I never even hesitated to drive through the lights, would do it again tomorow if it happened again.the picture is the second shot thats as far as i moved. I didnt ned to move any more as the copper had gone through. If the car in the left lane had been awake i wouldnt have had to move at all. If you look at the picture the guy in the Astra right out in the middle of the junction was way way in the middle of the junction he was causing the problem, he to only moved as the guy in the left lane didnt have a clue the copper was there. The ticket office were not very helpfull when i contacted them they said "it might not be a police car in the picture" They told me they had reviewed the picture and couldnt be certain !!! were they looking at the same picture as me? I live just east of city centre manchester, they are currently putting the tram through here and the road works are terrible. Every time the blues and 2s come through some one some were panics. I know exactly what you mean when you say people pull over next to a bollard leaving you no room. sometimes it is beter not to stop at all just keep going until theres actually space to give you space. I have recently seen a few ambulances just turning the sirens of and waiting so as not to cause panic, on the other hand i have seen many coppers demanding the public get out of the way, saw one woman last week almost drive into the hole they had dug to get out of the way. Its usually beat bobbies in vans that i see trying to bully their way through and demand people move. I pretty sure the blue lights mean i am here move out of my way if its safe to do so, not GET OUT OF MY WAY NOW . In the end i didnt get the fine but only because i went to the press about it i had rospa the police and all sorts of other governing bodies telling me i should have done this i shound have done that you should have seen the comments left on that web site giving me a hard time "mr lexus has to drive under the same laws as everyone else, shouldnt get of with it just because he has a lexus" weird people. I heard from people, on guy especially who got a ticket for driving in a bus lane moving over for an ambulance!!. He had to pay his fine took him months to get it back. Justs needs people in the ticket office that have comman sence and not just pen pushers.

I take it you mean if a call comes in? It would depend on the call. If it was life and death then i would try and get them to move out of the way IF SAFE TO DO SO. If it was someone breaking into a shed, then i may wait until the lights turn green and the cars start to move before putting on blues and twos. The offence has to fit your actions (or vice versa). When i park behind a vehicle in a jam, i allow space in front so i can get out without reversing or them having to move forward. I make sure i can see their tyres and an amount of tarmac between the nose of my bonnet and their vehicle. There has been many a time when i have been responding and come across a jam that i know cant go anywhere, so i turn the blues and twos off so i dont force them to do something dangerous that can cause a collision. It all comes down to training, experience and aggression how each copper responds. Good answer sir so why doesnt it happen like that. My link . that was me a while ago. as you can see i was less than a cars length through the line and no where near the junction of the road and in no danger at all or caused any danger to anyone else. You would believe the fuss i had getting of with it. When the lights did change i followed the police van. It had stopped outside the local station. When i asked as to the nature of the police vans hurry (in the following days) i was told the emergancy was a prisoner in the cells and as it was a skelinton staff station they needed back up. Prisoner?? my local station doesnt have cells or even interview room. It was half nine at night ( i think) and my local station is only open office hours. I still even now dont understand the law of what to do if i was in the same situation again!

Question for the traffic copper. If you was at a red light and both lanes infront of you had cars in them, the lane to the offisde/right was coned of for 100 yards behind you and driving on the pavement is out of the question, would you expect the drivers in the cars at the lights to move out of your way ?? and secondly do they have to?

I know it can be done and i have the control unit to do it just dam sight easier if theres pics of what colour wires are what instead of me having to test each one to see whats what under that dash, it will be done if it hasnt already been done with pics!! just not this weekend lol

CB radio, 2 way radio both legal. neither is hands free yet still legal. Dont you still have them in your traffic cars ?? and all police have them on uniforms and use while driving. So thats the traffic coppers arguement delt with. yes you do use them i have even seen them on the tv all the trafic coppers programs show police using hand held devices whilst driving. ok so there fixed to your uniforms but you still have to let go of the steerign wheel to press a button to transmit your message just like a mobile phone, these are legal and diffrent from anything else how ?? Touch screen stereos or any stereo for that matter, is it illegal to change a radio station while driving??. Your minds not fully on the road if your chatting to a passenger or using hands free kit, both are still legal. I understand your point no one should be doing anything whilst driving but how boring does driving become if you cant change radio station or chat to a mate or worse of all take direction from the wife (if you dont have sat nav). changing sat nav whilst driving shouldnt be a problem though, set it before you leave then leave it alone why would you need to change it whilst on your way to where your going! Yes you may need to stop for fuel or your dinner,and need to change destination, but if you plan correctly before you leave you shouldnt need to change it whilst driving.

hi guys looking for easy start on this. Auto window roll up and mirror closure. I have the required power control unit to do this mod anyone done it with pics? I seem to rememeber the wiring for mirror closure is on here somewhere but cant find window roll up. Save me digging out wiring diagrams and tralling through them some one tell me they have got pics !! If not i guess its on me to do it with pics (wont be in so much of a rush if i got to do it not that important) lol

dont spend another penny getting it plugged in again will only produce the same codes. very very unlikley to be coil related as all 6 wont fail at once not unless you had some sort of power spike and blew the lot. this also unlikley as the car did start again. coils are not intermitant they work or dont work. never know one to "recover". personally i would be looking at the crank shaft sensor or cam sensor as it these that tell the coils when to trigger and they break down when the cars is hot. they may not show as a fault code, thats just my thinking as other that the ecu its the only items that connect all 6 coils and would cause all 6 to fail at once. You could have an imobliser fault this also would turn of the coils. when the car cuts out next time check to see if you have fuel in the fuel rail, if so this would rule out the imobiliser fault (pretty certian it cuts fuel and spark) hard to diagnose a fault sat here, would be easier with car infront of me. like i said doubt very much its the coils as very unlikley all 6 to fail at once then "recover" themselves.

From dead ahead view you just get the glow on the grill and no points of light at all

Like not like? the grill is a standard sport grill in black. The lights are actually on the top of the grill pointing down and are not actually visable. The little dots of light you see are actually reflected of the bottom edge of the grill

10k on a set of Federals and i am heavy footed and turn the traction control off,alot. the grip is ok i have to push to get it to slide. Stil have about 5mm on them. Michelins i find crack up alot between the treads (many mot fails on them) Recently had a customer in with goodyears (on a corsa) all 4 shot afetr 12k she said. Driving conditions tyre pressure all has a lot to do with tyre wear. Cant rememeber where in the country it was but at last mot seminar they pointed out an area real heavy on tyres due to many roundabouts.With the new computerised mot system it records what cars fail on what items in what parts of the country. The tyre wear in one area really stood out was 25% higher inthis area than rest of country according to their records.

Not many rear wheel drive cars out there any more Ormi. Been a while since i actually had to pull a gearstick out. Theres normally a very distinct cuvre to a gearstick but the Lexus one is pretty subtle. I didnt even check it to be honest it looked so straight. New what it was i had done as soon as i done it. Just backed car of ramp (had to let handbrake of to get it in reverse) took 10mm socket home with 1/4 drive ratchet did it at home simple job thankfully. Was annoyed at having to do the clutch twice though. Used an ADL blue print clutch as well (never had a fault with them before). Think i may just get my garage to invoice me for the labour and send in a labour claim, that way i get paid for doing it the second time. I live and work in East Manchester D6NGR. Droylsden area.

Recently took few days of work to go in work and do some work on my own car. Did you follow that? I am a mechanic and instead of bringing all my tools home i took few days of work to work on my own car in work. Anyway head gasket timing belt water pump thermo stat clutch all done. Car was over heating after rediator burst earlier in the year. Used small amounts of water but got worse and worse. Had to be done so got on with it. Cylinder head skim done as well just to make sure everything is all sweet to rebuild. Water pump went in as well didnt need it but ordered it so might as well stick it in. New stat, fan switch and rad cap so all cooling system mechanicals changed job lot done forget about it again now. Cam belt/timing belt full kit tensioners idler the lot all thrown on as well. While the head was away being skimmed flat i pulled gearbox out to change the squeaky thrust bearing. All nice and new now with bit more power as well due to head skim and slightly higher compression now. Anyway the fun bit turns out the the new clutch thrust bearing was as squeeky as the old one, so this morning out came the gearbox again. Another new clutch went in and now its all quite. Weird thing was as i came to back up of the ramp this morning i couldnt get reverse, the gear lever hit the hand brake. The gear stick is handed/sided. Its got a slight bend in it boys and girls put it in the worng way round and reverse is very hard to find lol. Lucky for me its only 8 bolts to take it out again but though it would be a little thing to note should anyone ever come across the chance to do their own clutch DONT PUT YOUR GEARSTICK IN THE WRONG WAY ROUND

Theres 2 wires to each of them lights. If you splice the l.e.ds into the wiring then that will power them. L.e.ds are very low power draw so wont need any extra power suply or fuses.. just check poss and neg on the l.e.ds before you make perminant fix as they only work one way round

I got a couple at first to try them, then ordered more as i needed them. Just double check as i ordered some in white and they had a blue tint to them so no use for front of car and for the cost they wasnt worth sending back. As i said these look like the ones i have but not same seller. They are only about 2/3 mill thick and easily fit on the bottom of the door and wire up direct to the red light in the door. they come in diffrent lengths i have some on the bottom of the sills wired to the interior light so they come one when you unlock the car. they pretty bright to.

is it really that much hassle. I havent seen a 2jz engine for a while to be honest. but i have been offered this one complete in the car and can take what ever i need from it including the ecu. when i say cheap i mean real cheap. whats a 2jz engine worth??

Easy to do mate. I have a set in my front grill will post pics when its dark. AS tyour using leds they dont draw much power so you can tap straight into any current lights already in place. I bought so led strips from japan think they were a quid. They are very slim i have them on the bottoms of my doors as well(thats how slim they are) they light up the road/pavement when you open the door and have a set on the underside of the sills that come on with interior light when unlocking car puddle lights i think they call them

2000 model is200. Thinking of a 2jz engine swap on the basis i can get hold of one cheap from a gs300. The gs is an auto but the car is complete including ecu. Anyone done the swap and how much diffrence is there when driving. Was it worth the work??

yip you can i have one fitted to my car!!no you dont neet to do anything with them matey!!just leave them as they are... yep auto rad fits straight in. I took the pipes of mine but doesnt matter. The auto rad is actually cheaper the the manual one

Mine took about 3 weeks to come. I had to pester them until it came. Apparently the person in the parts department that deals with ebay sales was ill. I was told it was next week then next week came and went. Hopefully for everyone this was just a one off.

How much is petrol a litre where your at Izzy?? £1.20 a litre in my neck of woods, of your figures at my price thats 19.12 miles to the gallon. I know some places down south are £1.35 a litre that works out at 21.53 miles to gallon.Thats 2 miles to the gallon difrence just on fuel prices at a extra 15 pence per litre.
