  1. dont think it will get knicked i had it a few years now and its been pretty safe lol. I have tried toget rid of it a few times gets on my nerves from time to time but it just seems to still be here lol
  2. Whats your plate Murphy will look out for you. The pic was taken on top of hartshead pike you could see it in the back ground but i chopped the pic down a bit to post it.
  3. I got this the other day blocks my view when driving a bit,but i like it all the same lol
  4. I actualy wanted a bigger key. I have a key ring with my key at the moment and it rattles against the dash. i wanted something that when it was in my pocket i knew it was thereMy local key place says its not as easy as just cutting 10 mill of the end but i really cant see why its not that easy.
  5. any one made one of this style key fit??My link they are ten mil longer than the standard denso key but surely you can just cut 10mm of the end and have it cut!! anyone done one??
  6. superb Jay. just ordered a set these are exactly what i been looking for. They cost $16 and $42 delivery. Thats( with current exchange rate, £37
  7. Recently had a crack in my rad, so priced around all my usual supliers. All were quoting around £150 plus vat. I rang my radiator repair place for a price of just a new core, he told me he could do me a new rad for £120 all in.. Superb i though he had on ein stock so i went straight round. When i go there, he had one for an auto with oil cooler.Simpley took of the feed and return pipes for the oil cooler and bingo all fits as is. The standard manuel one he could get me was £150 plus vat. So in short if your looking to buy a new rad get an auto one there cheaper.
  8. Ye get it in and get it checked out. Possibly something simple like Lambda/oxygen sensor this wont realy affect the way the car runs Although it will probably use slighty more fuel. Theres 3 on the car so will need plugging in to check wich one. If the car is running fine chances are it will be what i call a "periferal" sensor. ONe that doesnt really do much other than keep the green party happy. In its simlpest form all you need if fuel and an spark. The older cars never had any of the sensors there are now and they ran just fine. All the added on sensors litrally are there to make the car run more efficiant and "greener"
  9. Been after some side window wind deflectors for a while now. I have seen some that go up inside the window groove, but have been told these are not very good. There are some stick on type that go on the outside of the door frame that i have ben told are better. Any idea where i can get some from. I have been on ebay. com from Japan they are $263 us dollars. This sounds way over the top to me. Then again all the prices on there seem hugh. A sport grill from there is $145 + postage. The same grill over here direct from Lexus is only £40. So any idea on the wind deflectors boys and girls
  10. Certainly can although never dont it. Bounces of the limiter at 103mph in mine in 4th gear just done it about half hour ago. ON private road of course.
  11. Heres mine car needs washing sorry but you get the idea
  12. Both fans should draw cold air through the rad not blow it out. whats the point of blowing hot air over a radiator. The radiators are there to cool so need cold air through them to work.
  13. Mine is done exactly as you pal mate. Did it ages ago. I have also put some modified headlight eye brows on mine. Will get some pics on for you as soon as it stops raining.
  14. Hey Bruce,i`ve done a walk through on this if you wanna have a look. Its in the modified and tuning section under fitted halo lights. Hope it helps :P theres a walk through video on utube fellas. gives full details of everything. Theres a link on here for it somewhere.I think on utube its from a company selling angle eye lights but they also do headlight painting whilst they do the angle eyes. Also i recomend you get rid of the orange indicator lenze whit your in there. you will just need to buy an orange bold or better still a chrome one. gives a lot cleaner newer style look

  16. Yep side repeaters have to be the correct colour. The problem with the fog light is the mot testers manuel states "must have centre or offside fog light" it doesnt mention a nearside one, therefore its not in the test and is not failable regardless of colour or condition. I have mentioned many times about the mot test, its not a condition check of the car mearly a basic saftety check. I have also shown, in the past, that not all mot testers know the test, whats in whats not in. Best thing you can do is go library and get your hands on a copy of mot tester manuel. You will find it online also, but beware since the paperwork side of it went computerised they update stuff about once a month and are forever changing stuff. mot testers manuel
  17. You would be suprised what people think is involved in the mot test mate. I have had phone calls after an mot test saying the car wont start it you rfault you only mot,ed last week. The battery was flat on that one. Cars reported on service for low brake shoes customer complaining we only mot,ed it last week. You certainly cant see brake shoes inside the drum can i !!. You rear bumber can be dragging along on the floor beind youand as long as your number plate is secure on the car, the bumper isnt in the test so i cant fail it.Rear fog light on passenger side can be smashed and showing real bright white light to the rear, again not in the test cant fail it. There is actually a disclaimer on the mot certificate saying it doesnt mean the vehicle is in good condition, so thats how bad the mot test is.
  18. An mot test doesnt including a check of the brakes. If the tester can see thr brakes through the wheel then he may check and give advise or even fail them. wheels are not removed as part of an mot test so depending on what wheels you have your pads may not have been looked at. Standard wheels are pretty easy to see through so i would presume the pads were checked. For a brake pad to fail it must be less than 1.5mm in thickness. Can you see 1.5mm with the naked eye, with the wheel on and pads in the caliper?? We did a test once of how thick 1.5mm actualy is you would be suprised how far wrong people were. The basic mot test as far as brakes go is vesual inspection, if you can see the brakes, roller brake tester if the wheel stop turning its a pass afterall all you can ask a brake to do is stop the wheel going round. you dont even need all 4 wheels to stop if 3 stop and the fourth does a half an attemp to work then thats a pass as well. The mot test is a basic very basic safty test, a car at 25% of its condition when new should pass a test. So in theorey thats everything on the car can be 75% worn out and it will still pass, this is the figure v.o.s.a. came up with. A car regulaly serviced should be at 80/85% condition this is why theres diffrences between service and mot reports.
  19. They look very clean, if a bit dull. mine are high gloss finish but it could be your pic. Are your wheel cntres metal ? as they cant powder coat plastic it melts in the oven my brother used to be a powder coater and he couldnt do plastic. I had a set of RS wheels done few years ago for my Rs 2000 the powder coat chipped putting the tyres back on. I dropped my car of and picked it up when it was done. They wouldnt even take any payment of me until i had been in the workshop and i was happy with everything. I was happy with the job and as the wife has chipped them ,again, i will be going back and having them re done at the wifes expense of course
  20. Theres a change in exhaust noise, its a little louder and a little fruitier, but not alot just enough that you can tell its been done. Aparently on the outside its louder but from inside you cant tell that much. I didnt want a noise change just done it for the looks really just to make it a bit diffrent from anyone elses. Performance wise its the same although its a higher flow. I used the same size pipe as the front section so theres a drop in presure, as technically the rear section of the exhaust is twice the size bore (same size just 2 of the pipes). I put in 2 back boxes to keep the nose down the standard Lexus back box didnt fit on the passenger side so i bought 2 1989 escort xr3i back boxes and just chopped the pipe of them i just needed the boxes. I am not perfectly happy with the tail pipes one slightly points up the other is straight and level, but as they were cheap ones anyway the chrome has gone of on them already so they will be coming off. Other than that it was a pretty straight forward job. I have a hole stack of exhaust catalouges so just trawled through them looking for bits of pipe the shape i needed Ford mondeo was ideal for the piece across the back axle i had to 90 degree bends that i sliced and made into a Y shape.
  21. Just noticed your in Australia scrap my last comment then i dont know about ausie mot testing !!
  22. twin exhaust is one of a kind mate made it myself. I sure someone some where does them though if you wanted to buy one. mine cost me 45 quid if i rememebr and couple of hours to weld up
  23. try again above link doesnt work
  24. I have a black one but then i have a black car. Mines rubber from japan cost me 12 quid. I gave it a tee cut and a polish its so shinny now it looks painted. Mine came straight so had to bend it to fit the curve of the boot. Took 2 of us about 5 minutes to fit <a href="http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee300/fil4362/lexus/?action=view&current=arseend.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee300/fil4362/lexus/arseend.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
  25. Side marker lights are not in the mot test so theres no problem with having them as side markers and they can be any colour you like as far as the mot goes. You still need your side indicators though.
