  1. Like my original post i dont use my front fog lights,but then again i dont really care if people do either. Day light lights disprove your point about having lights on when its day light, the new law dictates you have to have lights on when its day light. Theres no need to have day light running lights on either when its day light SO why make a big deal about people having fog lights on when its not foggy??. front fog lights properly adjusted dont bother anyone thats my point why bother to make a big deal about it if people put them on or fail to turn them off. Personally cheesey christmas lights all over the front of peoples houses bother me but i dont rave on here about it. AS for your cap on backward ( who ever posted that) its a fasion thing,probably just like having your front fog lights on i guess.

    So the round ones do fit?. i have found a set cheap and already bidding on them on ebay. they cheap enough if they dont fit. Typical though of jap cars. Any car bulit in thsi country the manufacturer has to suppy parts for it for 10 years after production ends. This model is was in production until 2004?? so should still be making them until 2014 if it was an english made car !!

So in answer to your "dont otu your head lights on when its light" comment. what you going to do in the new year?? when law dictates all new cars have to have day time running lights??. you going to cut the wires to yours ??? Afterall in your words "dont have your lights on when its light" well in the very near future mate all cars (new) will have exactly that lights on when its light!!!!!!
  5. EML light shouldnt come on at all when replacing the timing belt. Not unless you unplugged things with the igniton turned on. If the igniton is of then the ecu is of so no reason for it to detect anything being unplugged. I recently changed head gesket timing belt water pump clutch radiator and thermo stat all in same day i dint get any eml lights on and i unplugged just about everything on the car.
  6. Before i start my rant in reply i dont use my front fog lights at all never have done. drive to road conditions,including vision and you dont need them. Ok whats the problem with properly set front fog lights being on. Front fog lights are designed to light the road UNDER the fog, therefore point directly outwards/forwards and not at all upwards. If they point upwards they as much use as putting your main beam on in the fog. Therefore unless you drive with your chin on the floor they shouldnt dazzle you. I would like to see where it says front fogs are illegal, ilegal on what grounds.Cant be illegal on the grounds they dazzle , have you drove with the new Range Rover behind you? try driving a mazda mx5 with a Range Rover behind you. The Range Rover headlights are direct inline with your interior mirror and dazzle like hell. So does this make it illegal to drive a Range Rover?? Properly adjusted lights dont dazzle no one i see loads of cars with them on they dont dazzle me. As for leds being used it doesnt matter what bulb is in the lamp a light below the bumper is a fog light thats why its below the bumper to light the road under the fog thats the whole point in putting them as low as possible. Front fog lights are NOT in the mot test I pretty sure if it was illegal to use them they would have some method of testing them to make sure they work correctly!!!
  7. This my new induction kit. Its not branded or named in anyway its a simple kit that does the job. theres a choice of 2 kits. the single filter type or the one i had (extra £20 if think). can be found on ebay will post ebay link if anyone wants it. No they not suplied by me
  8. Did this conversion as well. Mine is a 2000 S model so nothing under the seats as far as wiring goes. I don't know what my new seats came out of I found them on ebay for £100 if I remember rightly. Any way they electric and half leather. I simply took a live feed from the fuse box in either footwell. Seemed silly to run wire from battery and then across the car for drivers side. I wired mine up ignition live, they don't move unless the ignition is on or engine running. Then again there's only me that drives it so no need to move seats anyway. Was just an upgrade from the standard cloth that you get in the S model. They're in now and move about so job done

My link My link bit late for post but theres mine fronts are one shade darker than legal. i didnt do the back screen i felt it made the back of the car too dark.As most of the time coppers follow you,without the back screen done they dont even notice. Most coppers feel if your windows too dark your trying to hide something. I had mine done over 18 months ago i never been stopped because of the windows. I have been stopped and the copper didnt even mention the tints
  10. As a mechanic of over 20 years i can saftley say use dot 4 in your car and dont worry about it. Dot 3 and Dot 4 will mix without a problem. I am also pretty sure that the garage would have used dot 4 when they changed your last caliper. I personally dont remember the last time i saw dot 3 fluid. I restore old cars, morris minors, vw beetles all pre dot 4 fluid. they all would have been on dot 3 fromt he factory. they all use dot 4 now.

  13. The key comes with a lexus badge on it looks right. As for cutting and filing it down it keeps the key short so it doesnt stick otuto far when its inthe ignition. They are bigger than old style key but then i always had a key ring on my key to make it bigger so i knew it was in my pocket, dont need the key ring now.Each to his own i guess on like or dislike. Works for me as i didnt have a spare key anyway, so now i have one of each type so take my pick from which style. Key programming is on here some where search for it its about 3 pages through the list, i think
  14. New key for car fleabay These do fit. It would appear thatthey are too long. But for a tenner i ordered one to see. The key is infact too long, but there is a mark on the blade, i simpley to the blade just a shade long of the line then filed it to the line disapeared. My local lock smith cut it today,for £4. I had previously bought a 3 button fob (of club member for a tenner including postage) put the 2 bits together justspent five minutes programing it and there you go job done. Newer style key all working. I didnt have a spare for my car anyway but my original key has just become my spare. Job done for £26ish including postage and key cutting.

  16. Just getting into the full closure system on my car(fitting one) does anyone know where the alram control unit is and which wire is the trigger wire to lock the car?? i have full closure control unit need to get signal wire to fire it.

  18. so in that case any blue lights and sirens means stop? or does the car have to be clearly marked police? if an off duty copper shows me his id card do i have to obey him? i was parked the other day, legally parked i might add. A car pulled along side me the driver showed me a police id card and told me to get of my phone. The car was a pt cruiser with mods so pretty certain it was his own car and he was in civies. He told em as the engine was running i was incharge of the car/ and at the wheel. Is this law correct and did i have to abey him?
  19. Thats aboutit what ormi said. All you need is the grill (move the horns although i havent bothered yet) and get rid of the orange in the indicator lenzes (replace with orange bulb of course) couple of cheap easy mods. And where did i say that was my wife ??? lol

  21. change the grill Lexus birmingham (about £45) for mine. While you do your angle eyes get rid of the orange lenze and the chrome in the head lights rear ligths £100 ish off club member. Led ligths more modern style. Very slight smoke of rear fog lights as well just to match the rear lights (less red in the fog lights now) Theres £150 spent for you.   22. Another very good point. If blues and twos means "be aware i am here" could it be used as a defence of failing to stop. What is the diffrence between the 2. As far as i knew only a trafic officer clearly displaying a "police stop" sign could make you stop. Anything else was mearly warnign you they are there. Is this right pcthug
  23. I have a module to control window closure. Bought it of flee bay ages ago. The wiring diagram listed on this thread will work but only when you press the button to fold the mirrors in. The control unit i have will work from the buttom on your key when you lock the doors. I going away next week but will get on it as soon as i get back and post pictures of course

I know that nobody actually does a re map of the ecu, but cant see why its not do able. most engine sensor work of resistance therefore diffrent resistor would give wrong readings to ecu. wrong or diffrent that is. air temp intake sensor could be modded with a resistor to give more fuel for s start. how many sensors you would need to tweek to remap is up to you but just giving the car more fuel will up the power. Alot? probably not much more power but then how much more do you want? if you want big power go for a charger or get a is300. I was looking to do a 2jz conversion myself then thought no whats the point if i wnated a fast car i would have bought one. pal of mine has a gs300/aristo hybred. hes spent over 4k on the engine and remap. rolling road now shows in excess of 600bhp. But 4 grand 4 grand on a mod on a 1200 quid car. Now he has to up rate the brakes and suspension as well to cope with it all, more bills to come i thinking. I used to work on a rs focus for a lad he baught ti new for what ever the asking price was 22k ?? he then had bigger turbo bigger cooler bigger exhaust (1000 quid i know i got it for him)700 quid remap car stood him at 30 grand ish when he finished. Hes recently sold it and got a porsche gt3 and wonders why he spent months getting the bus while his car was being modded and didnt just buy a fast car in the first place. Just my opinions of course, but if you got money to spend buy yuorself a little pocket rocket and keep the lex as is. I personally have a rover coupe turbo (with mods) out runs impreza and evo everyday. stands me at 1500 and when i want to cruise i go in the lex sit back relax and drive. thats my way. oh and i also have an old escort rag top for when the sun shine (so it only comes out 3 days a year lol)
  25. Firstly why did you change the water pump? was it leaking? or did you just follow the many posts on here that say change it with the timing/cambelt/. Water pump and cam belt are not related one to the other no need to change one because of the other. one can be changed with out even disturbing the other. i recently changed my water pump with out even removing the lower timing covers let alone removing the timing belt. i been a mechanic 21 ish years and never ever changed parts on the basis your there so you might as well. (especially as the water pumps about £80) Secondly are you certain its the water pump leaking? as long as you cleaned the block and used sealer like you said you have theres no reason it should leak. think you have another leak not the water pump. THe water may be dripping of the pump but are you certain its not running from somewhere above or behind it. Back to my first point, simple rule of thumb if it aint broke dont fix it. Its dealers that start these things of "ooo might as well change it while were in there" "would be a shame not to do it while its half out". why not chnage the covers while there off as well oh and a new crank pully to. Do you change your coils every time you change your plugs ?? why not, youve took them off might as well. If the parts are related and dependant on each other then yes change the lot. No point just changing a friction plate on a clutch. nopoint fitting a timing belt and not tensioners they need each other to work correctly so change as a set. But why people change the water pump with a timing belt is beyond me. not on the Is 200 anyway.
