffic and roll along from stationary when i hit the brake pedal again there is a loud click coming from the wheels as if two pieces of metal where hitting. Is that sticky slide pins at the front? I appreciate it prob just sounds like its from the back, but if it was coming from the back, what would it be? FRONT: Slide pins BACK: ????
  13. Guys, is it possible that I would get the same sticking and loud 'clicking' sound from my rear brakes? Or am I just hearing it from the back when in fact its coming from the front?
  14. After having Mondeo brakes on my Fiesta which I owned before the IS200, one of the first things that bugged me on the Lexus was the spongey pedal. I fitted braided hoses AND completely renewed my brake fluid with higher spec 5.1 toyota fluid. Worked nicely...my pedal is still not as hard as my mums Focus which I also bled myself, but I am about 1000 miles from needing new brakes so I am hoping when I do this, I will have a nice solid pedal. Braided hoses are available for around £45-50 and DO make a difference to the pedal :-)
  15. Hi all, Carrying a little service of my interior switches and dash lights as some of them are no longer illuminating at night with the headlights/sidelights switched on. Question is before I seek replacement could I have some help from members confirming which of the switches below should light up as I believe not all illuminate at night? 1) Headlight height adjuster 2) Headlight washer button 3) Drivers electric window switches 4) Drivers locking door button Following on from the above, is it easier to replace the switches than it is to replace the failed LEDs inside them? What does a main dealer do when servicing these items? Many thanks Bill
  16. Ah cheers....forgot all about that thread and I started it Ha!
  17. Does the Grom automatically charge the iPhone/Pod aswell? They sell a seperate 'USB Charge' cable.......I thought the Grom charged anyway? The Xcarlink charges I believe?
  18. Hi to all I once saw a guide to removing the rear seats etc to get to the speakers. Can't find it in search. Can anyone help? Or post below a guide? I cant see where to remove the rear bench and dont want to force it out? Thanks Billy
  19. Hi all, As the subject says, I am pretty sure the aero alloys are 18"......could somebody please confirm the tyre size for them please? Thanks
  20. Hi all, I wondered if any budding technicians out there knew whether the IS200 stock sump plug is magnetic?
  21. Jesus, 37k!......Sounds like its been through the wars mate. I bought mine at 74k and it still goes like new! I'd say you've been unlucky fella :-(
  22. Take it the new 'box is a reconditioned unit? With all those factors being renewed/repaired tomorrow you should notice a vast improvement! Here's to smooth motoring courtesy of Lexus ;-) God, I sound old! haha
  23. So here is my update after having a new clutch kit fitted: 1) Judder when pulling away is minimized, almost completely cured. I get a little wobble if I try to roll the car away without throttle and that's pretty much it! 2) My gear stick used to shake on the motorway and you could feel a wobble through the car to, that has completely cured for an even smoother 'new car' cruising feel ;-) 3) Acceleration in all gears is greatly improved (especially 5th and 6th on motorway)! 4) Clutch pedal is like new with a very precise bite. (I did ask the garage to replace and bleed the hydraulic fluid) Message to all....I wouldn't let this flywheel scare put you off. If you are experiencing judder and have done over 50k, get a new clutch for now, and see how you get on!
