  1. Sonys answer to the next wave in video entertainment. Basically a higher capacity disk that looks like a dvd, but holds more data. The same with HD-DVD. There is more to it, but it would send even the guy in the sky to sleep.
  2. sorry should have pointed out. toyo t1-r tyres. in the words of o.c.c. "awesome"
  3. what !? i just ponied up 130 a corner with fitting and balancing on the plus side the tyres rock. serious amounts of grip on them. recommend them do i.
  4. pics of the final article will be on the site, as soon as i've sorted the issue of the stereo. not sure wether to do it myself or pay someone else to do it. in my head it seems like a simple job, however in reality we all know complications will arise. Geoffers, could you expand on this hibernation thingy. i tried it before but everytime it came out of hibernation the gps wouldn't work.
  5. its fed direct to psu via the cig lighter feed. i created a daisy chain under the gear shift as it was just push on style clips. the psu its self has a regulator on it to counter voltage rises and dips. its tolerance level is 9v-16v. http://www.morexintl.com/product/psu_car_kit.php thats the manufactures website which gives more specs. mines the 60watt version as i currently dont have the need for more power. i got the equipment from www.mini-itx.com . you can probably source the parts from somewhere else cheaper, but they seemed to be faster than usual with the delivery. also if power is lost like in stall then the pc is going off as well, so not as advanced as the opus. the glove box is an altezza box in case anyone is wondering. it has no felt inside or key lock on it. perfect for monitoring heat when you've not put sensors in it yet.
  6. the specs are as follows :- x1 epia via motherboard running at 1ghz x1 512mb stick of ddr ram (dont know what speed though) x1 hitachi travel star hdd 30gigs x1 60watt dc to atx power supply i'm currently running centrafuse as the interface, it nice and easy to use. the pc currently takes 1min to boot up from cold. 30 secs for the mb checks and 30sec for windows to load. i will be adding a second card soon purley for nav, unless centrafuse do a music pause feature when the nav talks. at the moment it talks at the same time as the music and get be confusing or not heard at all. in answer to your question scarface, the psu is in the glove box as well. if you look carefull at pic 1 in front of the mb is the psu. i've mounted it on a piece of mdf wood and then glued that wood using nomore nails to the inside of the glove box. maybe solvite would be a better option ? and the hdd is just screw in tightly from the back. i haven't noticed any problems with heat from the system as its all low voltage, even when the weather was in the high 20-30's. the cold is the next test, will the hdd power up when its been -2 in the night ? and will it get condensation ?
  7. Finally got round to taking pics of the car pc. its in a basic state at the moment regarding the screen. when its finished it will be an in-dash type with an after-market head unit for the sounds. however that could take me some time to do as with most things with me. so in the mean time here are some pics of what i've done. in case people are wondering how its powered. i've basically dasiy chained it off the cig lighter as there is a fair amount of amps going through that power route. Glove Box Power Button (nice and discrete, pc is not auto power on) Screen (in temporary mode)
  8. I'll post some piccies this weekend. its in a rough kinda way. i'm currently running the stock system, what kinda of price we talking about for the prolex solution ? however if i use that solution then i cant do my in-dash idea. which leaves me where i am now. how to install the screen on the dash ? also in-dash is better for me as i'm short.
  9. Hi, does anyone know of any good audio installers around east yorks or the hull area ? i've finally built my car pc, but its not quite there. it needs a proper audio solution putting in. i'd do it myself, however i'm in a lazy mood and would consider ponying up for it to be done properly. well cash dependant that is.
  10. In my state of being bored i did type in my address bar http://lexus.jp/ and was taken to the lexus japan site. here i noticed some new, the is350. so for those that want/need one you could import one and have the steering wheel on the correct side. bonus. makes me wonder why the 350 wont be a uk model, its not like theres much work to be done to bring it over here offically. or is there just no market for it ? (m3,amg etc seem to do well).
  11. Can you pm with a ball park figure for the teins with the edfc, so i that can figure out how much more o/t i need to work, so that i can get the coin to pay for the gear. also would i get a "bigger" discount if i went gold ? :D By the way what the ride like compared to the stock shock on the teins ? better or significantly better ?
  12. Just been on the tdi website having a look around to see the suspension options. I'm kinda of tempted by either the HKS setup or the Tein type flex sport spec (probably with the edfc). Just curious on what people think about these setups. Also why is the tein comfort spec more expensive ?
  13. cheers guys, a heck of a lot cheaper than halfords. my wallet can sleep easier tonight.
  14. Can some one tell me where i can purchase k and n air filters slightly cheaper than halfords ? £55 for a nissan almera tino air filter seemed a bit pricey as did £80 for a terrano 57i air filter. If there was a cheap skate icon i would use it.
  15. i mean banned from the south side, not the whole island. i would have to have done something real serious for that to happen.
  16. spotted in it Famagusta, which is near the port, which was also where i was heading at the time. i did see an altezza as well, the sport cross version in Kyrenia. maybe they are more popular on the south side of the island, i dunno. i was banned from entering till recently.
  17. whilest on my hols in north cyprus i spotted a whole of one is200, but not just any ordinary is200. oh no this one had a lexus owners club sticker on the boot :) . made a change from seeing the plethora of mercs, 4x4 and the really old tata's and renaults. buy the way just to clear up matter i wasnt on holiday there doing car spotting.
  18. Sounds like quite a dilema. however being the simple person that i am, i've come up with an idea to help you out, well question that you should ask yourself. Which engine sounds better ? good old iron block or new school alloy block ? thats my two pence to the question. probably make no difference to your choice. :)
  19. what the plan then, using it as donor car for the numerous project you have on the go ?
  20. it was a quality find, they have another black is200 there as well with the straight 6 engine as well. think that was an auto though. the hood cover has been had on that one. and i got the badges so i could update the beasties boys image :)
  21. If anyone is interested, i stumbled across a fairly recent altezza in the breakers yard today. The place that has it is call simpsons salvage in (near) pocklington. Website info The engine is still in it, and its the yamaha beams engine. the dash is intact, me and friend were going to take it out, but then we couldn't be arsed. some of the lights are still ok and the seats look fine but are not electric. i took the standard dash tray and the metal scuff plates. oh the gear box is still in it as well.
  22. Came across this spy vid. LFA Spy Vid Near the end see if you can spot the supra. Didnt sound like they were hammering it too hard.
  23. this i'll bring a small smile to you. when my is200 was in the body shop (lexus hull dont do major body repairs), the body shop company gave me a bright yellow mini. emphesis on bright yellow.
  24. Having had over 2yrs of driving pleasure from my humble is200 se. its time to sell up due to various things going on. So my question is, whats a good a price to sell my lex at ? Its a 2002 52 plate thats done about 22k, in plat ice, some warrenty left and well looked after (like all lexi on this club). Shame really, just got the car pc built and installed and now i have to take the cables out.
  25. Kinda off topic. Theres some seriouly weird talking going on over at is300.net . Moaning about prices, hp drop, equipment etc. the fav being that the is250 would be a step down from the is300. odd argument really, seeing as its suppose to offer around the same figures as the current is300 and comes with more equipment as standard. sometimes people need to step back and look at the facts first before shouting off.
